The thunder is competing with the sound of the roaring rain and crashing waves for superiority of noise and ferocity. Fitting, considering the innate ferocity of the single trainer on the boat that is cutting through the waves.
Mya has found herself on an interesting adventure: to the up to this point wholly isolated Salve Island. Nobody knows what's going on there - the company owns the island... and there was a massive explosion leaving only one survivor. And now, people are being brought onto the island, one at a time, spaced out, to wander and catch Pokemon.
The docking of the boat is as rough as the seas. It is no wonder people haven't made it out here on Pokemon and unchartered boats... if the seas weren't vicious enough, the dock is something that is, ah, very loosely given that title. The sands are black as soot and shining brightly with each flash of lightning, and before Mya is the dark and ominous expanse of the wooded mystery that is Salve Island.
Three hours and the ship will blow its horn. Until then, you can catch as many Pokemon as you're able, and go where you like. If you aren't back when the horn blows, you will be brought back. Those are the rules.... so what will you do?
OOC: The encounter begins!
(Please be sure to post your active Pokemon's statblock in your first post's OOC section!)

She stared at the swinging lamp in the ship as they approached the island, glaring up at it with an expression on her face that may have indicated she was either deep in thought or pissed at something. In reality, she was trying to keep her lunch down while her arms were sprawled out on the back of the couch, her legs straight out with her heavy boots resting on the ground. Her jacket was draped over her shoulders, but she knew she'd have to put it on as the air got colder and colder the worst the storm got.
Finally, they came to port. She put her feet firmly on the ground and stood up, slipping her arms into her heavy coat and stepping off the ship onto the ancient dock that threatened to give out under her. Mya sniffed, blinking rapidly against the rain that began to drip from her eyelashes. She should have brought an umbrella, but too little too late.
She made her way to the beach and flicked two pokeballs out. One was of a pokemon with bright orange skin and a flaming tail that hissed with steam against the rain. Atlas Arris let out a cry as he was let out, shaking the rain off of his skin only for more to fall. He looked at Mya with disappointment. She turned her attention to the other pokemon.
The little axew opened his eyes to the stormy island. Vulcan. Mya hadn't had time to properly train him since opening her gym. But this little trip was the perfect chance to get Vulcan some actual field experience.
"Listen up," she said, drawing the eyes of the two pokemon. "Your job today is to encounter some pokemon and prove to me you can handle yourself. Arris is here in case things go south, and Eon is on reserve if Arris can't handle himself. Got it?"
The axew snorted. Mya's eyes narrowed. "Got. It?" she asked again, her voice growing fiercer. Vulcan hesitated, but finally let out a nod. He wasn't a fool. He had watched Mya's gym battles and knew she was capable of handling her team. But that didn't mean he had to hand everything to her!
"Good. You wander off, you don't get dinner. You pick fights without my order, you don't get breakfast. Keep being a brat, and you fight Wormy in the ring." She began to walk off, Atlas following her and motioning for Vulcan to do the same. The little axew did, waddling out to be slightly in front of Mya. He could behave himself! She should just wait and see how great he is at behaving himself!I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service

The black sands stretch out like infinite ink into the horizon. Black, thundering skies. Black, glistening sands. Black, twisting silhouettes of trees in the distance at the edge of the shore. Everything is dark... ominous... a living horror movie. Something roars in a terrible manner, an echoing metallic bellow in the far distance that sends birds scattering into the sky. It is echoed moments later by a rippling peal of thunder.
This is the kind of dark where the frightening things go bump in the night. Things... like a certain Pokemon slinking along the beach.
Her tail and body glide effortlessly over the sand and in the water's surf in elegant undulating ribbons. The spray tickles at the fins around her horns, and she delights in the corporeal contact. She is alone - she always has been.
She isn't supposed to be. Her kind - ancient though they are, they are pack creatures. One of a flock. Little ones like her are often seen amongst their evolved brethren. Shifting along the water, diving in and out of the surf that they haunt, tucking themselves away in the eel-hides of other's horns... that was her kind's way. A family. A pack. A group to call her unit to protect and play and preserve. A sense of belonging.
All she has ever known are sterile labs and white walls and experiment after experiment pulling at her form from faceless monsters trying to pry her history apart. What makes her tick? What was she when she was 'alive' - and how do they recreate that again? Test after test, note after note, experiments bleeding together until her life was nothing but a blur.
But no more. And now she is alone. But she doesn't have to be...
The ethereal dragon slides her way up the beach towards the walking trio. They haven't noticed her. She is so good. So excellent. So quiet. Her circumstances have made her able to survive. An apex predator, a threatening beast.... and one here to play!
Very suddenly, she zooms across the sand, her paws tucked in close to her body. The little one swerves between Mya's legs mid-step, twisting, diving around Atlas Arris as well, so that she can very suddenly lunge upwards and into Vulcan's face!
BOO!!!!
Surprise! She is here! She got you! The fellow little dragon lets out an Astonishing croaking chirp of delight as she leaps upward in an attempt to jumpscare Vulcan, before swirling around herself, fins fluttering. Her bright yellow eyes glow like tiny suns in the darkness, alert and bright and very focused. Peekaboo! She found them, first!

Action: Vulcan uses False Swipe! (which will have no effect cause of a ghost type, just trying to ensure this counts as a "battle" for level-up purposes xD) + Mya invites the Dreepy to play hide and seek with them again on the beach, and an attempt to disengage from battle! (she will be aiming for eventual capture after the game <3)

The storm was relaxing in a way, the darkness casting a sense of ease she hadn't been able to know in a long time. Running the gym was great and she adored finally being able to proactively help her town, but it was an exhausting, thankless job. Especially among those that still refused to acknowledge pokemon being important for the future of Famine. Their town had suffered for so long, and now they had a chance to actually make something of themselves... or at least prepare until they vanished again. The very thought filled her with dread. But-
Mya nearly jumped backwards, but she managed to simply stop shot of her walk as she tried to follow the movements of the swift little thing that darted around Atlas, causing a surprised croak from the lizard, only to witness the... attack? On Vulcan.
Mya felt an order build up in her throat, but she bit it back. She blinked.
Vulcan, on the other hand, jumped back in shock and instantly let loose a False Swipe that, to his surprise, passed right through the strange pokemon! He waved his claws again, as if trying to touch them. What sorcery was this!? He then got into a battle position, glowering and ready to attack, looking back to Mya for orders-
Mya let out a loud, barking laugh. "Oh my Rayquaza! You got us good, little buddy!" She smiled, putting her hands on her hips as she studied the little pokemon. "You are just adorable! Look at you! Quick as a Quick Attack, too! I didn't even see you!"
Vulcan relaxed his posture, although disappointed. He could have taken this, this thing! But... he looked back at the dreepy... there was no threat here, was there? Right? He looked to Atlas Arris who gave a shrug, also chuckling a bit. The charmeleon focused on getting his tail to glow brighter in the rain to shed a tiny bit of light on their new playmate.
Mya took out her phone, a pang of sorrow hitting her. A gift from the late Professor Yew... Mya shook off the feeling, as if she shivered, opening up the pokedex. She read the information, quickly looking around, shining the phone's flashlight on the ocean. There was.... no one else out here? No other dreepy? She frowned and shut off the light, thinking for a moment before giving a smile.
"Hey! Little buddy! You wanna play another round with us? Maybe we hide, say... no deeper than two trees into the woods, yeah? And you come find all of us! Including-" she tossed out the last pokeball of her team, Eon coming into site as his weight slammed against the beach, tossing up a lot of sand. The bowling ball of a pokemon opened his eyes to the scene before him. "My other bud here? What do you say? Think you can find all four of us in, say, three minutes?" she held up three fingers. "But we get a head start to hide!"
Vulcan let out a sigh, along with Eon. Of course Mya would try to make friends with the first thing she sees on this island. Why anyone thought she was intimidating was beyond her pokemon's understanding. Atlas Arris, though, seemed very excited about this game! The charmeleon nodded eagerly, ready to play hide and seek!I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service

Harmless, Vulcan's claws fade through the Dreepy. There is a wispiness to her appearance, a flutter, a shadow that reforms into her solid body. It tickles! Hee-hee! How wonderful! She trills, her voice like an off-tune lullaby, and wriggles her head, her fins, her whole body as Vulcan waves in an attempt to gain any purchase, that only lands against eerily cool scales when he does it gentle enough to be only a tap.
When he backs up, she twirls again, her eyes staring, unblinking. Oh! Is this tag? Friend tag? She likes tag too, that's okay! But rather than tag, the Dreepy makes a peeping noise at Mya's laugh, sun-bright eyes with pinprick pupils changing direction to stare up at the human trainer instead. "D...rrrrrrreeeeee....eeee!" She preens, waving her fins in front of her as if waving at the praise. Oh, do go on! Adorable is right, and such attention! Oh!
...It's far better than the monsters in the lab-coats with the machines and needles and experiments ever offered.
She watches the light of the phone with curiosity. It looks like the sterile things, but it isn't being used like the sterile things. And its smaller, too, than the things the monsters used for their notes. It gets shined off into the water, and Dreepy looks too. For a moment, it seems like the dragon's burning eyes shine ever brighter - attempting to outdo the phone, perhaps! I can shine just as bright! See? It feels natural, playing along. There is a sadness to the human - it was there, for a moment. Grief. Ghosts are so intimately familiar...
But not she! This Dreepy is fun! Fun and no longer lonely. Tag was fun, but hide and seek is even better! Her noise of agreement is almost a croak, and she takes off at lightspeed once more, gliding circles around Mya and her team, only doing so faster once Eon's weight hits the sand. She's almost created an accidental mini-cyclone when she changes direction and zips around Atlas Arris' feet - her excitement matches the Charmeleon's stride for stride: yes! Yes! Games and fun! She agrees!
With a cry, the Dreepy launches herself away from the group and down the beach towards the water. But she stops short of the shore, circling around a few times more slowly, before settling, staring at the sand where stormy waters crash against it. She doesn't close her eyes, too excited... but this is privacy enough to go hide, right?
Yes. Of course it is! She knows how to play! She's the play-er-est! Er. Oh. Right - counting. "Dree....dreeee...dreeeee......"
OOC: Battle is DISENGAGED! Hide-and-seek has begun!
AXEW used FALSE SWIPE! But it had no effect... DREEPY will no longer fight! Battle concluded! DREEPY seems willing to play!

She laughed as the pokemon seemed excited with the idea, and the moment it darted off, she rubbed her nose with her thumb and winked at her team. "Get hiding!" she said as she darted for the trees. There weren't many trees to climb in Famine, but that didn't stop Mya from being able to scale almost anything put in front of her like a rabid rattata. She scaled the tree like it was no different from a rock face common in the city. Once she got settled in the higher branches, she took off her jacket and tossed it down to Atlas. She winked at him and he nodded, going a line further into the trees to the maximum distance Mya had set for them all.
She herself settled against the slick branches and the leaves, ignoring the water seeping into her clothes and causing her to shiver as the thunder growled above. This was good enough, yeah? She wanted to be found, of course, but she at least was trying to make it somewhat fun for the odd pokemon.
Atlas took the coat and went to a very wet bush with no risk of setting on fire. He crawled inside and used the coat to hide the glowing light of his tail, putting the area around them all back into natural darkness, only the lighting above piercing it in a eerie glow. She curled up under the coat inside the bush, waiting eagerly to be found.
Vulcan scaled up another tree, using his claws and his tusks to try to get up as high as he could. He stood up at the top. He was on a thinner branch, not as adept at finding good footholds as Mya is, and teeters on the edge of it snapping to holding firm. Yes, this was perfect!
Eon himself wandered a bit further down the beach to a cluster of broken rocks and strange metal sheets. He wiggled in between some of them. He hid his legs in the sand as much as possible and closed his eyes, blending into the rocks and metal. He felt a twang of excitement. A little dragon like that had so much energy it was a breath of fresh air! He could see it in Mya's eyes, love at first site with the little thing. Eon just hoped the creature would at the very least keep her equally entertained during this game.
The group fell into silence, waiting for the Dreepy to announce the start of the clock, and the game would begin.I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service

The white-capped waves lap against the sand with a dull roar as the tide pulls them in… out… in… out… It’s almost hypnotic. The little Dreepy loves the sound. She loves the roar of the tide, the howl of wind, the cold damp of rain pattering on and through her cool, semi-corporeal scales. The sun, when it sometimes peeks through the horizon on the less-cloudy days and its warmth, so bright and warm and… and alive. It isn’t the lab. It isn’t chemical-scented air and cries of fear and the roars of something terrible down below and the slow beeping of monitors and –
What was she doing again?
OH! Right! Yes! Hide-and-seek! The seekiest! Best-ie-est!
“Drrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-peeeeeyyyyyyyyy!!” Ready or not – well, she’s ready. But you might not be! So here she comes!!!
Like a shot, the Dreepy pivots around a few times in a handful of short circles, and then takes off down the beach! She happily trills as she glides, golden pin-prick eyes glowing bright in the stormy darkness, looking around everywhere… and zooming right by Eon without even noticing. Hmm, hmm! Tricky friends! But she will find, yessiree! She pauses a few feet away, floating and waving her fins as if plotting like a little Cutiefly. Golden eyes scan the beach, the wreckage – closer… closer… almost–
A noise sounds not far away in the trees, and the light of Dreepy’s eyes snap up, once again just missing the Shelgon only barely a tail’s length away. She takes off, gliding up and over and zipping like a little misty streak into the trees, honing in like the missile her kind is known as… and pops up right in front of Vulcan! She does a happy little twirl around him, peeping with joy – found you found youuu! – and then pauses to steady her fellow dragon. Whoops! Wouldn’t want him to fall! She makes sure that he can descend safely, oh so careful with a new friend before resuming the search.
Mya can easily see the little ghostly dragon from her vantage as the Dreepy zips around, peeking under even the tiniest of pebbles, growling in a way that can only be described as a delighted giggle. She circles around the tree the human is in multiple times, almost comedically close, looking, looking…
Huh. That bush is glowing. Do bushes usually glow?
Deciding to investigate, Dreepy inches closer, circling slowly around the bush before sloooooowly phasing her head in – and yoinking back out of the bush, flailing her fins with surprise and a startled peep! There’s a Charmeleon in that bush! Hm. Maybe Dreepy was the one who wasn’t ready after all! She sticks her head back in after a moment, floating upside down within Atlas’ tail flame, the licking fire passing harmlessly through her currently incorporeal form. “Dreeeee!”
She waves her little fins at the other Pokemon, and boops him on the nose before zipping off. Got you! Friend! But oh, she’s not much time left! And two more to find! Truly, they must be veterans of the hide-and-seek…
It takes her a bit, the time ticking down lower and lower, rummaging through leaves getting closer to the beach once more. Her gaze scans over Eon’s backside amongst the rocks and rubble, and over the ink-black sand as it gets lit up for a moment with a streak of distant lightning – wait a minute. Didn’t she pass this formation before!? Wait a minute!! Ever so casually, the Dreepy slinks up and into the rocks and metal. The big dragon is like her! Finding the little eel-holes to get comfy in! Well. This is a big hidey-hole. His whole body is kind of a hidey-hole actually… How awesome! She lands gently on the top of his shell and taps upon the hardened scales gently a few times before peeking down to look him in the face. “Eeepy-dreepy!” Found you! Eon is quite good at this! She’s impressed! How lucky to find friends so good at games?
And this trainer most of all! A true master… Oh! But she’s almost out of time! Sorry, big friend, gotta go! The Dreepy takes one last look around the beach – empty of any humans – and zips back into the woods, intent on her search. As the seconds pass she doesn’t find anything, even as she searches human sized hidey-spots. Under… this damp leaf! Aw. Maybe behind this log! Nope. Inside this tree? Oh, wait, no. Only ghosts can go inside solid things. Right. Whoops! Once again Dreepy has neared Mya, and seems to be getting closer without success all the same… Her friend didn’t leave, right? No, no. Surely she wouldn’t. Her other friends are still here so she must be too. She wouldn’t abandon Dreepy. But where could she be…
The timer ticks internally. Down… down… down… and right as the limit is about to expire, Dreepy looks up at the sky to think – and tumbles backwards out of the air with a startled squawk! Human! There! Oh goodness. She’s circled this tree a dozen times. She’s been right there. Oh dear. How silly!
Dreepy covers her face and makes a noise of embarrassment behind her fins, before zipping up the tree to circle around Mya and the branch, trilling. There you are! Knew you didn’t go! See, Dreepy is the find-y-est finder to find! When she finally stops excitedly circling, the Dreepy nuzzles right up into Mya’s arms, bunting her head against Mya’s chin with a little coo. Maybe she won, maybe she lost, but it was so much fun, and the little dragon is just so incredibly happy to have made some friends. Ones that don’t try to maim or maul or devour her, even! It’s almost like having a proper flock. “Dreeeee.~”

The rain came down in sheets and the group had settled in their hiding spots, Vulcan trying to ensure his balance on the slick branch. He was confident he would be found last but as the creature appeared in front of him he gave a shout. If it wasn't for the dreepy he would surely had fallen. He steadied himself, calming his beating heart, and then gave a sincere thank you as he shimmied his way down the tree. He then gave a laugh and sat down to wait for the others to be found. He hoped they would have better luck than him.
Atlas had settled down as much as he could, trying to keep his tail covered but the problem with that was... he did not want to burn Mya's coat. It was fireproof now--it had to be--but that didn't mean he couldn't cover it in soot and he knew how important it was to her. She had it for years, after all. But when the Dreepy's head appeared suddenly then backed out, he couldn't help but let out a laugh. Once the ghost appeared in his tail, Atlas had wiggled himself free and gave a hearty congratulations. He carefully folded Mya's coat up and went to join Vulcan under the tree. The same tree Mya was in. Neither of them looked up at her, pretending she was somewhere else.
Eon, however, stayed as still as a... well, as a rock! His eyes were closed as he enjoyed the sound of rain and waves. Dreaming one day of sailing across the water, carrying his family on his back as they enjoyed the freedom of the skies with him. One day... eventually. When he felt the taps he opened his eyes he let out a grumble of happiness and stood up, beginning his trek to the tree. His weight making the sand around him jump up. He moved slowly outside of battle, but that was to be expected. He was dragging about 80 pounds of solid bone-like shell on him.
Mya watched the Dreepy with a smile. It seemed like she was having a great time! That was good. Mya had a soft spot for little dragons like this, especially ones that were so playful. She bit back a chuckle as each of her pokemon gathered under the tree to signify their loss. But she stayed stock still. Sure, she'd have to change her clothes back on the boat but hey this was a great time!
By the time the Dreepy had found her Mya let out a laugh, happily holding the Dreepy in her arms and accepting the chin bump. "You are very good at this!" She said, releasing the pokemon. "That was great fun--thank you!" Mya jumped out of the tree and stretched. She looked back at the Dreepy. "I'm afraid we can't stay too much longer, though, we have to go deeper into the island and then we'll be forced to leave..." Mya tilted her head and then took out one of the luxury balls. She held it out. "This is called a pokeball. It allows me to take my pokemon family with me wherever I go. If you want--and only if you want--you are welcome to come with us. Otherwise, you are more than welcome to stay here. I'm sure there will be other people that come along wanting to play, too! Its your choice, kid."
Mya waited with no anxiety. This was the Dreepy's decision. While the gym leader would love to have the ghost join her team, there was no expectation. After all, the rules were simple. Be kind to these pokemon. That was Mya's entire goal. But Vulcan began to cheer at the prospect of their new friend coming with them--despite the way they had first met. Atlas gave a nod but also a 'whatever you prefer!' Eon stood there as stoic as ever, willing to accept whatever outcome. He was just glad Mya had fun.

They have to… leave? They can’t stay? The Dreepy coasts to a slow stop as she follows Mya down and then seems to sink like a deflating balloon. Oh… it was so fun, but – no, it makes sense. The last person on the island didn’t stay either. Well. Some had – but in the same manner as she. Ghostly. But wayward poltergeists weren’t fun.
She makes a sad little noise but nods in understanding – until Mya pulls out the Luxury Ball. Dreepy looks up, a little confused – but then she perks up again. She can – she can come? And stay? And go with? And be a flock? Oh! Oh!! Yes!!! A thousand thousand lifetimes’ yes!!
Practically on a dime, the little ghostly dragon zips up again, circling Mya and her team like a little grey-green blur. Her new flock! Oh, goodness, and nobody would cause hurts, or pick her apart, or leave her alone… she zooms into the Pokeball at mach speed, and it rocks back almost violently from the impact in Mya’s hand as the Pokemon is sucked inside.
The click and flash of green is instantaneous, feeling as though it almost before the Dreepy could be sucked all the way inside. There’s no getting rid of her now!
Thunder ripples and peals overhead, the rain getting a bit heavier. The beach will turn into a total downpour soon. The trees above provide what overhead protection they can… but out here, that doesn’t mean much. The darkness seems… palpable, somehow. But it isn’t clear why.
The storm roars, and the wind howls. And there is so much of the island left to discover, as the joy of the encounter quiets with the weather once more.
OOC: Attempt to capture! Roll... successful!

The sheer speed of the Dreepy was impressive, blowing Mya away. How was that thing so fast!? She could only image the future gym battles where this ghost pokemon treated the battlefield like her personal playground, spinning circles around the challengers. And the sheer force she smacked into the luxury ball had Mya juggling it to try and prevent it from dropping. She finally caught it and gave it a smile. "Welcome to the family, bud," she said breathlessly. She carefully shrunk the ball and put it on her belt. Now...
Mya shrugged her coat back on, giving Atlas a nod of thanks as the fire type used his naturally hot body to dry it out for her. Sharp eyes looked to the woods. "Let's go see what else this place has. I have a feeling this place is hiding more than we think."
She walked into the forest, motioning for Atlas to take the lead with his light. Vulcan hopped on the top of Eon's shell as the Shelgon set the pace. Slow and steady. It gave Mya a chance to also get her flashlight out.
"Stay attuned to our surroundings," she said firmly. "We got lucky that Dreepy was friendly and wanted to play, Vulcan. But that could have been very bad. I don't know if you noticed, but that pokemon could have wiped the floor with you. She's so young but already so strong." The little dragon crossed his arms and huffed, sitting on Eon's shell. Mya chuckled. "You'll be there one day, but I don't want you getting unnecessarily hurt. This place is dangerous. I brought you so you can learn to follow orders. Watch Atlas Arris and Eon for now okay? And then one day, you'll be at the same level they are!"
The Axew considered this for a moment then gave a nod. That sounded good. He wanted to get stronger, to evolve to his final form to really show his strength. And so far Mya had done nothing to earn disrespect and the rest of the team looked strong. He'd have to work hard to get there, of course...

The storm growls overhead, lightning flaring with a mighty crash so loud as to split the sky in half. The light from the strike illuminates the myriad of winding paths in the wood as Mya’s team continues into the island, gnarled tree shadows looking like hydra heads splintered in the flash. And just as quick, it is dark again, eerily silent save for the howl of the wind and the constant war drum of rain pouring down from above.
The only light seems to be from Atlas’ tail and Mya’s flashlight, and everywhere the illumination isn’t, darkness and shadow creep in like an ill omen. Even during storms, forests aren’t quiet like this. But neither are they so torn – the further that Mya and her Pokemon enter the woods, the worse the health of the forest seems to become. Massive knotted trees become twisted and gnarled things, turned half to charcoal from searing flame. Some trees have been uprooted entirely if they haven’t burnt to the ground, chunks of hardware, concrete and metal lodged into them as if thrown with extreme force. Deep rivets gouge through roots as if meteors have trailed through the mud.
A noise echoes. Slow, creeping, a hideous wail like claws ripping down a chalkboard. Silence. And then again, slower, quieter.
As Mya approaches, the trees thin out. There is a fairly large opening in the wood; the trees here are sliced at strange angles, bisected across the glade as if they have been not just sliced… but sliced precisely, clean through, even if the angles themselves are chaotic and incomprehensible. Where a handful of entire trees is upended is a crash site of what appears to be chunks of some kind of machine, blown to kingdom come. The shadows seem darker than what is natural around it – til…
ScreeeeEEEeEEeEEEeEEEEEEEEEeech………
Claws dark as shadow rake through the metal, leaving thin gouging marks behind, sharpening, honing themselves. A soft giggle, like that of a small girl’s, follows – and then another horrid screech of nail against metal, and something shifts in the wreckage.
Are those… Pikachu ears? What looks something like a battered, messed-up Pikachu hauls itself up on top of the wreckage, and the wretched giggling echoes again, coming from everywhere and nowhere at once. The Pikachu slowly stands up, straightens itself – and as its hunched form twists towards Mya, the head lolls dangerously to the side as if broken, like a marionette. “Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiii miiiiii……”

Action: Mya throws a Luxury Ball (to kinda attempt a capture? Mechanically yes.)
Items: 0/3
Mya shined her flashlight around, also using the light from Atlas' tail to inspect the area. Destruction. Devastation. Burned. Twisted. Destroyed. Shadows around every corner. It had a creepy, unsettling air about it as the storm raged on, the mist from the falling rain adding a certain level of ambiance that someone poetic would probably appreciate. Someone who would look for the explanation, a reason, for something to connect all of this together...
That person was not Mya.
The woman sniffed and looked around. "Man..." she said with a bored tone. "This place is a dump." The screeching noises of metal was weird, though. Deep gashes in trees, in metal, in-
"Oh, hell no," Mya says as she hears the giggle. "Nuh-uh, I don't fucking think so this place is haunted. I don't fuck with ghosts."
Her entire team turned to look at her. The one who had just caught a Dreepy, a ghost type, which could phase through everything including her. Eon let out a deep, heavy sigh. He loved Mya, he did. She was a smart woman, but her intelligence was in one thing and one thing only: street smarts. Survival. How to get out alive. Famine didn't have actual schools--not like the big cities did. Most of what she learned was on the road in her family's caravans according to her. The rest came from trying to scrape by enough money and food on the streets.
Mya took in the looks. "Alright, look," she said as she watched something move in the shadows. "Dreepy was fine. That's a ghost dragon. That's a cute ghost, one I can handle. This?" She pointed at the thing. "This is a ghost girl and I ain't fucking with it."
She slipped out a luxury ball from her bag and took aim. "If this misses we're gunning it outta here."
Atlas spit some fire at that. He didn't want to run! He wanted to fight! But his eyes didn't trace the cuts in everything like Eon's did. The larger pokemon already started to move back with Vulcan hanging onto his shell. The orb of a beast could get up and go if he had to. And he recognized when they were in a bad spot.
Mya looked into the darkness, watching the movements. And the moment that head popped up and that... whatever it was--Pikachu? Creepiest Pikachu she ever did saw-- she peeled her arm back, lifted her leg, and used the momentum to give the strongest pitch she could with that luxury ball aiming right in the center to knock the thing off of the metal.
Atlas watched intently, moving to get in front of Mya just in case this thing was or wasn't a pokemon and got any ideas.

The Luxury Ball whistles through the air. One might even see the displacement of rain as it passes like a speeding bullet straight from the mound of an all-star pitcher. No matter what the ball hits, there’s gonna be some damage – whether what it damages is its target or otherwise. The Mimikyu shifts, taking a slow lurching step forward on the wreckage, the claws of the shadowy form beneath the rag hissing across metal as she picks up her wooden tail club, tapping it on the steel like a batter up to swing. That is… were she aware of the black and red spherical missile of death honed in on her location. “Miiiiiiiiiiiii kyuuuuu….. Miiiiii miiii-kyuuuu….”
C R A C K !
The ball hits dead-on bullseye to the Pokemon’s face, right between those twisted Pikachu ears. Lightning flashes – and the head snaps back, twisting backwards with a sickening noise as the body deflates with the beginnings of a terrible banshee screech, shadow claws flailing upwards, grasping and twisting and –
It is sucked into the ball. Which clicks, definitively, a moment later as it falls into the murk of the steel wreckage. Capture… complete?
Inside the ball, the Mimikyu wonders what the hell just happened. But she is caught now – and there’s no point in arguing that. Oh well! That’s… a problem to deal with later.

"They didn't know why these things were funny. Sometimes you laugh because you've got no more room for crying. Sometimes you laugh because table manners on a beach are funny. And sometimes you laugh because you're alive, when you really shouldn't be." -Terry Pratchett Was Hercules ever like, "Yo, I don't wanna fight Cerberus?"
Action: Added to tracker! Move to Area 3, please!

The look of horror on Mya's face was palatable as whatever was under that cloth desperately tried to reach up and grab it, a collection of dark shadowy arms and tendrils and whatever else was under there was horrifying to behold. As the entire thing snapped into the luxury ball and it fell into the mud, the gym leader stood there with mouth agape, brow furrowed in... horror? Disgust?
"Aw... HELL YEAH!" She cheered and pumped her fist. Nope! None of the above. Just pride at her own aim. "Take that ya creepy ghost kid!"
Her team relaxed, giving her a look. At least everyone was safe but that perhaps wasn't the smartest idea. Ignoring their looks of silent judgement, Mya went to pick up the luxury ball. She wiped off the mud, stuck it in her pocket, and then continued on the path with her team following. Atlas let out a sign. No battle so far, but maybe later... At least Vulcan was learning to pick your battles.
Once more through the trees, deeper into the island. Mya knew their time was quickly running out here, so she wanted to see all that she could. What other pokemon lied deeper in?
I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service

The wreckage only gets worse the further in Mya goes. Trees go from strangely cut to completely obliterated, either by fire, or the sheer force of… something. Some of it might be from the blast of what threw the wreckage so incredibly far. But some of it… looks done by malice – by something big smashing through undergrowth and shards of iron and concrete alike. It is through one such path of destruction that the destroyed facility comes into view.
The building was massive, once. That much is clear by what remains of the steel scaffolding, a massive hole blown through the wall exposing much to the air and leaving behind unstable foundations. Bits of machinery and concrete and brick are everywhere like a hazardous minefield, and where the lab isn’t, are craters of earth blown to kingdom come. Some of the rooms are still intact, if not scorched, and the shattered glass, battered machinery, and a smattering of dark stained burnt into the floor paint a gruesome picture.
It is in one of these partially-intact lab rooms that Mya hears a noise. A crunching. Something… eating something? As the team approaches around the corner, a massive hulking form becomes visible near a broken capsule in the back. The form appears to be tearing at something on the ground. The light of Mya’s flashlight and Atlas’ tail shines up, flickering in the dark of the storm, and between them and a flash of lightning overhead –
What… in the hells is that!?
The beast looks like a frankenstein’s monster – pieces and parts that do not belong. Massive clawed feet attach to a curved, spined tail…body? Neck? Curved fins balance the beast at its jaw, the massive fangs of which are biting down on something. The head itself has a hard, shield-like appearance, and at the flash of the light, it turns. The thing it was tearing apart appears to be… part of a machine. Beady eyes glare over at Mya, squinting against the light. Shapes… shapes… HUMAN shapes. No! No more testing! No more prodding! No more experiment after experiment!
It already has so much confusion in its brain – something made an amalgamated part, that isn’t right; but is immensely powerful despite its wrongness. It wasn’t meant to be, but it is now, and it will have no more part of the humans that kept it in this tube, picking away at it with these machines!
It drops the machine from its maw with a crash upon the ground, and then roars, shaking its head from side to side before charging. “DDRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYY!!!” For such a strange and put-together body, the Dracovish is shockingly fast, and clears the room in just a few short steps, slamming its head like a wrecking ball of a Brutal Swing sideways into Atlas Arris, sending the Charmeleon flying through the room. The momentum of the movement and the swing has the massive fossil Pokemon’s side crash partially through the wall near Mya, and it rights itself with another screech, ready to fend off yet another scientist, another human, with their attack dogs used to force it to submit. It will submit no longer!
OOC: A wild DRACOVISH appeared!
