"They didn't know why these things were funny. Sometimes you laugh because you've got no more room for crying. Sometimes you laugh because table manners on a beach are funny. And sometimes you laugh because you're alive, when you really shouldn't be." -Terry Pratchett This, the Song of Sons and Daughters
Action: Mya apologizes to the dratini for Wormy's behavior.
Items: 0/3
She may not understand pokemon, but Mya could understand some things. She laughed at the new dratini's look and Wormy's expressions in response. "You aren't good with the ladies, are you, Wormy?" she asked, the dratini giving his trainer a nasty look. Mya just smirked. "Whatcha going to do about it? Nothing, that's what."
Wormy knew he had no pull over Mya, even though he was a pokemon. A simple recall was all it would take to put him back away in his ball and Mya would be fine wandering the caves herself. He huffed and turned his head at her, knowing she was just edging him on, so instead, he looked back to this miss-pris.
Oh, and yet she was so much better for living in some dank cave? The hypocrisy of her statement was enough for him to know what her scales were made of. The elegance of her species was lost by her nasty attitude. He was half tempted to teach her a lesson, but a quick click of the tongue from Mya told him if he did, there would be extreme consequences.
"Wormy, don't make me remind you of the rules. If this nice lady wants to beat the crap out of you, you have to let her. Might do you some good." She looked at the other dratini. "Sorry for him, been trying to teach him manners. It's a work in progress... and it's taking a lot of progress... and a lot of work."
Wormy huffed at Mya, now turning his attention to her. He rose up, trying to show off his size. Mya just watched, a bored expression on her face. "Whatcha going to do, beat me up? Oh, I'm soo scared." She rolled her eyes. He deflated. Mya called his bluff. Ugh, this was so embarrassing!
Maybe if Mya could understand what this other, actual worm called her she'd be more reactive to the defense... then again, Wormy knew Mya embraced insults and let them roll off of her like water. He was not the same. He grumbled. If Atlas or Eon or even that horrid rock Járnsaxa was here they'd just walk away and shrug off this horrible creature's behavior... ugh.Strong, United, Working Til' We Fall

Unfortunately, Dratini took offense at Mya's laugh, hissing a little and pulling back. How dare this human, with her unimpressive companion, laugh at her? Mya's apology, issued on behalf of her Pokemon, didn't mollify her at all. Obviously such a rude human could not teach her even ruder worm any manners. When Wormy tried to stand up to Mya, though -- well, that pleased and amused the Dratini a little. She snickered to see Wormy deflate after Mya disregarded his threat display. Although she was also a bit irked to see a human triumph over one of her own kind, however pathetic that one might be. Wormy was really letting down their whole species, wasn't he?

Action: Wormy knocks a ball from Mya's bag and it hits the Dratini! (Capture attempt)
Items: 0/3
That. Was. It.
Wormy could handle himself being insulted (or... not really...), but he didn't expect any rude looks at his trainer to cause his scales to start to itch but here he was. He was enraged. He was going to strangle this blue little demon if it was the last thing he ever did! No one got to insult Mya unless they were him! He lunged for the dratini, but he felt his tail being caught and pulled back, his pool noddle body being held by Mya who was not having any of this.
"Hey, if I wanted to beat the crap out of her, I would have brought Eon," Mya hissed at him, "besides, you know the rules! Do not make me put you back in your pokeball!"
Pokeball! That was it! If anything would get this rude creature to leave and avoid ever knowing the pleasures of human company, a failed capture attempt was it!
Wormy started to struggle against Mya, wrapping his tail around one of those strange balls she had been given in her bag before throwing it at the enemy. Take that, ya rude compost worm! ...thought the dratini named Wormy McWormington.
Mya sighed as she saw what he was doing and glared at him. "You know, we could have just disengaged," she said. Wormy huffed and went ahead and wrapped himself around her like a large, heavy scarf. Maybe so! But he had his pride and he wouldn't let such a horrific cretin speak bad of his trainer!
Now he just had to wait for the rude dratini to escape and flee. The perfect crime.Strong, United, Working Til' We Fall

Oh, Wormy wanted her to go away? Fat chance. When the Pokeball hit Dratini, she immediately submitted to it; the ball fell still and clicked with barely a shake. Inside it, Dratini grinned. She had found new purpose in tormenting these two strangers, and fully intended to keep it up. Maybe she could, with a great deal of effort, make them shape up -- or maybe she could just make their lives unpleasant. Either way, she was happy to just spite Wormy right now. Was momentary spite perhaps an unwise way to decide the course of the rest of her life? Probably. But nobody said this Dratini was smart, just snobbish. So she'd just laugh her way into Mya's pocket and beyond.

Mya's sharp bark of laughter stabbed Wormy in the heart. Mother f-
"Nice going, Wormy. Now you gotta put up with her even longer." Mya picked up the safari ball. "She's quite a prima donna, worse than you. But we'll get her acting right. One way or another. I'm not making anyone else deal with such a slimy demon. Not until she learns to behave."
Learning to behave... Wormy still has those lessons. If he tries to fight with Jarnsaxa during dinner, Mya takes away his food for an hour. Each time he acts up again, it's another hour. Was it cruel? To Wormy, yes, but it was effective. He wondered what other methods Mya had for getting unruly dragons to behave, but so far, nothing seemed to phase her. Mya seemed to understand that, at the end of the day, pokemon and humans were different. One wouldn't "train" a person the same way they did a pokemon. A pokemon could kill her with a single glance, she seemed to know this. But Mya had an air about her that said that she was just as dangerous as any of her pokemon were. That was, of course, not true. Mya was a human, but Wormy didn't want to end up in a fight against her regardless. He'd win, but it'd hurt to get there.
He wrapped himself tighter around her, as if in comfort. She raised a hand and gave his head a bit of a pat, seemingly misunderstanding his concerns. "Don't worry, I won't let her bully you or anyone else. Jarnsaxa seems to enjoy your constant misbehavior towards her. It's a game now. But this one won't be able to act up for long, not when Eon finds out how she has already acted."
Wormy slumped. Ugh. If only he was allowed to fight here, he would have decimated that little stuck up-
"Cheer up, Wormy," Mya said. "Maybe we'll find some nicer pokemon, hm?"
He huffed. Unlikely.Strong, United, Working Til' We Fall

Wormy and Mya continued through the Lair, in various states of amusement or annoyance, and barely even noticed a light following them, or rather a pair of lights: flames lit deep within the eyes of a sinister form, stalking its prey, following their every move. Dogging their footsteps. Finally they turned down what Houndour knew to be a dead end, and the predatory Pokemon made its move, leaping out of the shadows with a ferocious growl, wreathed in flames. There was no escape, and it wouldn't let either the Dratini or the human get past it; Mya and Wormy were trapped.

Action: Mya talks to the doggo!
Items: 0/3
Wormy reacted first, uncoiling himself from Mya and rising up to his full six feet of dragon and letting out a fierce cry, ready to defend his human--rules or not. Mya, however, just raised an eyebrow and stepped around Wormy, leaving the dratini confused and, quite honestly, stressed. What was with this place!?
Mya tilted her head. She had seen one of these before. Farrah had one. A sweet pup. This one looked tough, angry, a survivor.
"Aren't you tough?" she asked, giving him a look. Was she scared? Nope. Should she be? Probably. But a lot of folks forgot what it was like growing up in the city everyone else forgot. When the cops are corrupt and lazy you had to settle things for yourself. Besides, this pup was about the size of a football. Therefore: puntable. "Nice going stalking us until this dead end, but let me ask, how do you know I don't have more pokemon on me? A four versus one, and yes, I am counting myself."
She put her hands on her hips, her jacket moving to show off the burn scars Wormy had given her ages ago. "You should have attacked us before we ever saw you. Never give your prey a chance to fight back."
Wormy slithered around her again, more protectively. Mya had a way to start fights. And if Wormy had learned anything about this place, it was that not a single pokemon--except that sandile--was nice. They were volatile, rude, aggressive--even worse than him! Even kind actions got you being attacked. He was not going to let this dog harm his trainer. He'd rather strangle the thing.Strong, United, Working Til' We Fall

The Houndour snarled at Wormy, ready for a fight -- and then blinked as Mya stepped in front of her Pokemon. OK, did not expect that, but still, same thing -- And then Mya started talking. Houndour paused, tilting its head, as it assessed Mya's words. The truth was, it hadn't realized that Mya might have more Pokemon with her -- here in the depths of the lair, Houndour wasn't aware of the whole "Pokemon trainer" concept, and didn't understand that trainers could carry unseen Pokemon in their Pokeballs. Four on one? Oh, that didn't sound great. Mya was right -- it should have just attacked before they'd spotted it. The truth was, Houndour just liked a little theatrics sometimes; its family had always told it that would be its downfall. Sighing, Houndour admitted defeat with a "Houn." It felt a little chagrined to have Mya point out the flaws in its strategy ... but it also appreciated her matter-of-fact tone and frank way she confronted the situation. This human was no shrinking violet, but the kind of tough individual that Houndour could really get behind.

Mya moved around Wormy again, motioning to him that there was no danger here. She could handle a puppy. She knelt down a little ways away from the pup, respecting his independence and his personal space. "My name is Mya, but folks call me rainbow because when I hit, they see every color of the rainbow. I primarily focus on dragon types, but you have some spunk. I can respect that." She took out an ultra ball and held it out.
"If you want, you are free to travel with us. I can help teach you how to hone your hunting. Of course, you probably have family here, a life. You don't have to join us. The wild is a fine place to live, too." She gave a bit of a smile. "Your choice. We don't force anyone to travel with us. It has to be your decision. No matter what it is, we'll respect it and wish you the best."

Rainbow seemed like a silly nickname at first, but as Mya explained, the Houndour was impressed. Still, it turned up its nose at the Pokeball immediately. As much as it liked Mya, she was right -- it had a family here, a pack, and it couldn't just leave them, any more than Mya could have left all her Pokemon behind. You didn't just leave your pack. Its family needed it to hunt beside them. Still, Mya had earned Houndour's respect, so it stepped politely out of the way to let her and Wormy continue out of the dead end. No fighting here, just recognition passing from one fighter to another.

She nodded in respect at the dog's choice. He had loyalty and drive. She was sure one day he would lead his very own pack. She stood up and motioned for Wormy to follow her. They were going to go a bit deeper before turning around and leaving. She was starting to get a bit tired, after all. Maybe they could camp here, but with no other intention than to camp in such a place. It was still so weird this was all indoors...
They kept moving, Wormy slithering behind her, a bit more careful to watch their backs now. He was worried something bigger and stronger might sneak up on them. That just would not do, they had to make sure they had some new level of caution, after all.Strong, United, Working Til' We Fall

It was a good thing Wormy kept a lookout, because the wild Skarmory who crossed paths with him and Mya certainly wasn't doing so. It careened down a tunnel perpendicular to Mya's, happening to -- literally -- run into the two of them at an intersection. Spotting them too late, it tried to stop short, digging its claws into the tunnel floor, and almost managed, but at the price of falling on its face. Embarrassing. After a sheepish moment, it dragged itself upright, looking at Mya and Wormy with its head tilted. Who were these creatures, and why were they in its way?

The first thing that came to her mind was an ow. She slowly lifted herself up, popping her back and then standing and doing the same with her neck. She turned to look at the steel bird, glancing at Wormy. He seemed fine, shaking himself off before coiling around her. She put her hands on her hips and eyed this bird. It didn't seemed like he had meant to run them over with a body made of cast iron steel. She sniffed and smelled iron, wiping the blood away with the back of her hand. Ugh. She'll deal with it later.
"Aren't you fast?" She said, tilting her head as well. "Sorry about that, we didn't mean to get in your way. Are you alright?" Of course the bird made of iron was going to be alright but it was still polite to ask. Mya could recognize sharp feathers when she saw them. Like knives.Strong, United, Working Til' We Fall

Skarmory chittered in distress as it noticed the blood on Mya's face. Oh no! Humans must be more fragile than it had thought -- it had broken this one, caused her to leak. That couldn't be good. Why was she apologizing to it, as polite as that might be, when it had created such a problem? It should be the one apologizing, and it did with a worried "Skar mor!"Then it circled Mya and Wormy a bit, trying to figure out how badly hurt Mya was -- how much it ought to panic. Right now the needle was dipping towards "panic a lot." This Skarmory could be a bit ... high-strung.

Action: Mya tries to comfort the Skarmory!
Items: 0/3
She blinked and looked to Wormy. He gave the best shrug a worm could. It seemed this metal bird was worried about having caused... damage? Mya looked at the blood on her wrist and sniffed before something clicked. "Oh! No, it's alright, I'm fine," she said. "No more damage! It happens all the time. It'll take a lot more than this to keep me down." She gave a smile, trying her best to try and... comfort? The wild pokemon?
She wasn't used to this sort of reaction to damage. Sure, some members of her team worried if she got hurt but they knew Mya well. They knew she could bounce back from a lot of stuff before real damage actually hit her. That was one reason why she was able to break up fighting dragons on the worst of days, ignoring slashes to her arms and legs and headbutts to her stomach. She was one tough customer.
Wormy frowned a bit, watching the skarmory. He felt... well, out-paced about worrying about his own trainer? A wild pokemon seemed to care more than him! But he couldn't show concern now it would just be faked. Ugh, this place was messing with his brain too much.Strong, United, Working Til' We Fall
