Arris grinned and gave the thumbs up back towards Shri, before turning his attention back to Pepper. This was a lot of fun! He was looking forward to Shri getting a goal. There was something exhillarating about being able to block the ball - but also... there was even more joy in getting to see the Pokemon happy! And there was also the little added detail that if he couldn't get to it in time, Shri's forceful kicks wouldn't get to leave more bruises on his legs. So, y'know. Pros and cons. "Good luck, Pepper! Give it your all!"
The Pikachu bunted the ball one last time ahead of him and turned to look back at his trainer, waggling his tail and giving a little cry. He was gonna do the best he could! He also looked at Shri with a bright little expression, before finally turning back towards Takara. "Piiiiikachu!!!" He called back at the encouragement. Yeah! He was gonna do his best!!
Pepper butted the ball up into the air, before jumping up and slapping it with his tail as hard as he could towards Takara!

The ball came fast. Takara was impressed with the way Pepper had hit it and had moved to defense, but it was coming straight at face height! There was no way Takara could show up to work with a wallop the size of a soccer ball! He put his arms up and blocked the ball but the force behind Pepper's hit sent it rocketing over Takara's arms after the initial impact and right into the goal.Ah, ouch. Takara shook his arms out, knowing it would leave some massive bruises. But when the ball rolled into the makeshift goal, Takara couldn't help but raise his arms in praise. "Nice job, Pepper! That was a great serve!" Shri also let out a bit of a cheer. Was she disappointed in not making her own goal yet? Yes. But was this just a fun game between some new friends? Also yes!
"Don't worry, Shri, you'll make a goal soon, too!" Takara said, scooping up the ball and getting ready to serve it back into play. Shri nodded, now even more determined to try and score her own goal! Takara kicked the ball into play, leaving it up to the two pokemon to decide who would get there first. Shri, given her position towards the middle of the field, decided to wait and see where the ball went for a split moment before making a dash for it! But Pepper had already proved his incredible speed!

Arris winced as he saw the ball impact Takara's arms. That... looked like it hurt quite a bit. His calf and knee twinged in sympathy pain. For small Pokemon, the two of them could cause some serious damage with a ball. He didn't think he could kick that hard, certainly. As Takara shook their arms out, Arris took a couple steps forward towards the field and the other trainer. "Hey you okay?? That looked like it stung."
Pepper didn't seem to mind, though. Not in disregard for another's safety, but by the sheer fact that he was excited that he'd done it!! Made a goal! "Pikapikapika CHU!" He cried out. With the praise from both Takara and Shri he zoomed about in little donuts in the sand, absolutely bursting with just a massive burst of energy. He only paused for a second, and that was when Takara spoke up again. He perked his ears up and paused at the redness of their arms, waving his hands as if in worry. But a moment later, the ball was in play again, and he had to focus.
As Takara kicked the ball, Arris fell back to his position, still looking at Takara with worry. "They're right - you got this, Shri! And you did great, Pep. Both of you are absolutely rocking this!" Pepper flicked his tail in acknowledgement of Arris' words, before tearing up one more quick spin and taking off towards the ball at full speed. He gathered himself to take a leap and knock the ball back the way he came - but there was still plenty a chance for Shri to get out in front of him and get the ball out from under his paws!

Takara gave a thumbs up. "I'm good!" They called back at Arris' concern. Thankfully Takara tended to wear long sleeves to work so that wouldn't leave any room for questions. Aw, fuck did that hurt though!But seeing how happy Pepper got at making a goal, Takara couldn't help but smile. Aw, that was really fun! This pikachu had the right idea about how to celebrate a score! Pain or not, the game was on! "You got this, Shri! Just focus on a good play, not making a goal!" Takara called. She nodded and darted after the ball. Pepper's speed, however, was something else entirely. He was quick on the sand now! She would have to develop a new strategy! But using a move seemed to be rather low, this was just on pure physical ability! And that is how it would stay!

Oh, good. Arris' countenance relaxed at the confirmation that Takara was alright. It sure sounded like it hurt, but if they said they were okay, they were okay. He could focus completely on the game now, though! He raised himself up to his toes and leaned down to rest his elbows on his knees in ready position. "Glad to hear it!"
Eager to take control of the field again, Pepper did get to the ball - and bunted it with his tail before taking off back down the field. He twitched his ears and called out to Shri with a bright and excited little grin - like a challenge, but in a friendly way. A call to action, perhaps? He knew she was capable! But regardless of anything, the bright-eyed look on the Pikachu said that he was just genuinely having a great deal of fun. And really, that was what mattered.
"Atta' boy Peps, I believe in you!" Arris cheered after him.

At Pepper's call, Shri booked it across the sand back towards Takara, but she soon felt something in her leg cramp up. She bit back a cry of pain and kept on pushing herself, taking note of Takara's worried look. She stopped short, stretched out her leg a bit, before chasing back after Pepper. Ugh! He was so far ahead now! How did she not properly stretch before the game!?"It's alright, Shri!" Takara called to her as she tried to play catch up, "I got this!" He turned his attention to Pepper and took another defensive stance and smiled at the pikachu. "Give me your best shot, Pepper!" He said, keeping an eye on Shri as she made her way down the field. He'd have to make sure she got checked out, but she seemed fine. Perhaps a lack of potassium?

Pepper glanced back at the pained noise behind him from Shri, a look of concern on his fuzzy yellow face. Oh no! Was she okay? ...Okay, she seemed alright, she paused to take care of whatever it was, that was fine... he'd stop in a moment to check anyway though before they continued. Any pain wasn't fun! It was pain! He also gave Takara a worried glance as the trainer told him to do his best. Didn't his best cause pain to the tall person's arms? That wasn't good! Hmm... maybe Pepper wasn't good at this team sport stuff.
Arris looked over at his bag where it had been set aside. He was pretty sure he had some potions with him... He'd make note of that - and he'd have to check, anyway. It wasn't good if a teammate cramped up, that could definitely hurt. "Hang in there Shri!" he also called after, "You doin' okay? Don't press it if it's painful, yeah?" He was genuinely concerned; she seemed fine, but cramps could hurt. "But you're doin' great!"
Pepper was ready to make his shot, too; careful, careful... he went for a hard whack with his tail! Trying to keep the ball lower this time, so maybe it wouldn't hurt Takara's arms again. He tried, at least!

Shri came to a stop and gave a thumbs up at Arris, deciding that since Pepper was so close to the goal that she could take the moment to stretch out the cramp. Yup, she hadn't stretched properly before. She turned her attention to wait with baited breath...Takara noticed that Pepper held back some force from that hit--which was much appreciated! But Takara saw how the ball curved and made a dash to try and get it, the ball brushing against their fingers as it landed right into the makeshift goal. Ah! Damn! Takara smiled and picked up the ball. "That's game!" He called, carrying the ball as he ran over to Shri. Takara put the ball down and had her sit down, checking her leg. "You'll be alright, just gotta keep off that leg for a bit, hm?" Takara smiled, Shri giving one of her own before they both looked towards their newfound friends. "Thanks for the game! Ah, if you want, I can give you my contact info so we can meet up again! This was really fun!" Plus, Takara felt Arris' team would be good for the rest of Takara's pokemon, especially Orion. Maybe meeting a pokemon as confident as Pepper would be good for the little guy...

Looking up and ascertaining that yes, Pepper and Takara were both fine and doing well, Arris looked back to Shri and also gave a thumbs-up back with a beaming smile. "Glad you're okay there, then!"
He definitely understood the merits of stretching - and the consequences that came from not doing it. Learned that lesson one too many times the hard way and probably would continue to, as well... ah! Anyway - Arris looked back to the game in time to see the soccer ball just barely miss Takara's outstretched hand. It took actual effort to prevent his jaw from dropping. They'd... won? They'd really won!? Buzzing with excitement, Arris let out a whoop of joy, leaping up and fistpumping the air! "Booyah! Pepper, you're amazing buddy! You did it!" He immediately regret it a moment later, the leg he'd taken those intense blocks from protesting the impact. But he was so so proud of Pepper!
The Pikachu cried out with excitement, looking between Takara and Arris before zooming around in circles and taking off towards his trainer, leaping at him at mach speed. Arris caught the Pikachu with a laugh, spinning him around before nuzzling noses with the electric mouse. It made his hair fluff up a bit from the static and he burst into laughter. "Oh, I'm so proud of you Peps. So proud!" The Pikachu happily squealed before scrambling back up onto Arris' shoulder.
Nodding at Takara, Arris took a moment to pick his bag up and get his phone out of it before trotting over. "Yeah absolutely! That was a ton of fun, thank you all so much. I'd absolutely love to do it again sometime. Here, lemme just..." He fiddled with his phone for a moment to pull up a new contact page, before handing his phone over to Takara with a grin. "There we go!"

Takara chuckled at the glee from Arris and Pepper's win. It was well deserved! Hoisting Shri up on their shoulder, Takara did feel as if they and Shri had sort of... bonded over the whole thing. Felt closer together, if anything. That didn't mean much, but it did mean they might at least work together better.Taking the phone, Takara inserted their personal phone number before handing it back to Arris. "Work is sometimes pretty busy, but I always make time for friends, so feel free to give me a call whenever you want! I live in Sylvanport, but I tend to travel around everywhere for work." Not that Takara had to, they wanted to. It was different to make deals with folks rather than some poor intern that would be blamed if the deal ever went sour.
"And at any rate, I'd love to meet the rest of your pokemon sometime! I think it'd be a great opportunity. You guys have so much energy, it's wonderful!" Takara chuckled, Shri nodding in agreement. Now... they probably had to get Shri to the pokemon center just to get her checked out. She would probably be fine, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure she was in good condition before going back home.

Before sliding it back into his own pocket, Arris sent a quick text to the new number. Nothing fancy, just a [Hey! It’s Arris Yule, so now you have my number too!] before putting it away. Was only polite afterall! He gave a definitive nod and a bright grin. “Yeah of course! Being a trainer full-time now I also travel a good bit. I’ll be sure to hit ya up when I’m in the area.”
It would be fun! Friends were always a great time, and getting Arris’ team more socialized and diversified was always a bonus. His pokemon loved each other (mostly), but he understood you could only play with the same friends so much. “We try to, ahaha! I’m sure they’d love to meet you too! My partner Belle especially. If you breathe, she’s already makin’ friends with ya. … Or even if you don’t breathe too, really.” He had to think about that for a moment. Yeah, Belle really would befriend anything, even if it wasn’t something actually alive.
Stretching and cracking his shoulders, Arris let out a happy sigh. “Well, this has been a ton of fun, but! I’m sure you guys have places you need to be. And speaking of my team, I’d best make sure they haven’t unleashed mayhem on my friend who’s baby-sittin’ em today...” He snorted. It was doubtful, but still. Arris didn’t want his old co-worker too grumpy or he wouldn’t let Arris borrow his old pontoon. “It’s been awesome meeting you though, Takara. I’ll make sure we talk soon, yeah? And that I get to meet your other teammates too!”

The smiled and nodded. Wow, Arris really was a stand-up fella, huh? "Of course! Oh, and, if you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask. I can always make time." It was true, plus, Takara felt... happier? To have met a potentially great friend. It was nice to have an actual social life outside of work now, versus planning employee birthday parties and making sure everyone had the perfect cake and special company-sponsored dinner. Another thing the board didn't like but they could stuff it.They gave a smile, a wave and a final goodbye before heading off. They looked up at Shri, the pokemon seeming very pleased with the bonding session and with meeting Arris. "Good vibes from that one?" Takara asked. Shri nodded. Nothing but good vibes! Takara smiled. "Good. We'll be sure to hang out with 'em soon enough. Promise." Shri smiled. That was good, she was excited to see Pepper again and maybe play another game. Oh! Maybe with a whole team of players this time! That would be awesome! But first, pokemon center. ||FINISHED||
