Going! Going! Blocked!? Shri's mouth fell open at the excellent save Arris had pulled. She for sure hadn't expected that! It came as a total surprise to the riolu that she didn't even start moving towards the ball right away. Wow, huh, she was sure she had done a good job on that kick too!"Hell yeah!" Takara cheered at Arris, getting a big grin. "Nice going, man!" Hey, just cause they were on opposite sides didn't mean they couldn't support each other and cheer the other on! But Takara soon noticed Shri's stillness. "Hey! Shri! We're still in the game, bud!" Shri snapped out of it and seemed to finally respond, going after the ball, but her slow start gave Pepper a large advantage. She would really have to work to catch up to him now! Aw, well, there was still time in the game to really get her head back in it!

Arris threw his hands up in the air in a big double high-five, grinning back at Takara. "Fuck yeah! That was awesome! I didn't expect that to happen at all, ahah!" Putting his foot back down resulted in an internal wince, though. Yowch, that was gonna bruise. Shri had one hell of a kick on her.
Pepper himself was also absolutely shocked at the occurrence. Oh, wow. Okay! So his dorky human was a secret badass. Alright alright alright! Pepper braced himself and leapt up into the air, smacking the ball towards Takara with his tail before chasing after it. "Pika pi pi pi!" The sand was still inhibiting him, but he was starting to get his footing, taking bigger jumps rather than just trucking along. Hopefully he could keep the lead he had! He kept looking back and forth though, as if to constantly make sure, and that slowed him down too.

Her slow start really affected her, but she was able to catch up after the half-way mark of the field. She'd still have the wrestle the ball from Pepper, but she was going to try! She used her upright position to her advantage, keeping her arms out behind her to and get a bit more speed and hunkering down, but she'd still have to wrestle that ball away!
She had to keep at a certain distance, least she wanted the pikachu to make some sudden movement away from her, but they were approaching the goal line! Shoot! There'd be a chance to shoot the shot at Takara unless she could get ahead! She tried to take her slightly faster approach to try and get in front of Pepper to act as another line of defense but she wasn't sure she'd make it in time! Takara got ready to defend, trying to keep his eyes on that soccer ball!

Pepper was running along, bunting the ball with his nose as he went. Gotta keep the speed, keep the focus! Don't let them get ahead! Go go go go! His ear twitched backwards as he heard approaching footsteps. The Pikachu's speed picked up further, intent on getting that ball into the goal and past Takara. Just a bit further!
Arris clenched his fists in concentration as he watched Pepper run. "You can do it bud, keep going!!" he cheered the Pikachu on. But Shri was catching up... Pepper couldn't really see over the top of the ball as he was running and it was making him a little slower - that on top of trying to run less messily slowed the Pikachu down significantly.
"Pikapika!!" Yes! Pepper could absolutely do it! He was just about ready to take what he thought would be the shot of a lifetime when he heard the footsteps almost next to him. This was when he made his fatal game mistake: Pepper looked to the side, away from the ball, to grasp just exactly where Shri was. And because his eyes weren't on the ball, he didn't realize quite how close he was to it, and his feet were moving just a bit faster than his thoughts. Pepper's shoulder slammed into the ball, but with his back feet still going, the Pikachu tripped and went flying over it, and almost comically he faceplanted straight into the ground with a surprised "Pii!?" The ball bounced off of the Pikachu and coasted to a stop.

Takara sucked air between their teeth, watching the poor pikachu flip over the ball and land on his face, only to add insult to injury with the ball bouncing off of him. Oof. He craned his neck to make sure the poor little guy was alright.
Shri came to a stop to check on Pepper with a soft "Riiolu?" before remembering they were in a game. She rushed for the ball and kicked it back towards Arris and Pepper's side of the field. It wasn't the strongest kick, but it was enough to get the ball away from Pepper. Shri rushed after it, thinking to take the moment to try and get ahead of the game! "Riii!" she called to Pepper in apology as she left him there. It wasn't personal!!

Arris was grimacing too, looking over towards Pepper. He knew the Pikachu was okay - the kid was made of some tough stuff. The boy figured if anything, it was actually the Pikachu's pride who'd been bruised, more than anything physical. But just in case... he kept an eye on Shri, but brought his fingers up to his mouth and whistled sharply. Pepper didn't move for a moment, before slowly raising a little paw in a thumbs up motion. "Yeah, thought so," Arris mumbled fondly to himself. "Up and at 'em Peps, let's move!"
The Pikachu paused for a few moments more, as if steeling himself. And then without warning, he pivoted where he was laying down and took off after Shri. His feet were light and easy on the sand now - keeping light on his feet made it much easier to move in the sand now that he'd gotten his footing and figured it out! He was able to catch up to Shri quickly, and he bounded ahead and turned to face her and the ball down, before bearing straight at them in an attempt to get the ball back!

Shri was aiming to try and keep control of that ball but she knew Pepper was catching up to her. Damn! He learned how to keep up good speed too! That was bad for her. As he caught up, she tried to pick up the pace but the pikachu was naturally faster. To be expected from an electric type.Pepper was able to wrangle control of the ball if he wanted it. Shri knew she would have to double back towards Takara to try and keep a goal from being scored, but if Pepper got there in time, it was going to be up to Takara. "You got this, Shri! Don't give up!" Takara yelled. She nodded and tried to catch back up.

Pepper flexed his little paws, getting ready as Shri approached. His long tail flicked side to side, waiting for just the right opportunity, just the exact, perfect moment for him to burst into action and begin moving... Wait for it... wait for it... "Now, Pepper!" Arris called to his Pokemon partner. Pepper exploded into movement and action, all the energy built up into his legs like a supercharge of speed. This time he bunted the ball sharply and precisely, sending it barreling right back across the play area towards Takara. He paused only for a moment to give Shri a playful "Pikaaaa!~" and a little wink of 'nothing personal indeed!' before taking off after the ball as well.
Was this what Quick Attack felt like? Pepper sure wish he knew. It felt like he was flying across the sand now, his tail flying like a yellow banner denoting his rapid approach. His gaze was on Takara now; his target locked, ball ready, set and primed to let loose towards that goal! "Piiiikapikapika - kachu!!"

Oh no! She was not giving up that easy! She darted after Pepper, light on her feet despite the sand. She was going to have to intercept it! As she ran, she heard Takara shout. "Hit it straight back! No flare!" He called. She nodded and picked up the pace, skidding along the sand before she kicked the ball straight up and then jumped on Pepper's back, using him as a springboard before she kicked the ball hard back towards Arris. No flare, an easy kick. She landed back in the sand and smirked at Pepper before darting back towards the ball at top speed.She would score a goal! One way or another! She heard Takara's cheers behind her, just urging her on.

Pepper stumbled in the sand and nearly faceplanted as he was used as a springboard. What the - he sputtered and whirled around, seeing that Shri had gotten ahold of the ball again and was headed right back towards his trainer's goal. Again he repeated... what? What in the great Raikou's name had just happened? The Pikachu scowled when Shri smirked at him. Using him as a stage for a little trick... now where was the fun in that if Pepper didn't get to get in on the action too? Time to get funky!
"You alright there, Pepper?" Arris called over. The Pikachu nodded, and shot off towards Shri like a shot. He wasn't gonna catch up in time to prevent the shot because of his surprise, which was of course, unfortunate. But he believed in Arris! They still had this!
Now, Arris didn't think he was gonna be able to pull of quite the trickshot that he'd pulled last time... but he'd do his best. "Alright Shri, gimme your best shot!"

She ran hard, getting ready to take her aim. She heard Takara behind her, cheering her on and saying, "You got this, Shri! Give it your best shot!"She would try! Running forward and angling herself with the goal and giving Arris a studious look, she got ready. With a solid kick, she sent the ball flying, but it seemed to have a curve to it she didn't intend. She would have to see how Arris would respond to see if she got a goal!
She stopped moving after she kicked it, watching with baited breath to see if she would be successful and score them a point! She could hope!! Takara waited as well, slightly nervous, but also just having a good time in general. This was a good way to spend the day.

Arris rolled his shoulders and gave Shri a thumbs up. "I can't promise a goal for ya, Shri - but I know you got this." He winked good naturedly and whistled over to Pepper. "Be ready bud! Ball gonna be headed your way soon!" The Pikachu nodded and skittered back to mid-court, ready and waiting. He hopped back and forth and waggled his tail playfully before looking over to Takara with a serious expression. Don't worry, Pepper seemed to be saying. The ball's coming for you this time for sure!
Arris tensed as Shri kicked the ball, watching that curve. Oh, jeez... another trick shot, huh? That was okay - he could do this one. Positioning himself, he took a short sprint and jumped up as the ball got near, smacking it with the inside of his knee. It was a game of hackey-sack after that for a moment, juggling the ball from foot to foot and on top of his knees. He offered Shri a sympathetic smile. "You nearly had it! That one was about as solid a hit as the last one. And that curve thing? You've got a lot of skill there. Buuuuut..." Arris waved, and then saluted to Takara. "Incoming, all three of you! Go long!"
He tapped the ball off his knee one last time, before punting it with a solid kick back towards the center of the field.

Ah! She was disappointed that yet another attempt to scare didn't work. Her ears dropped a bit at that. She looked back at Takara a little disappointed, but only found Takara's bright smile. "That's alright, Shri! You did your best! There's always next time!" She nodded, her tail giving a rare wag (but only once) before turning back to Arris, watching hi skillfully juggle the ball before he got ready to kick it.She darted after the ball, hoping to get there before Pepper could. Takara, on the other hand, smiled at Pepper and nodded. He expected the pikachu to have a killer kick on him! But Takara then turned to Arris and returned the salute and nodded, getting ready to defend.
"I got this, Shri! Just focus on getting over here!" Takara called. Shri nodded, now focusing her efforts on getting to Takara's side of the field compared to actively going after the ball, but she was watching... just in case.

Arris rubbed the back of his neck once he'd kicked the ball, noting Shri's look. He felt a bit bad - but he knew he would've felt worse had he thrown the kick, because they would've both known it wasn't genuine, and there was no fun in a game that wasn't all-in honorable and enjoyable. He knew Shri could do it though. She seemed absolutely tough - like she'd be more than stalwart one day. And besides... even if he blocked them Arris wasn't entirely sure it was a win for him - those kicks hurt. He was impressed by it. "Chin up - you're doing really well, Shri!!"
Pepper had the small advantage of being already near center field once Arris had announced the kick. He waited until the ball was in the air, before waggling his tail playfully at Shri as she rushed his way. "Piiika!" He grinned - and leapt up into the air with a little finessed twirl to use his tail to bat the ball down! He then landed carefully and began to tear after it himself, making little 'pi pi pi pi' noises as he hustled after.
"Good catch, Pepper!" Arris grinned and applauded his companion. "Nice hustle, my dude!"

Shri gave a thumbs up at Arris, appreciating his nice attitude. He was a rather nice fellow. Shri hoped he and Takara could be friends one day, if only due to the kindness she felt flowing from Arris. But she focused back on the game, impressed by Pepper's save and rush towards Takara.She saw Takara get ready to save, and for the better, she wasn't going to catch up in time. She gave a cry over at Takara to get ready to defend and he gave her a nod, getting his stance ready. Takara.... did not have the skills Arris had with kicks. Takara was not really a leg guy, but he did have quite a bit of upper body strength and some speed. Not that it would matter if that pikachu kept moving as fast as he was! "Come on, Pepper!" Takara said. "Show me what you got! You got this!" He smiled at the pikachu. No matter the outcome of the game anyway, this was fun!
