@posie || Morning
It was a busy day, but when weren't they? And to make matters worse, Crowley decided to stick with Takara. Or, stick with wasn't quite the term they would use. More like... cling to Takara's leg and refuse to let go. The little pink demon was loving the day out. The board had been told off, leaving plenty of negative anger residue throughout the halls. Plus, Shri and Vesuvius were already fed up with Crowley and that just fed him more. Still, the little demon was intent on sticking around for a full day of work. Takara had already gotten used to the extra weight and was walking with a usual brisk pace down the steps and to the front lobby.
Ugh, they were late! How could they be so late? Shri and Vesuvius followed sharply behind, if only to ensure Crowley didn't try anything other than be a general annoyance. The horse and dog knew that there was an important meeting Takara had been looking forward to for a while. It wasn't every day someone in the new, strange post-return of the pokemon knew anything about plants.
Takara entered the main hall, the waiting place for all those waiting for a meeting, and extended a hand with a bright smile. "Hello! I am so sorry for the wait, I'm Dr. Wilton. You must be Ms Posie. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
They looked to the riolu and mudbray. "This is Shri and Vesuvius, and the Impidimp on my leg is Crowley."

Takara Wilton | Morning | Sylvanport
This was not the farm anymore. Sure, Posie and her family would go out to Sylvanport from time to time for the big festivals that happened, but they'd always return to the starlit night of the property bearing its tilled soil and humble home built generations ago. Now here she was sitting on a very clean corporate lobby in a new looking cushioned bench. Nothing felt truly natural here, and it made both her and her pokemon very antsy. The people walking by in suits like the one her dad would pull out from the closet so very rarely had places to go, people to see, and didn't truly make eye contact with one another. She was sitting here in her lab coat and the best looking set of clothes she could find when she received the invitation to a meeting with the CEO. She looked like she had rolled out of a barn, and her hair wasn't participating either no matter how much she tied the headband to keep the wild grass-like head of hair from doing what it wanted. She was a mess and her turtwig Pacha was gnawing at the legs of the chair trying to see if he could eat it.
Then came a person with a long ponytail, and a curious looking thing clinging onto their leg...almost relishing the inconvenience it was causing. Posie stood up straight in an instant stiff as a board and pushed up her full moon glasses, holding Pacha back from further ruining the furniture with her foot.
"Oh! You must be Mr. Wilton, Posie Labranth pleased to meet you I understand you were seeking out a Botanist in the area and although my papers aren't fully published I am grateful to recieve recognition from the CEO behind such projects in the region as the recent Safari Zone-" She didn't pause for a moment. The words she had rehearsed all day came tumbling out all while her drifloon Wander floated near Takara to give them a quick look. Cleanliness was important after all!

Takara smiled, more than happy to listen. This was one of the main experts in plants left, so if they wanted to talk so be it. Besides, Posie was already a welcome break from what Takara usually dealt with day in and day out. They gave a nod at the drifloon, more than happy that Posie brought some of her pokemon. It was always nice to have company.
"Please," Takara chuckled after a moment, "Takara is fine. I only use formalities for introductions. Besides, I'm just pleased you answered our call. From what our scouts saw of your research, you have some of the best ideas out there. I was hoping we could get your expert opinion." They motioned for Posie to follow them, moving deeper into the facility and to one of the elevators. They stood to the side for Posie to get on first, with her pokemon.
"I'm happy you approve of the Safari Zone! It was one of my more personal projects. I hope the plant life in the area met your approval? We tried our best to be as accurate as possible for the comfort of the pokemon. The goal being they don't even know they are inside." Takara hit the button to go down and scanned their building card.
Shri gave Posie's team a once over, as if trying to gauge their potential danger to Takara, and marked it as not much. This person seemed very mild-mannered and polite, so there was little reason to worry.
As the elevator went down, Takara continued. "Tell me, how likely do you think old-fashioned farms could be brought back? If they had the money and resources available to them?"

" Oh!"
Posie started to happily stim her arms up and down at the sight of the mudbray and crouched down to its level once inside the elevator. It was actually a massive relief on her mind to not have to act as formal as she thought she would have to. She brushed her dainty hands through the mudbray's hair as her phantump floated upwards to Takara, tilting her stump head and giving a curious brush through their hair.
"My sister has one!! It's since evolved into a Mudsdale who helps to till the soil. I was actually the one to inherit the property but, well I declined..." She felt a surge of emotions well up as she scratched behind the mudbray's ears, and then a concerned tug from Wander brought her back to reality in the elevator.
"Huh? Oh, sorry! I tend to dissociate a lot, anyways! Erm-yes the flora in the Safari Zone were lovely, though the most I explored so far was the Old Mansion. The wild pokemon there didn't seem to mind the clutter actually, they were making things of their own with it! Wander here is one of those pokemon from the Safari Zone and she was very happy with the area. She's enjoying herself out here in Sylvanport drifting on the winds with the bird pokemon, aren't you?"
Wander twirled and happily floated around the elevator space, then floating down to the impidimp to playfully lift him upwards.

Vesuvius happily took the attention, giving a happy little 'bray' in response to the pets. She, too, would one day be a Mudsdale and then she'd be able to help more around the office. For now, Takara only let her pull the mail cart. But that was alright! She loved the work, it was something to do everyday and something to look forward to when she clocked in with Takara.
Takara, however, just smiled at the Phantump that was showing quite a bit of interest in their ponytail. At least they weren't pulling like Crowley often did. "That is perfectly alright, Posie! I understand entirely. I'm very happy you approved! And got some new companions out of it! I'm glad to see the Safari Zone is working as intended." It took a lot of work to get it just right, a lot of land, a lot of fights with the board. The entrance fee for those wanting to capture pokemon was something Takara had to give up in the negotiations. They were more than happy to pay the staff out of their own pocket but the board wouldn't let everything go. But it was fine... Takara was ripped from their thoughts from a sudden, sharp pain in their leg. They clenched their teeth and took in a sharp breath.
"Crowley, please," they said, looking down. The impidimp was not enjoying the drifloon trying to lift him into the air. He screeched like a demon and clung to Takara's leg even tighter, ripping past the material of the suit. Takara sighed. "I am so sorry for him, he's... well, he's an odd one."
Shri sighed and flicked Crowley gently on the head and shook her head with a look of warning. She then looked to Wander and gave a polite bow in apology. Once the demon clung to something you could not get him to let go.

"Oh I'm so sorry for her, she tends to do that...a lot."
Posie stood back up and smiled at her ghostly companions while the elevator hummed away at their descent. Wander joyfully bounced around the walls in light amusement of her little game, and just like that she was calmly wrapped around Posie's hand letting herself drift away in the ambient air.
"Erm, well...as for your farm question. I do believe that given the necessary resources, traditional agriculture could return indeed return! The loss of pokemon have severely impacted farms across the region, including mine. So it would be safe to say that with Silph Co. help alongside the return of pokemon, crops could do even better than they have before!"
She had a warm, bright smile across her face that shone in the elevator. Though a concern set in at the back of her mind
"You ask, so that Silph Co. doesn't get their corporate hands into honest work right? You're different than the other suits I see around, and thats good."

"It was sad, like those businessmen who came to work in serious clothes but wore colorful ties in a mad, desperate attempt to show there was a free spirit in there somewhere." -Terry Pratchett, Making Money No, I Ain't Happy Yet
Takara nodded at the answer to the farms... as long as they could return with proper help and funding, then Deprin's people could enjoy good food again, food that only the rich and elite had been able to afford for 80 years. It was deplorable, seeing grapes and apples at office meetings knowing that no one else was able to enjoy such lavish foods. Not yet, anyway.
Takara did smile at the next question, however, but it was sad. Stressed. "I want to keep Salve Co.'s hands out of anything good, honest people do, to be honest with you. It's harder than you think with the greedy tyrants on the board wanting to squeeze as much money out of every as- well, anyway... my goal is to just give them funding and to help clean up the land. Once the farms get started, I want to set up a pool of funding for them so if they need something, like new equipment, Salve Co. can provide it for free." Takara sighed and then grumbled, "The hardest part will be getting the board to agree to that, but I've had worse fights. Letting people camp and walk around the Safari Zone for free was one of them."
Their smile returned fully when the elevator stopped and the doors opened. They walked out into a massive underground chamber with plant lights fixated above, adjustable sprinklers watering the plants on certain intervals. It was every kind of grow-able food imaginable. Strawberries, corn, wheat, bananas, potatoes, onions, pineapples, etc.
"This is the testing room. The seeds are all kept in a cold chamber that was made over 80 years ago when pokemon started to vanish. I wanted to see if the plants could still grow, but I need an expert opinion on the best way to bring back the farms and ensure the quality and safety of the crops. I don't want anyone getting sick from 80 year old seeds. Feel free to walk around, explore."

"I wish you luck in that endeavor, my dad used to always say corpos were no good scavengers..." Posie looked around the room in wonder at the flourishing growth in the room, nurtured by the best technology Takara could get approved for this project. She ran her hands through the leaves and imagined what could be the revitalization of agriculture in her home...but not yet. As they were, it was not natural. Their lives were extended for so long to preserve them for the future that they were no longer of a wild genotype. They were far from what they would be in the wild and it unsettled Posie a small bit in her stomach...she was so used to growing off the land itself that the thought of this level of agriculture was only a dream until this very moment. She paced around for a bit in thought as she watched her pokemon's reactions to the plants. Pacha munched on the fruit that he could reach, enjoying himself in the strawberry bushes and darting around to sample the plump fruit to the researcher's dismay.... A grin grew across Posie's face that her ghostly companions relished in. Belle knew exactly what her trainer wanted to do, and happily spun around and nestled herself into Posie's arms. Something she was trying to get her to do for so long and to break through to her. She simply couldn't wait! "They'll fight you on this. You know that. I mean, this level of production and yeild? They'll try to capitalize on it, so what if we throw a wrench into what they want."

They gave a nod. "Your father sounds like a very wise man, and he is very much correct. But I'd add they are worse than scavengers. They want to cling to and drain everything they can. It's sad," Takara said... as CEO of this company. The change for good had been... difficult. Hard. Stressful. Everyday they died a little more inside, but they had to fight, because who else had the power to?
Takara paced around, keeping an eye on Posie, not out of malice or suspicion, but in case Takara was needed for anything. They were here to answer questions, to spit-ball ideas about what to do. They just wanted to see people eat good food again... the lab-grown meats were already showing promise, but nothing compared to the old days. They needed more types of protein and vitamins found only in beans that had long since stopped being grown. Even the robotic bees Salve Co. had been working on were showing great promise, but they weren't perfect. They needed pokemon... the robotic bees were only in the event pokemon ever... well, that was a future Takara never wanted to think about.
They perked up when Posie spoke. "You're right. Already the board is drafting papers to make all the seeds infertile so farmers can only buy new seeds from us, something I plan to shoot down immediately. The farmers should be in full control of their crops and their land. But what wrench are you thinking of?" Sabotaging their own company? It was more likely than you think!

For the first time in her life, she was planning something devious. The quiet farmgirl who shoved herself into the role of quiet scientist was tired of staying in that role. She wanted to grow into something better, more, she wanted to bloom. Posie looked around and swiped a bright red apple from the orchards and took a sizeable bite from it, eating it to the core and pulling out a seed that she gave to her drifloon to hold onto in her puffy cloud.
She smiled, enough for Crowley to catch on in an epiphany and then a nasty plot.
"Ever heard of guerilla gardening? Maybe we give em to the people, why not let it run wild. Make it impossible for those pencil pushers to contain the chaos of nature. They can try to make "high quality" garbage but hows about we jumpstart the means of production for the people eh?" Belle - Lv 5 | Wander - Lv 1 | Pacha - Lv 1

Aah... devious. Takara smiled and nodded, Shri getting the emotions of deception and trickery from them. She sighed, but understood the purpose of such. She was not a fan of Salve Co. either. Strange that she worked there with Takara, but what could you do?
"I like it. Of course, we will still need large farmlands to produce enough food for people quickly... I've actually already purchased several acres from my own savings to give to farmers. We could give Salve Co.'s board the 'farms' they want--that I will still fight to belong to the farmers--and the massive production, but..." Takara a bit of a shrug and looked away at a very interesting wall. "If someone was to... come down here one day and take a bunch of the seeds and distributed them to the people to grow and allow an abundance of wild food for anyone to take then, well, that just can't be helped, can it?"
They smiled at Posie again. "I'll handle the corporate side of things and give the board what we've been planning, and in return for your help on getting those farms started, I'll let you take as many seeds as you deem fit for your guerilla warfare. By the time the plants run wild and people have the means of food production in their hands, it'll be too late for the board to make any arguments. I can play dumb all day long, too."
Ah, this was exciting. Finally! Someone that had ideas on how to stick it to Salve Co. and give back the power to the people! Again, ironic this was coming from the CEO of the company, but Takara had their reasons for fighting to take it over from the previous CEO. Going into tremendous debt for college and hardly being able to afford some week-old algae for dinner did things to you. That and watching your parents struggle to avoid the basic necessities. It was damn well overdue that the people got part of their lives back.
Takara sighed dreamily. "I can't wait to go to a local farmer's market... people growing their own food and wanting to share it with others. Pokemon helping people achieve their gardens... it's been too long since people were able to experience that sense of community without a greedy corporation dipping their hands in it at every turn."

"Wonderful. It was actually Belle's idea, that as she tended for the garden on the roodtops got me to loosen up and embrace nature! I uh...actually also came up with something else as well that I don't know if you'd be willing to send to your tailor..."
Posie nervously pulled out her field journal nestled inside her lab coat pocket, and among the pages of sketched pokemon from the Safari Zone were drawings of outfits she was clearly brainstorming at the time. Then in one page towards the back of the journal was a costume design; similar to a clown or a jester but green and white with leaves sprawled scross the fabric. The cap ended in two points that trailed off from the base and ended in seed-like bells, and it showed Posie happy. Happier than she had ever been and playing with pokemon.
"I-It just a thought! That ever since I was a child I wanted be be brave, outgoing, and perky like the women heroes on tv...thats how I discovered I was a trans woman but something else felt missing..." Belle - Lv 5 | Wander - Lv 1 | Pacha - Lv 1

Takara took the journal and studied the drawing, listening to Posie carefully. As a nonbinary person, Takara could understand that. Constantly being told "oh but you are such a handsome man! How can you be nonbinary" and the like. On one hand, Takara didn't mind any pronouns but on the other... it was nice to just be yourself. To hell with what other people thought! Maybe that was why...
"My tailor's name is Ms. Halway. She's pretty old, around 90 years, but she knows her stuff. Teaching her kids to take over the family business. They work over in Summerhill, in their home. Its a small little place, covered in plants. You'll like it." They handed the journal back and smiled. "You go there and tell her Takara sent you, she'll know you're legit. She'll bill it to me."
They smiled. "I can understand what it's like to want to be yourself, and if I can help you achieve that in any way I'll be more than happy to."
Shri watched Takara and Posie carefully. There was a bit of hurt coming from Takara, but nothing too concerning. Just... memories. The memories were soon brushed off and Takara moved among the plants a bit, as if admiring the power of nature. 80 years asleep in the cold and yet these plants could come back. Not the same as if they were wild but still...
"There is an event being planned. Clear some land and till the soil to grow some crops. I wanted trainers to help out with their pokemon, so they can see that they'll be more food soon. Better food. During that event, I'm sure no one will notice if a handful of folks plant some seeds in nearby woods and parks." They smiled. "Or if some extra seeds went missing and appeared."
They turned and looked at Vesuvius who was currently trying to eat a strawberry. Takara pulled it off and handed it to her. "And if some of those plants ended up in gardens made by well-meaning citizens in, say, Famine, who would judge?"

"Famine, Summerhill....thats quite a ways away and to be honest, I 've only ever known this corner of the region. The Glade feels like home, but I suppose this is what I read in some old books I found in that abandoned mansion that was preserved in the safari zone. The journey of a trainer with their pokemon all over the region, and even the world. I suppose researching the flora of different biomes would be beneficial to you no?"
Posie smiled at Takara and the warmth in her heart radiated across the room. Her pokemon could feel her joy, and it made them overjoyed to see their trainer break out of her shell. It was a slow process that Belle started as she began to saw peeks of Posie's true nature in the rooftop garden. She was so comfortable with Belle that she let her façade down, letting the fool out to play with the tricksters that visited the garden. Playing with the fairy types that graced her garden, and the many other visitor pokemon that meandered in from the alleys below. There was a jovial atmosphere up there that Belle wanted to have her trainer bring outside of its box.
"I also had another thought...Say I were to become gym leader of Sylvanport. Do you think that maybe, just maybe, I could have such a strong influence that its stronger than Silph Co? It's hugely ambitious, and probably far fetched...but maybe a clown like me can bring the life of the forest into this city." Belle - Lv 5 | Wander - Lv 1 | Pacha - Lv 1

"It was sad, like those businessmen who came to work in serious clothes but wore colorful ties in a mad, desperate attempt to show there was a free spirit in there somewhere." -Terry Pratchett, Making Money No, I Ain't Happy Yet
Ah, now they were getting somewhere. Having someone that could wander outside of the larger cities to areas that could really use some help would be splendid. To research the biodiversity and how the flora affected the fauna and the people. People were, after all, animals. They lived within nature as well, they depended on it. The disappearance of pokemon really drove that fact home. "If you do ever decide to travel to further your studies, you have my full support. I would suggest not becoming a Salve Co. employee, but I can pay you as a private researcher. And if you discover any of the company's projects are harmful to the local flora and thus the fauna, you can report directly to me with the facts." Otherwise, Takara thought, the ones the board hired would say it was fine. Any damage wouldn't be permanent. It was always a lie. Independent researchers was the only way to go, those not afraid to tell the truth.
Takara did think a bit... a gym... a gym... oh! They snapped their fingers. "Ah, yes. I don't know if you know her, but Farrah Whitaker is going to be starting up the gym system again! She plans to establish the first one here in Sylvanport, actually." Takara talked as Crowley now crawled up them to their shoulders, resting his imp head down on Takara's. "But that doesn't mean you can't start a gym and have influence. Gym leaders used to be leaders of their communities, of whole towns! When trouble come, the gym leader would take care of it. And what you said was true, trainers used to travel. You don't have to make a gym where you come from. Why not make one where you are going? There are plenty of towns that would love a gym leader. Plenty of places your influence would be far greater than Salve Co's in small areas."
They smiled a bit. "Gym leaders once again helping push development and innovation in their own communities. Maybe it'd even make Salve Co. go back to its roots of making medications? Wouldn't that be something! Getting corporate fingers out of every pie." That was one thing Takara would have no part in other than private donations. The gyms were not for corporations to control. They were for the people. For trainers. They wanted to keep it that way.
