The World Tried to Burn All the Mercy out of Me She nodded in understanding. It was good that Arris got a chance to be a kid given his circumstances. Mya's parents tried their best to give her the same freedoms of childhood. Even if the only freedoms she got was on the road with them, making deliveries. Every time she returned back to Famine, though, it was just another reminder that she couldn't be a kid. Being well-off by Famine standards wasn't really well-off. They could put food on the table everyday but it was the worst food in the market. Hardly anything fresh, even for mushrooms and algae. She had to work, to try and find things to bring home a little bit of extra money.
"I've camped a lot, ever since I was a kid," she said, finishing up fighting with the poles. "My parents ran a caravan, delivering stuff made in my town to everywhere, really. When I wanted to get away from them, I'd drag some poles and a tarp with me and set up camp a ways away. Kept in the habit as I got older. It was just nice to get away from the town and from people."
She popped her back and crossed her legs. "Alright, what next in this contraption of yours?"

"Yeah?" Arris watched patiently as Mya figured out the poles as he listened. "Oh, hard work there - I work on Belleview's docks, so I sort of understand the manual labor going into that." It certainly wasn't the same - but moving cargo from dock to dock or ship to ... huh, probably caravans, too, actually - was somewhat similar on a much smaller scale. "Camping's a good way to get to just... get away from people and everything. It can be hard but its peaceful. I'm glad you had that escape - gets to be an addictive hobby after awhile, heh."
The tall trainer paused for a minute to study the tent. He adjusted it slightly to make sure that the poles were in their sleeves, fiddling with the one with that little tear he kept meaning to mend and just... also kept forgetting, before shifting to look again. It was standing! That was good enough, honestly. "Just gotta stick the stakes into the ground. I already have them in the loops there - they just need to be driven in so the tent doesn't up and wander off." He picked a side and went ahead to start, pulling the stake up at an angle before driving it in with his foot, bearing his weight down on it. "Thank you again, by the way," he hummed. "I really appreciate the help."

The World Tried to Burn All the Mercy out of Me Mya hummed as Arris talked about what he did. Dock work, huh? Must be fun, being by the sea and all. Probably more interesting now given pokemon were back. But either way, things everywhere were getting more interesting.
"Gotcha," Mya said as she did the same as him, putting in the pegs on her side of the tent before putting her hands on her hips. "That seems good. And yeah, no problem." She wandered away, picking up Eon off of her jacket and settling him inside her little overhang tent and wrapping him up in the large coat.
She went back towards the fire and began to kick dirt over it. Just enough so the flames turned into glowing embers. It wasn't safe to leave a fire burning while people were asleep, besides, they had pokemon now they were safer than before.
"If you need anything don't be afraid to get me up. I sleep light." She then went back to her tent and laid down next to Eon. It was easier to sleep knowing there were pokemon back, even if not all pokemon were as sweet as Eon.

"You're right! Right as rain, looks good." He nodded appreciatively at the now setup tent.
As Mya put out the campfire, Arris returned to the area as well, gently scooping Belle up into his arm and picking up his sleeping bag in the other. He set his Pokemon down on his bag instead for a moment, so he could shake the debris she'd accumulated off of the fabric, before walking it in to lay out across the tent's bottom. He then picked Belle and the bag back up and nodded to Mya. "Sounds good. Same goes to you - I don't mind being woken up at all. G'night!"
With a nod, he slipped under the entrance of the tent again. Tossing his bag lightly into a corner, he set Belle down gently on one side and flopped over on his back on the other. He didn't bother to zip the tent. It was no wonder he was starting to feel exhaustion pulling at him - what a heck of an exciting day. A Pokemon Partner, a new friend, meeting even other new Pokemon... It felt like he'd been turned upside-down and his childhood returned. He reached a hand out to rest it against Belle gently, as if to remind himself she was still there. The little berry mumbled in her sleep and snuggled into his hand.
Pokemon. In his lifetime. Man, what a crazy thought.

The World Tried to Burn All the Mercy out of Me She woke to the first bit of sunlight, but she also woke to the song of bird pokemon. How amazing that she could hear birds singing now. It was wonderful. And strange. But at the same time it was peaceful, to hear actual nature other than pure silence save for wind and rain. She stretched and yawned, getting up and packing everything up while letting Eon sleep. She stopped for a moment though and sighed, getting out some stuff to make some coffee before she got going. Once it was made, she poured two cups and set one out for Arris.
"Hey," she said, tapping the outside of Arris' tent. "I made coffee. A cup's been poured already. I don't have any sugar, sorry, so I hope you like it black." She moved away, taking a sip from her own cup as she finished packing up her stuff. She sat down and enjoyed her cup slowly, deciding it would be more polite to wait for Arris to get up before she just left. Besides, he might want to finish walking to town with her. And Eon was still snoozing away. She would carry him until he woke up, he deserved rest.

Arris woke quickly upon being roused. A long inhale, a crack of his jaw with a big yawn, and stretching his arms out in front of him before resting them on Belle - who at some point in the night had moved to snuggle on his chest. Her little eyes blinked open and looked at him for a moment, before wiggling cheerfully to hop off and bounce beside him. He himself also sat up and cracked his back. It occurred to him finally to answer Mya. "Oh, thank you! I appreciate that." He was generally a tea person - but he'd never say no to a good cup of the awakening-juice.
Belle was the first one out of the tent. She bounced over to flutter around Mya in greeting, before settling down, relaxed and taking in the early morning sun's rays. Arris wasn't much further behind - taking a minute to take down and pack his own tent with muscle memory built practice, bags packed upon his shoulder, before walking over to pick up the cup of coffee left out for him and taking a big sip - completely ignoring the heat. "Black is nice - more pure long lasting morning packed into a single sip."
On the ground, Belle preened in agreement (as if she knew what coffee was, hah) and got up to bounce up to Arris' head, immediately returning to sunbathing. He snorted quietly in amusement, eyes turning up towards a stray Bounsweet leaf now floating just in front of his eyebrows. "G'mornin, by the by. Perfect day to start going, isn't it?" He took a deep breath of the morning air and grinned brightly, looking down to the road. He hoped to be to town soon - and then, off back to Hickory Town!
He drained his cup the rest of the way, shaking his head before setting it back. The energy'd catch him quick. Good old caffeine. "Thank you again - for the coffee, and for the nice conversation, yesterday. It's about time for us to head out I think, and if you want to travel together - or not! Either is cool, but - oh!" He dug his phone out of his pocket. "You want to exchange numbers? Might be nice to keep contact."

The World Tried to Burn All the Mercy out of Me Mya smiled at the bounsweet's nice morning greeting and went back to her own cup of coffee, watching Arris take apart and pack up his things. During this, Eon decided to finally wake up. The bagon waddles over to Mya before giving a yawn. She smiled at him and patted his head. "It is a nice day, shouldn't take too long to reach town at this rate." She finished her coffee and tossed the cup into her bag. She'd clean it later.
"Yeah, no problem. I appreciated the company. I love En to bits but he's not much for conversation, you know?" She chuckled. When Arris mentioned the phone number though, she nodded and took hers out of her pocket. "Yeah, I gotcha." She traded numbers, making sure to put a little berry emoticon by Arris' name, for Belle.
With a sigh, she stood up and popped her back, giving a big stretch before she slung her bag over her shoulder. "Alright, let's go. If we start now we should reach the next town by noon or a little after."
