Name: Farrah Whitaker
Age: 33
Gender: Nonbinary (They/Them or She/Her)
Hometown: Sylvanport
Personality:
KEY PERSONALITY TRAITS: Personable | Creative | Snarky
As a public figure, Farrah often has to keep their behaviors, personal schedule, and her life under wraps and in tight control. As a result, people don't often see the musician for who they are. On stage or in society, Farrah is relatable: friendly, slightly awkward, often full of energy and with mild witticisms and plenty of encouragement. She speaks out in defense of the downtrodden and struggling, and is an advocate for people following their dreams. After all, she herself went against the grain to get to where they are. They are passionate about their work, and while they generally find inspiration in the darkness, their disposition tends towards the light. They love interacting with their fans, swapping stories and engaging in small talk.
Behind closed doors in anonymity, Farrah isn't entirely different - just enough. They still advocate for the little guy, but when it's just them, it comes with a lot more stress and simmering anxiety. She struggles to socialize and connect with people on a personal level - she's been in the spotlight for so long she doesn't know how to act what is considered normal. They're often a bit more formal than they need to be, and often can come off as aloof or cold. This isn't helped by their sense of humor - amused by puns and bad jokes, but delivering in generally snarky deadpan. She seems embarrassed to talk about things she's personally interested in - as if it's shameful to show intrigue in things that aren't her job, or the education she had and has knowledge in.
Even though there is a lot of darkness in the world, Farrah still finds the beauty and art in it. A good phrase to describe her would be 'nebulously tired, but perpetually busy'.
Backstory:
Farrah had what many people would call a privileged childhood: They would prefer to call it 'stifling and suffocating.' While they were taken care of, she grew up with rigid expectations, her entire future planned out for her from her birth. She was taught manners, how to make business deals, to network and schmooze and socialize without actually socializing. Farrah wasn't to have outside interests aside from the family business, and if she did, they were quickly shut down and stamped out. It was a shame Farrah just didn't like to play by the rules given to her.
For the most part, however, that childhood solidified how she grew. Interests were kept hidden. Emotions were kept bottled up, tamped down to plug the growing void in her gut. Those who met them saw a very proper, polite, perfectly sociable child. It was almost a relief when she was sent off to Mistveil University to study a major that was chosen for her. A major in Marketing and a minor in Finance wasn't something Farrah was interested in the least, though she took to it well enough - the real key was the people she met while in University. A wide variety of people brought a very open new mindset of the world. She found solace in music and the arts, and the creativity of writing chords and lyrics soon became her first passion that people actually encouraged. They discovered their identity through courageous exploration and rapport, and their peers pushed her to take music classes on the side with history, broadening her view and biding her time until they earned their degree and fulfilled expectations.
This was when Farrah broke away. Their first independent purchase was a dedicated notebook and pen, and an ancient second-hand beat up old black and white monstrosity of a guitar. While they knew that they had their family to lean back on if they had to, they couldn't deal with the disappointment and scorn that would come with it, and so they struggled on their own, striving forward to make their own path. It was hard, at first - taking side-jobs and making music on the street. But eventually, they gathered a little fame from cafe and dive bar gigs - and one thing led to another until her music was a well-known name in Deprin, and she'd made it big - or as big as one heard on local store radios could get - off the merit of her own hard work.
----
They were out in town when it happened, playing in an open square on that faithful old guitar. Traffic had been a little backed up that day, but they hadn't realized why, until they and the people present saw. There were a few chirps - strange magnificent birds with music notes for heads had alighted upon nearby light-posts. Farrah stopped playing immediately, and they and the passersby stared with wide-eyes, until someone squealed - and there was another creature like a little squirrel skittering through the square. Pokemon. What!?
"Holy shit." Farrah remembered something, suddenly, watching this insane scene. A fan had given them something as a gift a while back - a scuffed up black and red pokeball. Farrah had known better than to try to open it, but the person had simply grinned at them with a simple 'this seems like it would fit your aesthetic quite nicely'. It had, actually. It was a handsome thing - elegant but simple - and dark like the fashion they often wore. At that moment, it was setting on a decorative stand on her nightstand at home. They wondered...
Quickly, they snapped their guitar back into its case, slung it onto their back and took off at a jog down the street, pulling out their phone as they did. "Sorry folks! Just realized I've got a prior engagement!" She didn't think they'd mind too much. There was still quite a bit of excitement of the fairy-tale history come to life taking all the attention. As they jogged through the back roads towards their home, they pulled their phone up to their ear, waiting for the dial tone.
"Mistveil Laboratory? I've got something I need you to take a look at."

Physical Appearance:
Farrah is relatively slightly built - lithe with strong shoulders. Their skin is relatively peachy, but tans well. They stand at roughly 5'9", with a cropped cut faux mohawk they can never decide whether they're growing out or not. From the back, it looks vaguely like a mullet. They dye their hair often, generally keeping with a black-and-white theme, but for events, seasons, and concerts they're known to show up with every two-tone under the rainbow. These days, they might dye it to match some pokemon. They have multiple piercings in their ears, snake bites at their lip, and it's fairly variable whether they'll wear makeup or not. For the most part, they dress in cool colors - very often in black or navy.
