The World Tried to Burn All the Mercy out of Me
Active Team: Eon || Level 15 || Rock Head
Fuji || Level 2 || Blaze
Járnsaxa || Level 3 || Guts
Huh, who knew how easy fights were when you had some pokemon? Eon's flashes of embers and snagging bites were enough to chase the ne'er-do-wells off. Over the years of living in this city, Mya had lost patience for a couple of things. One, people acting better than others for any reason. Two, people that stole from the poor instead of the rich. The rich could stand to lose a few bucks but the people of Famine? Sometimes it was all they had. And three, she couldn't abide by people treating their pokemon badly or people trying to steal another person's pokemon. So perhaps that was why when a punch landed solidly on an asshole's nose, she took the chance to take em to the ground and snatch back the pokeball they had stolen from the sniffling child. "If I EVER catch you here AGAIN doing this same fucking SHIT, I'll let Eon dragon breath you into the next fucking YEAR! Now GET!" She snarled, kicking one of them as they scrambled up off the ground and away. Eon chased after them with a growling snarl, leaving some of his shedding scales behind as he blasted out several more embers at their pants legs. He skidded to a stop as they took off down one of the turning alleys and gave a powerful cry, stomping his foot. He was getting bigger. Mya was slightly worried at the new-found aggression, but it was soon dashed when she saw him turn and smile at her, happily running back. "Good job, Eon." She turned to the child and handed back the dusty pokeball. "Here, try to hold onto it better, alright? And if they ever bother you again, you know how to find me." She wiped the kid's tears away with an old piece of shirt she had shoved in her pocket a while ago. The kid sniffed again and nodded, standing up and running back to their parents with their pokeball tightly gripped in their hands.
Mya did a quick survey of what was famously known as her turf in the city. She had grown up here, but this section was always the one she patrolled as a youth. It wasn't the best part of the town, but she did what she could to keep it safer than some other parts. Although, she would like to see the whole city improve. Somethings would take more time but one day.... her and Eon were going to help this place. Famine wouldn't be something to sneeze at then. They'd be the top dogs and leading by example. Sniffing and wiping some blood from her nose, Mya took a glance at her hands. Her knuckles were bloody and bruised, but nothing she wasn't used to. She hadn't wrapped up her hands that morning. Damn it, she should have known there was going to be some sort of scrap. She leaves town for a few weeks and this is what happens! People running around, acting without manners or sense.
A quick glance at Eon told her he was fine. Shedding scales like crazy, with some harder parts seeming to rise out of his skin, but otherwise fine. He was just a weirdo, she guessed. He didn't seem in pain just.... itchy.

Arris felt like a video-game character that had an overburdened inventory and therefore couldn't run. Except instead of a bag full of two hundred pieces of miltank cheese, it was three Pokemon that had decided to use him as their pack-Mudbray. Belle had graduated from the man's head to his shoulder, much to Arris' relief. She'd grown a good bit recently, and was no longer the tiny berry that could sit on his head without problems. In fact... his neck still hurt from the last time she'd tried.
On his other shoulder was Pepper the Pikachu, who was perched lightly and looked to be wearing a pair of sunglasses. Now, Pepper was much lighter and wasn't nearly as much of an issue with size as Belle... but he was looking like the kind of smug hipster in a coffee-shop who you'd want to deck for mansplaining with the shades, which was an entirely different weight on Arris' soul. And last but not least, making the shoulder bearing Belle lean down even further and ache slightly was none other than Louis the Slakoth, who was clinging to the strap of Arris' bag like it was a tree branch. Overburdened indeed!
Despite the supposed assistance of his Pokemon though, and the way that he couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for help (if they even looked... approachable), Arris had found that he was entirely lost in the city of Famine. Hopelessly so, even. He'd just been looking for the Pokemon Center, and then Pepper had run off after something shiny (turned out to be his new shades) and now look! Ages later, he was wandering the streets and alleys without the faintest hope of where he was.
Arris paused as he heard footsteps up ahead. Pepper and Belle both perked up too. Oh, was there voices? Yelling? That... didn't sound great-- but people! If people were talking maybe he could ask for directions and get the hell outta these alleys. The man had just started heading towards the sound when a group of people came tearing around the corner at a full tilt run. "Shit!" Arris plastered himself against the wall as they sprinted by to avoid being run over, one hand carefully protecting Louis, the other raised in defense. The folks were cursing as they took off. One seemed to be limping, there was definitely blood involved, and the third's pants were absolutely on fire. "What the hell!?"
They looked like they'd had the fear of Arceus put in them - but to look that rough, there had to be some serious danger, right!? And the fire - was everything okay? Were people in danger? What if someone else was still... On instinct and without thought, Arris returned Louis to his ball so he could sprint down the direction the people had come. "Sorry, Louis! But we gotta move fast here!" If someone was in danger, he had to help! Belle and Pepper clung on for dear life.
As Arris veered around the corner, however, he found himself skidding to a halt, his sneakers scuffing loudly on the ground. Belle nearly went flying off his shoulder with a startled "Swee!" before catching herself and smacking Arris against the side of his neck with a leaf. There wasn't any immediate danger here. In fact, it looked like a fight had ended. Bits of spattered blood and shed scales... there were still embers burning on the ground. They must have belonged to the large blue-grey scaled Pokemon stomping about. And there were other people, yes. A child leaving the other direction, and - "Mya???"
Arris' eyes blew wide in shock. He certainly recognized his friend alright, with her strikingly pale hair, which meant that other Pokemon must be Eon. But what was Mya doing here in the same back streets that Arris was completely lost in? "Oh wow, it is you!"

Ugh. Mya wiped some blood coming out of her nose and sniffed. All she could smell was that hot copper. Maybe one of those bastards got her harder than she had thought. Eon frowned up at her. Humans were rather squishy, weren't they? They had no real form of protection in the sense of armor or moves... but-Mya and Eon both looked in the direction of the voice. Aw, shit, Mya thought to herself. Well, it was nice to see a friend and all, but Arris wasn't really... Famine material in Mya's mind. She glanced over him, taking note of the two pokemon riding on his shoulders. Yeah. Not Famine material. She didn't have to worry about Eon being nabbed. He had gotten too big for her to carry without some back pain. Plus, he was more than happy to clamp his jaws on someone. Oh well, at least Arris looked fine and not like he had been robbed or something. She sniffed and wiped some of the blood coming from her nose on her tank top before giving a wave. "Sup?"
Eon gave a happy cry, throwing his little arms out in greeting and walking over to them. He was... much bigger than before, now coming up to Mya's knee. His scales were falling out in patches and exposing a soft grey that looked like it was much harder than his current scales. Poor boy kept rubbing up against corners to try and scratch the scales off. But the itchiness didn't stop him from wanting to say hello to his friends!
Mya approached shortly after. Usually she'd offer some sort of handshake in greeting but considering her knuckles were bloody she was sure Arris wouldn't want blood on him. Was it hers or the other guys? Yes.
She looked at the pikachu with a raised eyebrow. Huh. Interesting. "I see you expanded your team! I like this little guy, he's funky," she said, motioning to the pikachu. "So, what have you been up to?" She sniffed again. Stupid bloody nose. Ugh. "Hey, wanna chat at a cafe? I know one pretty close by. It's alright. The owners are sweet." They were also used to Mya coming in with blood on her and they always had some medical supplies. They always said it was the least they could offer to the person that had--on more than one occasion--chased thieves down the streets to get back stolen money and other customer's purses and bags. No one could escape Mya for long on these streets. She knew them all like the back of her hand. It was a million times easier with Eon now. It looked like he wouldn't be able to run very fast on those stubby legs, but he could really book it. He was faster than Mya now. She didn't know how, he was starting to weigh up to 98 pounds. Must be those new scales coming in.

Grinning back, Arris waved as well with a cheerful - if not mildly relieved expression. He wasn't sure why Mya was out here but boy was he happy to see her. Mya was smart and resourceful. She could probably help get him out of this area. "Hey! And aha, hello there bud - look how you've grown!" Arris knelt down as Eon approached first. Pepper bounded up to his head, looking down at the dragon with a cautiously curious expression. Belle on the other hand bounced down immediately once she recognized Eon, squealing in excitement and dusting the Bagon with her leaves. She'd grown too - but she was certainly much smaller than Eon now than she was previously. Arris himself reached out with his gloved hand to scratch at some of the itchy scales for the fellow. "Lookin' good, pal!"
"Yeah," Arris chuckled as he reached his other hand up to rub Pepper's cheek gently, flinching a bit at the static shock from the gesture, "We've got some new family! This is Pepper. He's... hah, funky is a good word. Been doing a lot more training, camping... how about you?" The Pikachu looked up to Mya, lowering his shades and twitching his long ears in greeting. Arris was about to respond 'sure' to chatting at a cafe when he heard Mya sniffle, and looked up to her properly. His eyes widened in shock now that he was seeing her up close. "Oh, fuck - Mya!" He shot up onto his feet instantly, before raising his hand to bite down onto the cloth of his ever-present glove, pulling it off and pushing it into his bag gently before rummaging around and producing a clean kerchief. She was bleeding!? How had Arris not noticed - Arceus was she okay? He was suddenly glad that he'd panicked and gone running into the alley.
He moved to press the kerchief into her hands when he noticed that those were also bleeding. "What the hell happened?" The expression on Arris' face was earnest and concerned. So she wouldn't have to use possibly painful hands to deal with blood, he gently and carefully dabbed at Mya's face himself - probably a stupid thing to do without asking permission or consent, and Mya was well within her rights to deck him for it, but he'd deal with that when he wasn't worrying. And wouldn't be angry, either - it would be totally deserved. "Pepper, get another cloth out of my bag. Who did this? Was it those people I ran into in the alley over?"
Almost anxiously he checked Mya over for other injuries until the Pikachu scaled down his back to the bag, looking around inside before pulling out another cloth. He lowered the hand holding the bloody kerchief, handing the clean one over. "Here, for your hands. Yeah - yeah let's get out of here. A cafe? Lead the way. I always have a first aid kit on me because of my own problems but that needs to get cleaned up - I just... shit, yeah. Are you okay?"
At his feet, Belle looked up with an expression of shock, before turning and waving her leaves widely at Eon. Was he okay? There were missing scales but was he harmed too? Rough patches, injuries.... it didn't look like it, but Belle was just a juicy berry so what did she know?

Eon was so thankful for the scritches. He let out a deep purring growl when some of the scales were knocked loose. That was so much better. Not perfect, but better! Who knew he had so many scales? When Belle came down to greet him, he gave a smile and a hello. It was always nice to see a friend! His eyes did flick up to the pikachu tho. He gave a small nod in greeting, but it was cautious. He wondered if this pikachu would start problems.... probably not. Eon wasn't in the mood to fight anyone at the moment.Mya did a short nod towards the pikachu. "Sup, Pepper?" Seemed like a good pokemon, had personality. She was about to answer Arris' question before she stopped, watching him with wide eyes. She glanced around, wondering what she had done to get that response. She was frozen when he started to dab the blood away. It was... a sweet gesture, but she reached up to grab his hand with a blank stare. She had a reputation to uphold here! "Just a usual fight," she shrugged. "Ah, so you ran into em, eh? Yeah, those bastards tried to steal a kid's pokeball. I don't abide by that behavior so, well, I took care of it." She took the clean handkerchief and and wiped her hands a bit. She gave a soft whistle to Eon as she turned to start walking towards the cafe, dabbing her knuckles. It stung, but she had dealt with worse. "Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm good. This isn't new or anything." She finished patting up her hands and held the handkerchief, wondering what to do with it now. "The cafe I know of also have a first aid kit. I'll clean up in their restroom." Ugh, she hated Arris had to see any of this. Yeah, Famine was a rough town but it wasn't bad. Most people only did bad things because they had no other choice. Hopefully this all didn't spark any negative feelings towards the town. A majority of the people were doing their best, after all. "But, uh, to answer your earlier question, I caught some new pokemon. Went to the Maw with a nerd friend of mine which was fun. Just got back from trading Eelington for a caterpie. I don't know what I'm going to do with a caterpie, but ya know. I caught a wooper too. She's a dumbass, but that's alright."
Eon quickly eased Belle's fears. He was perfectly fine, just itchy and shedding some scales. He motioned that they should start following their humans. He retold the stories of the pokemon he had faced, of the new additions to the team. He was pretty upset Mya couldn't carry him anymore but, it was what it was.

"Piiika." The Pikachu tilted his head back, before nodding with approval and pushing his shades back up his face. This human seemed chill. Their Pokemon seemed chill also. Nice. They could have some fun with these folks - but as long as they wore these new sweet specs, they were pika-chill.
Arris froze with a look of concern as Mya grabbed his hand, not daring to move a muscle. He was ready for the punch. Totally. He had it coming, it was fine, and totally, completely called for. It was all okay... and then Mya didn't punch him? He found himself actually somewhat surprised, simply fiddling with the bloody cloth as he watched her start walking down the street. "Yeah, I thought something awful was going on for them to go tearing screaming out past me like that, so I came running to help whoever was in trouble. Figures, though. As badass as you are, you don't need my help." He chuckled and shook his head, before following after. He didn't worry about Belle - sure enough, she was following next to Eon like an excitable child, chatting away with the Bagon.
Belle mumbled in relief and butted her face against Eon, before bounding along next to him following their two trainers. She nodded and listened enthusiastically about the new additions to the team and the battles Eon was in. As he talked, she used her leaves to gently brush away some of the scales and clean up her friend. He was so strong and awesome, Belle said! Like, an actual hero! It was absolutely amazing - she'd been in battles too but it certainly wasn't as exciting. But she could defend herself now. She talked about how there was no attacks to actually be said, and fighting Pokemon was a struggle... but now she could hold her own, which was great! Stronger and twirlier by the day. She demonstrated with a little pirouette in the air.
Pepper was watching the two curiously, and decided the conversation wasn't for him - so he rubbed his cheek against Arris' head and made himself more comfortable on the trainer's shoulder. Arris' hair started sticking up like a static balloon where the Pikachu touched him - not that he noticed. "Good on you showing those asshats what-for. I hate people like that who take advantage of the generally good folks... they're like -" he gestured with his hand as if to indicate a large number, "The vocal minority isn't right. They're like those idiots who are few and far between but make everyone look bad, y'know? But uh - anyway, you caught some new Pokemon huh? That's awesome! And sounds like a gnarly fun adventure with your friend. The Maw's dangerous, innit? That's really neat!" He snorted. "Hey, I'm a dumbass too. I gotta advocate for your Wooper. Dumbass solidarity."
Arris fell quiet for a moment, continuing to fidget with the cloth he was still holding as they walked, fraying the fringe of the cloth. The fact that Mya said those injuries weren't new or anything, or just... usual... He felt a well of anxiety build up in his chest, multiplied by simple genuine concern for Mya's health. Arris knew what it meant to get in fights, to be an idiot hothead and get injured. But Mya? Mya wasn't stupid like him. "Also - that's... I don't mean offense..." Arris raised his hand as if to set it on Mya's shoulder, before letting it fall back limply to his side a moment later without making contact, biting down a concerned sigh. "...You're really tough. Like, strongest person I know tough, right? So like, I have no doubts you take care of yourself and know what you're doing just fine. But... that makes me a bit worried. That you're getting into fights all the time. Are... are you doing okay?" His brow creased, looking for a long moment at the back of Mya's head, before dropping his gaze to the road in front of him. "I know first aid, because of all my own disasters. If you want me to help - not... that you need it at all, of course."

Mya frowned as she listened to Arris talk. Oh.. she didn't intend to worry him or make him feel bad. That was the opposite of it. Glancing around, she knew some of the folks here saw Arris' worry for her. But a quick glare towards them set the record straight: Arris was a friend and was off limits for any sort of shenanigans.
Mya's jaw set firm and she sighed. "You aren't a dumbass," she said fairly sternly before shaking her head. "Look... you didn't insult me. I appreciate the gesture it's just... I have a reputation I need to uphold. Some of these people would see something like that as weakness and that'd make things worse for a lot of people. I gotta..." she took a breath. Well, Arris would find out where she was from one day. "I gotta protect my turf, you know? The people around here depend on me to keep some sort of law and order. We don't really have any sort of enforcement, so, it's up to people like me to protect the place."
She smiled a bit and raised her own hand to clasp it around Arris' shoulder and pulling him a bit closer. "But I'm fine, dude. That means a lot to me, too. But this is all normal junk. Besides, keeping the streets clean just got easier with Eon, ta know? He's watching my back!" She gave Arris a small squeeze before letting go. Mya knew first aid as well and was very proficient in cleaning up her own wounds but... maybe it would help if Arris had something to do that felt productive. "Yeah, I could use some help, actually. I never end up bandaging myself right or I miss a spot."
Eon gave appreciative chirps as more itchy scales fell away, and a slight blush game to his blue scales as Belle praised him. Oh, really, he wasn't that great. Just doing his job protecting his trainer! But he listened intently as Belle spoke of her own stories and tales. He was so happy to hear that she was getting stronger! He clapped when she gave a pirouette and commented on how, one day, she was going to evolve and it would be beautiful. He couldn't wait to see her gain in her strength. He believed in her!

"A... reputation?" Mya needed a reputation? Arris genuinely looked confused. He had a reputation in Port Belleview for being an arrogant hothead, but why would Mya want someone to see her like that? His brows creased a bit more. Weakness...? Asking for help? Was that what she meant? Arris understood that even less. Maybe it was because he was as antiquated as his family and had grown up helping others, but he'd never gotten why people thought relying on others was seen as weak. The other dockworkers were like that too - it ended in him being called some... particularly unsavory things, which was why he was known as a hothead - and well, in that line of thought it made sense but Arris still wasn't sure why it was seen as bad in the first place. And besides. She didn't need a reputation, in Arris' eyes - anyone who met her could see just how awesome she was!
But if it meant something important to Mya, then that was all that mattered. He wouldn't belittle that in the least. The second bit of information finally clicked in his head. Oh. Ohhhh. So Mya was from Famine? That made the Port Belleview analog in his head make a lot more sense. Though Arris didn't uphold any sort of law, so maybe not? He nodded though nonetheless. "Ah, no, I see - I gotcha. Like the renegade angel with the dragon, yeah? I didn't realize - I'll uh. Yeah. I respect that. It's important to you, so." Try not to be the idiot that continued stepping on toes, perhaps, Arris? he thought to himself.
He had to bend a bit to get on Mya's level as she grabbed him by the shoulder, a bit surprised. Pepper abandoned ship over to Mya's side, deciding to investigate this friend of his trainer's as they interacted. Besides, if Arris was gonna keep being all wiggly, he wanted none of it. The Pikachu gave a cool glare off at anyone watching. What you lookin' at punk? Huh!? Got a problem? Didn't think so.
Arris nodded as Mya kept talking, listening attentively. "Yeah, of course. As long as you're alright. The two of you can take on anything - really. I don't doubt that at all." He flushed, looking away and rubbing the back of his neck as she let him go, pretending to take a look at their surroundings casually until he'd bitten down the embarrassment. "I uh... I'm sorry for not realizing, though. Or, y'know." He looked back after a minute. "Of course! Happy to be of assistance. I've run myself through, broken bones, gotten in so many mishaps that I should've gotten a job as an EMT or first response instead of working with ships." He snorted. Arceus, wasn't that the truth.
"And also..." Arris grinned at Mya, posing with a hand over his heart as they walked, winking sassily. "I take pride in my dumbassery, thank you much. It's allll part of the charm."
Was Belle swooning? Belle thought she was swooning. What did that even mean? Her little fruity heart felt very light at Eon's compliments though, and she hid her face under her leaves, making a little embarrassed noise and hiding a blush. (Could berries blush? She felt like her cheeks were particularly hydrated. Was that close?) She hoped it was beautiful! And she was excited to show Eon when it happened! And she believed in him too - which was why she bapped him very gently with a leaf a moment later. What was Eon talking about!? Of course he was that great! Even if it was his job, that didn't mean he wasn't totally strong. Belle wasn't having any of that at all.

She blew a raspberry. Mya wasn't sure about angel, but... she always saw herself as more of a protector in the shadows sort. Even when she was young she was a little ball of fire that didn't take shit from no one. Although she was still poor, she had grown up better off than most. They managed to have food and electricity almost every month. It wasn't much but it was something. And that elevated status in Famine meant she had to protect everyone else. She wasn't afraid to throw punches if she saw injustice. After all... that was how she got Eon. She rescued his pokeball back before it was even safe to take pokemon out. That just cemented the aspect of protection. But being away for so long seemed to give some folks an idea that they could start cutting the fool. But that thought was soon out of her head as she chuckled and glanced at Pepper. "Hey, funky boy. I really like this pikachu, man, he's got a good attitude." Mya held open the door to the cafe once they arrived. "Don't sweat it, man. Now, come on, let's chat over coffee. I wanna formally introduce you to my pokemon in a bit." She looked in and gave a way at the elderly couple that ran the place. They just smiled back and started making her usual. It was watery and... not that good, but it was one of the best places in Famine. Sometimes it was all someone could ask for.
Eon gave a chuckle at Belle's light hits against him. She was fun. He liked it when they got to hang out with each other. He came to a stop by the open door and motioned for her to go on in before him. Eon hadn't lost his manners at all, if anything, he was starting to take notes from Mya. He had grown up a lot... in just a few weeks from when he first met Mya. It had been, what? Almost a month now? Time flies.

At Mya's raspberry, Arris burst into laughter - restrained, quiet snickering, yes, but laughter nonetheless. Yeah, he knew he was totally full of shit - but Mya didn't seem to mind his ridiculousness, which was nice. Being himself - entirely himself - was somewhat rare. Getting to let down his guard at all felt good; he supposed he probably shouldn't, though... not with Mya talking about turfs and reputations and enforcing order. It seemed if anything, maybe his guard should be higher than ever. That... was a little sobering to think about.
"Yeah he's sure an absolute card," Arris nodded towards Pepper. "When we caught him - Belle and I - it was... less of a battle and more of a hyper-energy dance off." He snorted. Pepper looked quite pleased at the attention, and twitched his ears at Mya in appreciation. "Piiiiii." There was a little nod of solidarity. Yeah, good attitude. That was him alright. The funky-mon incarnate.
Arris nodded as he entered the cafe, offering a wave of greeting towards the older folks as well. Surprisingly, it felt almost like walking in to an old friend's home to him. Or well... not a friend of his, but of his family's. Warm, friendly, older... He shook himself out of memory and turned to hold the door open for Mya in return. "I absolutely want to meet this new team of yours. Did they come from the Maw? Must be tough guys like Eon, eh?" He gestured with his free hand at Mya's wounds, though, expression sombering a bit. "That, however... really ought to be taken care of before anything, yeah?"
Belle enjoyed it when they got to hang out too! Nobody was sweeter or more fun than Eon. Pepper was... well, he was okay - but he could be a smarmy little imp, and Belle was all about wholesomeness. And Louis was encouraging, yeah! But he liked sleep more than anything, and when Belle had energy she had energy. And in her mind, Eon was as wholesome as they came, anyway. See? He was proving it right now. How polite! She bowed to the Bagon with a sweet little titter of thanks, skipping in the door, her mood lightened significantly.

Mya shrugged. "Yeah, let's take care of these wounds first." She walked into the cafe and took her usual seat by the window in a back corner. She yawned, already exhausted from the fight earlier, but eh. Coffee would fix her up. She glanced at her knuckles again, frowning. Wow, she really had gone to town on those assholes, didn't she?"Actually," she said after a moment, "one of them is a badass like Eon, I think? She liked fighting him, and she likes to eat dirt? The wooper is.... you know, a wooper. And the other is a little cutie that loves belly rubs and attention. I like him a lot." She smiled when her cup of coffee was brought to her, along with a bowl of clean-ish water (the best Famine could do) and a clean cloth. "Also, order whatever you like, I can cover it this time." She started to carefully clean her knuckles. Eon smiled at Belle and soon walked in after her, taking a seat by Mya but offering a place in the sunlight for Belle. The floor wasn't... the cleanest but, hey, it was home more or less. Eon got used to the dust and grime of the city pretty quick. Somethings you just couldn't control. He explained to Belle what living in Famine was like, about Mya's home. There was some financial stress there, but that they were making it work and still mostly traveling, but they always found time to come back and clean up the streets and volunteer at the soup kitchens. Mya explained that they were helping people by doing it, and he felt happy about that, but it was also exhausting. He also asked if she and Arris had been up to anything fun, other than meeting new pokemon, of course.

"Mmhm." Arris followed over to the table, taking residence in the last free chair. He listened to what Mya was saying as he pulled his bag up into his lap and dug around for the first aid kit inside it. He finally found it and set it on the counter as Mya's coffee and the water was brought over. He nodded at Mya, before smiling politely at the person. "Could I get the same thing, please? The uh-- well, the coffee, of course, not the water," he chuckled. Wasn't anything he needed with a cloth and water to clean his wounds with. Afterall, he didn't have any wounds. Currently, at least. "Thank you very much."
As he pulled out some antibacterial ointment from the kit, waiting patiently for Mya to clean herself up, he responded. "That's awesome! Loves to eat dirt, huh? Ground type, then? Rock? Hmm... Hah - yes, the Wooper that is my spirit animal." He snickered and shook his head. "Aw, that third one sounds like an absolute sweetheart! Cuddly ones are always great. I'd say Pepper's a belly-rub kinda fella, but he always bites my fingers when I try. Louis - he's this like... Slakoth, I caught - doesn't seem to mind. But I'm not sure if it's just he doesn't mind or he's too slow to actually do anything about it... " Either one was possible, really. It was... hard to tell anything with the Slakoth, through no part of the Pokemon's own fault. Pepper looked smug at being called out for his nipping, ears pointed back a bit. It wasn't that he minded the belly rubs, they just generated so much static electricity and then he had to groom and it was a whole thing. He huffed at his trainer from Mya's shoulder, before finally hopping off to take a seat in Arris' lap. Arris patted him on the head, his eyes still on Mya. "And thank you too, by the by."
Belle settled down happily in the sunlight, relaxing and letting her leaves curl upwards towards the light. The tip of the leaf with the notch cut out of it swirled back and forth contentedly. She cooed out a pleased little thank you. Hmm... Famine sounded like it was worth it - like... what was a phrase Arris said... 'if something was worth it, it wasn't ever easy' or something. Like even if it was stressful, helping people was good, right? Sounded very tiring! And things they'd done? Well - they'd bought some pretty neat masks when Arris had returned to their home recently! She had fond memories of the oversized Ludicolo mask and how it took up nearly her whole body. It looked neat as all heck, though! And then Arris had fallen out of another tree recently... he'd been climbing after - was it Pepper? Yeah, it seemed like a Pepper problem - and a branch broke. Belle giggled good-naturedly - it seemed like her and Arris' lives were so boring in comparison!

As the waiter went to go make the coffee and bring it over to Arris, Mya surrendered her hands to him now that they had been carefully dabbed clean. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as it originally looked. Mostly just broken skin and some bruises. There had been worse wounds before."A slakoth, huh? Never heard of em." Then again, she didn't really hear about a lot of pokemon. "Sounds fun, though, I like Pepper and Belle pretty well. I'm sure I'll like the third one." There were some pokemon she had that she didn't really want but had no idea what to do with. That chikorita was one... maybe Arris would trade with her one day but for the time being she just wanted to focus on other stuff. "Aw, yeah, it's fine. So, how did you end up wandering around the backstreets anyway? Get lost or something?" Famine was... not a place you wanted to get lost in. The shacks that had been haphazardly put up over old rubble of former homes where not the most organized. Even an air view of Famine would reveal it was unorganized to hell and back. Ya had to watch your back here and know the streets well. Eon nodded as he listened. That all sounded rather fun and exciting! Although, he was slightly concerned. What had caused that injury on Belle's leaf? The only change he had was being really itchy, but had something bad happened? She seemed fine if something did. He was thankful for that.

Arris listened to Mya quietly for a moment as he took ahold of her hands. He hummed nonsensically in response. His eyes were narrowed in focus, careful and trying to be precise and delicate as he rubbed the ointment into the broken skin... he was glad that on further inspection it wasn't so bad, but it was still nerve wracking to see so much blood on a friend at all. If he didn't think he'd just get uselessly lost again, the boy had half a mind to go out searching for those rattata-backed vagrants and tear into them again just for it. He finally responded properly as he was finishing placing gauze and wrapping the injuries. "Sorry, focused. Let me know if that's too restricting? Um!"
"Slakoth is like... oh, I know." He pulled his old phone out of the breast-pocket of his vest once he was finished with the bandaging and had let go, pulling up his photo gallery to a photo he'd taken a day or two ago: it seemed to be taken at a campsite. Louis the Slakoth was up in a branch over Arris' patchwork tent, hanging from it like a living hammock. Belle was nestled snugly against his stomach, looking quite pleased with herself at her high-up perch. "This is him here. I know I just called him slow, but I still don't know how he got up there. Looked away for I swear only a second and bam. Total witchcraft, I'm telling you."
Laughing in embarrassment, Arris found his cheeks pink again as he scratched the back of his neck. "Yyyyeahh, it's completely mortifying to admit verbally, but I didn't know where the hell I was. I think I was originally on one of the main roads, and then I'm not really sure where we went wrong? Sure glad I ran into you though. Arceus knows I would've been out there all day and evening otherwise. Anyway, I wanna hear about this dirt-eater and belly rubbing cutie of yours! How'd that all come about?" And that, admittedly, was even more embarrassing. Arris the great and upcoming hotshot trainer who could do no wrong unable to follow a simple road to the Pokemon Center? Being a total klutz with directions? Oof.
Ohhhhh, that. Belle's eyes shifted up towards the messy leaf with a little tiny sigh. It wasn't Arris' fault, really. He was so new to this, and Belle was too! He didn't know. It was their first Pokemon battle together. She was stronger now, and could fight! But when the two started, she was too eager to play and live outside of a dusty lab-room and had no offensive way of defending herself. Arris didn't realize, and the two had picked a battle with this Torchic... who was very intent on eating Belle (how awful)! The two were totally out of sync, and well... She waved the leaf and looked at its notch. It didn't hurt at all now - it was more superficial than anything, and things were all okay! But if anything you'd think Arris had taken the damage instead. Most memories after the battle were pretty hazy, but her trainer was really sad and really protective of Belle for a long time after. It pretty much took up until Pepper's capture to perk him up at all. A little wilted flower, her human boy was.

By the time Arris had finished, his drink had arrived. Mya flexed her hands a bit and nodded in approval. "Yeah, not bad. Pretty good work, dude." She took a sip of her coffee. She had gotten used to the taste by now that her nose didn't even curl. It... really was the best coffee anyone could get in Famine, which was saying something. She leaned closer to look at the picture. "Aw, he's adorable! I really like him. And maybe he moves fast when he wants to? Like, maybe he's trying to trick you acting like he's super slow moving?" It was a thought. Mya still knew nothing about pokemon but she was starting to get better at it.
Although, she did snort a bit. "Famine's easy to get lost in so I don't really blame you." Besides, there wasn't even really a pokemon center, not like other cities. There was one but it was more of a little tent that was pitched up. The old building from 80 years ago had become a major squatter hang out. Mya went there sometimes when things weren't looking good for the family, but they had managed to pay their rent. Not in a small part due to some battles Mya had won some cash with. But at the mention of her new pokemon, she smiled and took out their pokeballs. She released them, both appearing on the floor. Eon gave a happy call over to them and a wave. Járnsaxa smiled and waved back, a little blush on her cheeks. But who was this plant? A rival? Or a friend? Járnsaxa gave a wave to Belle as well. Fuji, on the other hand, looked at Eon and Belle and gave a small hello before walking up to Mya and holding up his arms, yelling at her to be lifted up. Mya did so and cradled him in her arms, giving him gentle back scritches.
"This is Fuji, he's a cyndaquil. He was pretty angry after I caught him but now he just loves attention. And that's Járnsaxa! She's a uh.... Larvitar? She likes to eat dirt. Apparently she uses it to grow strong, something about minerals in the soil? She really likes sparring with Eon." She smiled at Arris, clearly glowing with her new team. "I, um... I met this pretty cool person that talked about gyms and the pokemon league and stuff, so I was thinking about opening one here in Famine. I think it'll be dragon based so Eon and Járnsaxa are going to be on that team. I just need a third one now. Fuji here's mostly just for cuddles." Fuji had no issues with that, stretching out in Mya's arms and letting out a content sigh. Eon, however, was deep in Belle's story and frowned. Oh... well, he felt bad about that, but knew she was stronger now! He nodded in agreement that she was powerful and could handle herself, but he still wanted to offer some form of help. If she ever needed him, he'd be happy to help. Besides, there was nothing wrong with getting help when you needed it! Mya worked hard to teach him that, although he had been struggling with that lesson recently.
