Paldean Mysteries + Site Updates | ||
Sheryl: "Wow, that's a great recipe, Frank! I can't wait to try it out with my Ducklett!" Frank: "Haha, absolutely, Sheryl. Now, in other news, some mysterious findings have been reported by the Pokémon Lab, the Pokémon League, and Salve Co. in recent weeks. First, Pokémon that have never once called Deprin home are starting to appear. We'll go to Alex out in the field. How's it looking, Alex?" Alex: "Thanks, Sheryl, Frank. I'm here at the Pokémon Laboratories in Mistveil as Paldean Pokémon are being brought in for testing. As a quick geography lesson, Paldea was a region across the world from Deprin. It was one of the few places where none of its native Pokémon appeared here, unlike Hoenn, Unova, and other such regions. I'm here now with a Pokémon known as a Pawmi, a Paldean Pokémon that was very much beloved by the people of Paldea. What's very strange about this is that we haven't seen any new Pokémon since the Rapture and we only very recently got our own Pokémon back, so how are they here? These mysteries are being researched at the- sorry... I'm... getting some news that someone has... fallen out of the sky!? They're... they're alive but..." Frank: "Ha... uh, Alex, you alright there? Sheryl and I are getting a bit worried!" Sheryl: "The transmission with Alex ended. Should we call the lab?" Frank: "That's a good idea- uh, cut to commercial! We'll be right back after these messages from our sponsors!" Hello one and all! And welcome to another update for Pokémon Rapture! As most of you know, we are a slow-paced site. This means periods of stillness are built into the site by design--after all, no one should be stressed roleplaying! With that said, slow-paced or not, we still love our events! And welcome to one of the biggest events of all (so far)! This event is different than some other events where there is only one expiration date involved, but everything else stays permanent. Don't worry, we'll go into further details! Without further ado, the update! Site Updates We have a whole host of site updates to enjoy, both plot and mechanics wise! From new groups characters can support, join, or oppose to brand new Pokémon to encounter! Here's a rundown:
Pokémon Stats Update If you notice any discrepancies in your Pokémon's stats, don't panic! We went through and made some changes as we saw a minor stat update to make things go smoothly for a few later updates involving Mega Evolution, Ultra Beasts, and other fun things! All stats are now 100% correct across site and for all Pokémon in trackers and any wild Pokémon currently in wild threads will have their stats updated by the next post. We only updated the stats in the statblock code portion of trackers, so if you kept the stats somewhere else, you will need to manually update them yourself. Please do not edit the stats in the statblock code. How do you know we edited your Pokémon's stats? Easy! If you haven't been back into your tracker in a while, check the post! You'll see it edited by a member of staff. Please note that not everyone saw an update! We checked all Level 1 Pokémon and if they do not have an edit from us that means they were already correct. What did we do? Well, we reworked how stats work to prepare for some future updates. This includes buffs to non-evolving Pokémon and bumping every single Pokémon not on an interval of 5 (and not level 1) up to the next one! For example, if you had a level 2 Pokémon they should now be level 5 in their statblock with the stats to match! Free level-up! Due to how level-up works, some stats will be higher or lower than their old stats. This is normal! We started every single Pokémon from scratch at level 1 using the new stat rules and built them up level-by-level. But now, a lot of Pokémon on site are stronger than before! The Deprin News Network The Deprin News Network is an independent, listener supported group of reporters that create a radio show, podcast, MooTube videos, and a newspaper! They are the most well-known and most trusted news network in all of Deprin for the past 80 years and have a strong ethical standard to always seek the truth and always report on news as soon as possible. They do not focus on any sort of gossip or tabloids and hold themselves to incredibly high standards of reporting. The Deprin News Network can be found in the Deprin News Network's official information post and on the site Discord in the #deprin-news-network channel. Players are welcome to submit their own news as well, as long as they keep in mind the Deprin News Network standards (also found on the information post). Likewise, people are welcome to create characters that are affiliated with the Network in whichever way they want to be! Perhaps a reporter or a competitor trying to unseat them as the best news source in Deprin. Pokémon League: Gyms Update There has been a massive update to the Deprin Pokémon League's Gyms! You can read more about these changes in the The Pokémon League: Gyms and Certificates rules, but here is a quick run down:
This is a REALLY big update and will take time to get all the gyms looking perfect, but don't let a gym's unpolished or unfinished surface discourage you! Let staff know you want to challenge the gym and we will switch our focus to updating that one and beginning your challenge as we do so! Deprin Outsiders Appear First, not all those from outside Deprin have appeared dropping out of the sky. That only happened maybe a dozen times. But! That's right! Characters from other regions are now open to play with some very strict rules:
Paldean Pokémon Paldean Pokémon have officially come to Deprin! This is quite an event in site lore--mostly because Paldean Pokémon have never been seen in Deprin, even before the Rapture. There are some Pokémon from other regions, like Paldea, that never seemed to take to Deprin's environments before. But this seems to have suddenly change with their sudden appearance! The full site integration for them is completed! You can encounter Paldean Pokémon anywhere on site--maybe some are still hanging around the Safari Zone? Paradox Pokémon, Pokémon Marks**, Abilities, and Swarm Along with the release of Paldean Pokémon, we are also seeing the appearance of Paradox Pokémon! These Pokémon can be found in specific locations (not all of them are in the same place), but there is also a chance of encountering Pokémon that have a "Paradox Mark". The Paradox Mark (and the newly introduced Shiny Mark) are symbols that will now appear by a Pokémon's name during their encounter. This means that, unless you purchase a Paradox Mark Removal from the Site Store, your Paradox Marked Pokémon will evolve into a Paradox Pokémon. Now, if you have a Pokémon without a Paradox Mark, you can purchase a Paradox Evolution from the Level-Up and Evolution Request thread. Please note that Paradox evolutions are permanent. Here are the new symbols to clearly mark special Pokémon: Shiny Mark: ☆, represented by an empty five pointed star. Paradox Mark: ☣, represented by the bio-hazard symbol. Paradox Pokémon and shiny Pokémon have different encounter chances... can you guess the odds of encountering each? Next, abilities have seen an update! View section VI. Abilities to see a list of abilities that have been edited to better fit with Rapture's inner-workings. If you do not see an ability you think needs to be looked at, please let staff know! Finally, swarms are seeing a soon-to-be update to allow a higher chance of capturing a shiny or paradox Pokémon! Keep your eyes peeled for the swarm update (to be announced by the DNN) because we will use the Mark symbols to state which Pokémon will be more likely to be encountered as a shiny or with a paradox mark! **Please note: you cannot add or remove these marks by a Pokémon's name without official permission from staff. For example, adding a Shiny Mark by a Pokémon's name that was not encountered as a shiny Pokémon will result in a warning and removal of the mark. If the mark keeps being added after removal, staff will shiny/paradox lock your account--this means you will never be able to encounter a shiny or paradox Pokémon or purchase a paradox evolution on this site. Self-Moderated and Volunteer Moderated Threads Self-moderated and volunteer-moderated threads have arrived! You can review the rules for them here and request one here! Everyone that participates in this event gets a free self-modded/volunteer-modded thread per OOC account*! So pick one of your characters to give it a try on, if you would like! You can see it in action in our example thread here! *You cannot hoard this free self/volunteer-modded thread. You must claim it + start it before the event officially ends on 10/31/2024. Breeding + Free Egg Promotion Ever wanted to be a breeder and hatch Pokémon eggs? Well, now you can! Pokémon breeding mechanics have finally come to Pokémon Rapture! You can get a full over view of the Breeding Mechanics here, but here is a general run-down for hatching eggs:
To kick off this final announcement as well, we are offering one Free Egg to all characters until 10/31/2024! This egg will, of course, be a mystery, and it must be hatched in accordance to the rules. Likewise, if your character is new, you are welcome to get an egg but you still cannot roleplay anywhere until you have your starter Pokémon. To collect your free egg, please respond to this thread with your OOC account and the characters that would like an egg: Leggo my egg-o! |
