Ah, Sunhaven. Home of sun, home of beach, home of old history in the form of beautifully faded murals and happiness. And of course, who could forget the beautiful beaches of the famous bathtub of Deprin, the Northern Gulf? It was a lovely, lovely day. The sun was out and the only clouds in the sky were bright white and unbelievably fluffy. How often did perfect days like this actually occur? It sure didn't seem like it was often.
And so, Arris Yule was taking advantage of the weather while it lasted. Down on the beach in the pretty white sand, without even a parasol nor towel of any kind to keep him safe from sun or sand, was the trainer. He was sprawled out on his back in the sand like a Staryu. Tossed carelessly beside him was his usual satchel, his shoes somewhere beside them. Aside from that, it appeared the only things that Arris was wearing was a simple tanktop and some shorts - and a pair of sunglasses which were perched not over his eyes, but somewhere atop his head in his mop of russet hair.
Beside him in the sand, similarly sprawled out, was a Pikachu. And in an almost comical sense of fashion matching, the Pikachu also had a pair of shades - though more intelligently than his trainer, his shades were indeed perched over his little fuzzy nose.
From afar, a trainer and Pokemon flat out on the ground in the sand might look particularly concerning. But up close, it seemed no concern was needed: it was a lackadaisical day for relaxation, and Arris was happy to soak in the rays with anyone who wanted to as well.

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds {Takara will use he/him or they/them this thread!}They had been out here for a while, enjoying a rare day off. It wasn't like Takara to cancel a day of work just because, but it was such a lovely day outside! How could he not? Shri was seeming to enjoy herself as well. They had made the trip up to Sunhaven if only for the beach, but also for some quality time. Takara had Eelington and Daffodil on him, of course, but this was Shri's time to play. Takara couldn't lie, she was his favorite. Besides, it was nice to get some bonding time. "Go long!" Takara said, kicking the soccer ball hard. It soared through the air and hit the sand, bounding a bit. The riolu caught up with it and gave it a hard kick, but it spun away from Takara and towards... ah, just a lump on the beach, nothing to worry about! Except it wasn't a lump. Takara sucked air between their teeth and watched in horror as the soccer ball landed squarely on the stranger's stomach and bounced off and away. Aw, fuck. Well. Shri just gave a snort, clearly not concerned, but she could feel Takara's worry in his aura and the way he was running towards the stranger.
"I am so sorry! Are you alright?" Takara asked as he approached. Should... they go to a hospital?

In all honesty, while Pepper might have been sunbathing, Arris had actually fallen asleep entirely under the sun. Which... wasn't particularly smart, considering the lack of sunscreen and the fact that his skin had darkened considerably in the time he'd been out there, but it was fine. Arris didn't burn anyway, just darkened until he looked like a native Alolan.
And because he was asleep, he was entirely unaware of the projectile ricocheting directly towards him until the soccer ball had beaned him dead-on in the gut. With a sharp, startled wheeze, Arris was ripped back to consciousness, sitting up violently with a hand over his gut. His sunglasses went flying off his head into his lap. Pepper, similarly startled, jolted upwards with a spark of electricity, twirling around with wide-eyes, the Pikachu's sunglasses crooked on his face. "Hoooooly-- what was... Pepper, what, did you tackle me or something?" He looked at Pepper, who waved his paws wildly in denial. "Then what..."
He paused, looking up as he heard someone else's voice. Oh - hey, another person. Neat. Arris' still mostly-asleep brain tried desperately to catch up and process what had happened. "Uhh - yeah, man, I'm alright... I think?" He sat up more properly, looking a bit dazed before finally grabbing his shades and standing, patting his stomach. It didn't really hurt that much... just startled, more than anything. His heart rate was sure up though! He looked back down to Pepper, who was pushing the ball back towards Arris and the other person with his nose. The tall boy picked it up carefully, before turning to the stranger. "Not sure why you're apologizin', though? Sorry. Did..." He stared at the ball for a minute. Was... this what hit him? He ran a hand over his eyes and blinked away the grogginess, before holding the ball out. "Sorry. No, yeah. It's all good. I was uh... this yours?"

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds It didn't seem like the stranger was too hurt? That was... good. At least he could get up and move around without too much worry but still, that didn't look like it felt nice. Takara was embarrassed but only let concern show on his features. Shri just looked up at them and sighed. Ugh, people. She gave a small wave to the pikachu and a greeting. The stranger didn't seem too horribly harmed so therefore she wasn't going to really express any sort of real concern until proven otherwise anyway."Um... yes, that's mine. I am so sorry, we were just playing some kickball and... well, it kinda got away from us." He took the ball and frowned. "Are you... sure you are alright?"
A thought came to Shri's head as the humans talked. She glanced at the pikachu and began to speak, asking if he and his human would be interested in playing a game of ball with them. The two versus two. It might be fun, a good way to get some exercise while out on such a lovely day as this. She explained that she and Takara were out trying to bond, something about growing stronger as a team. Maybe the pikachu and his trainer would be interested in something similar?

Pepper waved back to the Riolu, adjusting his shades before watching his trainer carefully. "Piikapi." If the other Pokemon didn't care, he wouldn't either - but that ball had hit with a resounding slap. He was sure Arris' stomach was red underneath the tanktop. Oof. But he seemed nonchalant, so...
"Ahhhhh..." Arris looked at the ball and back up again with a noise of understanding, before laughing good-naturedly. "That sure explains a lot! Damn, man, you've got a hell of a kick. I'm impressed." He waved Takara off though, his good mood seemingly unaffected in the slightest. "Nah, nah. I'm good. I think you all more scared the soul of Giratina itself out of me more than anything," he chuckled. "A ball to the gut here and there isn't gonna cause any harm." And in a medical history of myriads of broken bones, scuffs, scrapes, surgical scars and other things, it really wasn't that bad at all. Did it sting? A bit. But it'd be fine in a couple of minutes.
Pepper ran his paw over his chin in thought, contemplating the offer as his attention was drawn back to the Riolu. A game of two on two, huh? Yeah, that did seem like a fun time! And if it meant Arris was actively exercising and working with Pepper - well that was more than fine because Belle sure couldn't ever keep up. He nodded, accepting the offer. And being on teams with their trainers meant they were working together! Which was also fine for Pepper, since being in sync made battles so much more fun. Turning, he scaled up Arris' legs, pausing at his chest to take off his little shades and hang them next to Arris' on the collar of the top, before climbing the rest of the way to his shoulder. From there, he nodded down at the Riolu before looking to the other trainer, ears tilted fully forwards in curiosity, looking down at the ball and back at the trainer again repeatedly to try to get the point across. "Pika-pika?"

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Takara gave a small chuckle. "Oh! No, it wasn't me, it was Shri here," he said, glancing down at the riolu. She looked back at him, clearly not as bothered by the situation. But she did glance back to the pikachu and noticed the look. Takara could be dense sometimes. She patted Takara's leg. "Riiiolu. Riri." she pointed to the ball, to the two of them, and then to the other two.
"Oh," Takara said, frowning. "Are you sure?" Shri nodded. She thought it would be fun! Plus, it'd be nice to play in a game with Takara. He glanced at the pikachu, noting that look. Well, alright then. "Hey, uh... how about a game? Two on two? Might be good to get to work better with our pokemon, ya know?" He was forgetting something... "Oh! Right! I'm Takara, it's a pleasure."
Who knows how the game would go, but the important thing was bonding with their pokemon. They had to know 'em well to battle, right? Besides, Shri was... starting to act a bit weird. Not in a bad way, but she seemed to be more intent on keeping closer to Takara and taking things more seriously than she had been. Maybe releasing some pent up energy would be good for her.

"Ah, I see!" Arris glanced down to the Riolu, giving her an appreciative nod. "Alright then, you've got a whopper of a kick. Nice!" He watched as the Riolu - Shri, was it? - communicated with her trainer, and he tilted his head curiously, glancing at Pepper's pointed expression before looking back to the stranger. Were they suggesting...?
Oh, they were! Arris reached up to pat Pepper on the head gently, before nodding with a friendly grin. "Yeah, sure! I'm down for a game. Team-building is always good - y'never know when that bond is gonna be the moment between life and death...." His expression looked serious for a moment, before he laughed. "Or, y'know - gettin' beaned with a ball or not, ahahaha!"
The boy shook his head, amused, before saluting to Takara. "Nice t'meet you, Takara. I'm Arris, and this goober is Pepper. Speaking of... hey, Peps, I'm gonna put our shades in my bag, okay? Why don't you grab a stick and mark out some lines for a game of ball?" Pepper waved to Takara from Arris' shoulder, wiggling his little nose before leaping straight off his trainer into the sand, looking around for a good stick to use. Arris watched him for a moment, before true to form putting the shades away. It would be nice to bond with the Pikachu a little more. He was so close to Belle, but she'd been getting a bit... moody and sleepy as of late. And having new buds was always great. "I uh... don't actually know if we need marks or lines of any kind, ahah. What kinda two-on-two y'all thinking? Like a game of soccer?"
The sand was more sand than plant, so Pepper didn't find anything. Realizing he could just use his tail, though, he came shuffling back over and coasted to a stop next to Shri. He gave her a side-long look like 'my trainer tricked me and he knows it' before perking back up again. Alright, playtime! Niceeeeee.

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Takara hummed. Arris, right. He'd remember that. Looking at the field that Pepper laid out, he tried to come up with some sort of.... he didn't even know. Perhaps his brain was still stuck in the office. A simple game of soccer would be fine. Nice and easy. Ends of the field are where the points are scored."Yeah! I think a game of soccer would be fine. What do you think, Shri?" Shri turned her attention away from Pepper and gave a nod. This was bound to be fun. "I mean, I don't think we really need to track points but I guess like, whoever gets 5 points first wins the first round? Prize is bragging rights?" Takara knew Shri had no intent on aiming to win. She was more about the strategy and the careful planning of a battle. She wasn't really one to rush in even if there was some sort of prize or advantage. She was careful and methodological. If anything, Takara learned she focused on precision versus power. Maybe that was why she was still a little weak. It seemed she was far more fit for a war room than actual battle but they'd work on it.
Shri went over to stand on one side of the field, waiting for Takara to join her. He tossed her the ball, letting her experimentally kick it. She was just slightly larger than it, but a few weeks ago she was smaller than a soccer ball. It was pretty hilarious. That size didn't stop her from having some powerful kicks, though. "That sound good to ya'll?" He asked. It was a nice day for a game. So, why not?

"Alright Peps, let's do this then!" Arris clapped his hands to encourage the Pikachu to jump up into his arms, and he rubbed the electric mouse's cheeks energetically. "Ready to play? Yeah? Yeah, let's go go go!" He knew his hair was standing on end from mild static. But it was okay, because the moment he let go of Pepper the Pikachu was tearing off across the beach, kicking up sand behind him in excitement. So easy to induce a case of the 'zoomies' really... but it was worth it to see the little guy having fun.
He burst into laughter before nodding at Takara with a grin. "Prize for us I think is a good time, but bragging rights are aaaall yours. But sounds good! Alright!" Arris jogged over to the other side of the field where Pepper seemed to be digging a very quick makeshift hole. "...Is that for a field-goal?"
"Pikapika pi!"
"That a yes? Okay, sure." Arris shrugged. Good enough; he'd have to make sure he didn't trip in it. Pepper zipped forward in front of Arris, electricity sparking on the electric mouse's cheeks energetically. Arris himself settled into a position in front of the 'goal', ready to let Pepper take point. "Sounds good to us! Whenever you two are ready, I think we're good to go!"
This was going to be fun!

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Taking a note from Pepper, Shri dug out their own goal as well, motioning for Takara to take a stance in front of it like Arris. She then stood in front of Pepper with a smile. This was bound to be fun! Takara tossed the ball up and down a moment before approaching and placing it in the center of the field before walking back to his position."Alright! No actual attacks, Shri! Be good!" He said. She nodded in response. Of course! This was going to be a pure game. "And.... play!" he called. Shri darted forward towards the ball, intent on trying to reach it first, but Pepper already seemed a lot faster than her. Still! She was going to do her damn best, and even if she didn't have speed on her side, she had strategy! Maybe she could use Pepper's speed and energy against him? Who knew, they'd have to see!

Arris cracked his knuckles and took a moment to stretch himself out. His back popped in quick succession, and he sighed, limbered out and ready to go. Alright! The two were at their goals, things look set, and... time to go! "Alright Pepper! Clean and easy, you got this!" Arris himself dropped into a ready position in case the ball came his way, ready to take off at a moments notice to help his Pikachu out if he was called.
Pepper paused for a moment, gauging the situation before he took off for the ball at full tilt. He was certainly outpacing the Riolu - but perhaps a bit too much! His feet - which were normally quite grounded on grass and pavement - weren't getting the same traction in sand, and as he reached the ball, he fumbled in the sand and tripped! Instead of a purposeful hit, his nose smacked into the ball and bunted it only slightly into the air, away from him and towards Shri. Shoot! He hadn't expected his own feet to go out from under him.

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Shri took the advantage granted to gain control of the ball, smiling a bit to herself when Pepper skidded in the sand. Speed was good but it wasn't always the best, especially on terrain that didn't work well for traction. She began to kick the ball over towards Arris and Pepper's side of the 'field'.She was aiming for a goal.... if she could keep control of the ball for that long. Her stance was true and her footwork was good, but she was still just tall enough to see over the ball, and she didn't have the advantage of four paws to run on either. Plus the sand wasn't great for keeping the ball moving but she was going her best! Takara was cheering her on to keep going for the goal, so that is what she would try to do!

Ah, shoot! Shri was getting away. Pepper picked himself up off the ground, shaking himself off violently. Ughhhh sand. It was coarse and gritty and it - nevermind, there was a ball to catch! He whipped around (and the movement of his tail only covered him with more sand, but he was ignoring that) and took off back after the ball too. It seemed that Pepper hadn't learned his lesson though.
Despite Arris calling for him and egging him on, the Pikachu hadn't quite gotten that his speed was still to his detriment in the sand. Rather than picking his steps carefully, he was trying to chug through the sand like a freighter instead of an agile Pokemon. Sand was sure being kicked up behind him, and he was catching up with Shri... but just not quite quick enough!
"That's alright Peps - get ready, I got this!" Arris bounced up and down on the balls of his feet, shifting from side to side as he got ready for Shri approaching. Yeah, he had this! He'd get the ball, they could do it!

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Pepper's speed was good, but the sand seemed to be in Shri's favor. She took the chance to pick up her pace and to try and shoot her shot! She lined up with the goal on one side and kicked the ball as hard as she could, sending it flying. But it was all down to Arris' defense!"You got this, Shri!" Takara called, actually rather pleased he just got to stand there for the moment. His praise got him a thumbs up from his riolu and a bright smile. Aw, she seemed happy. That was good. But he also knew he'd have to be at the defense soon as well. Pepper was bound to get his speed under control and have more sure footing soon, the pikachu seemed to be a crafty one. They couldn't relax with such a fast pokemon going up against Shri. The moment Pepper got used to the sand, Takara knew it was going to be a real struggle. Might as well enjoy the advantage while they had it!

The moment Pepper realized that catching up was a lost cause, he skidded to a halt in the sand with a little "P-chuuu!" He shook his long ears out. Well, that didn't go well. It was up to his human! And if Arris could successfully get past Shri's power and deflect the ball... the Pikachu hopped to the side and crouched, ready to go at a moment's notice. He was ready when his partner was!
Arris took a deep breath. Okay. Here it came. His eyes met his Pikachu's for a solid moment as Shri let loose an extremely fast and solid kick. And at a fantastic angle. Crap! He was gonna have to move fast. Quick on his feet, he lunged towards the ball, but it became really obvious that as fast as the ball was going he wasn't going to be able to make it or block it in time. So in a moment of bold thought, Arris did the only thing he really thought he could do: he stopped and pivoted on his feet, swinging his leg up into the air in a mildly unbalanced wild kick.
He didn't expect to hit the ball at all. He fully expected the fwish as the soccerball went zooming by. What he did not expect was the extremely solid thud of pressure slamming into his shin as he successfully made the kick. The first thought he had was 'Shit, that hurt!' - the second thought he had was nothing but surprised static as the soccerball careened right back the way it came towards Pepper and Shri. His eyes were wide in shock as he looked up towards Takara as if to confirm that what had just occurred did in fact actually happen. Holy shit?? "....Woah!? Pepper, heads up!!!"
