| I. The Pokémon LeagueDeprin's Pokémon League collapsed after the Rapture. With no pokémon around, the power of the gym leaders, elite four, and champion faded very quickly and the League lost the respect of people as it was powerless to stop disasters. Instead, individuals turned to each other, elected officials, or the town's wisest (or in some case richest) to take over and create safe havens. For years, gyms and stadiums across the region were taken apart for their metal or wood, used as shelters, storage, or for other purposes. Some gyms were destroyed or lost when their cities faced unknown disaster, such as the lost city deep in Broadmarsh's heart. The thought of gyms and their leaders being the heads of communities faded away. Now, with the return of pokémon, there have been rumors that the League is starting back up and is once more becoming a powerful force across the region. League members are proving their knowledge of pokémon and the respect they have gained from the powerful creatures, thus, they are gaining more respect among Deprin's communities as one of their most powerful defenders. II. Deprin's GymsLike most Pokémon Leagues, Deprin had eight gyms; however, they were all shut down. This has left a vacuum in the League, but also an opportunity to create new gyms across the region for those that can prove themselves. Anyone can become a gym leader if they put in the work. There is limited space, however, but a gym leader may be willing to accept some gym trainers to assist them with running the gym while they handle problems around the region or their town. Challenger Guidelines- There is no set order of gyms in Deprin. Instead, a gym's challenge rating depends on how many badges/certificates a challenger has collected. All gyms have scaled teams for the gym trainers and the gym's pokémon will be adjusted to match your challenge rating if they are above or below your current rating. This keeps all battles fair and challenging and is accomplished through Salve Co.'s power-altering devices for pokémon.
- There are 8 different gym scales: level 20, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, 65, and 70.
- Having no badges/certificates is a challenge of level 20, one badge/certificate is level 30, two badges/certificates is level 40, and that continues right until the final gym which will be level 70, where you can earn your last badge (certificates are earned in a different manner).
- Level Challenge Clarification: A gym's trainers will be 5 minus the gym's challenge rating. For example, if you are about to challenge your fifth gym, then the gym leader will be at level 50 but the gym trainers will be at level 45.
- To challenge the gym leader to earn the badge, you must beat one randomly rolled gym trainer or earn the gym certificate. If you challenge the gym leader again after earning their badge, the battle will be "no-bars-held" which means you will face the gym leader at whatever level their pokémon are and there will be no level scaling. This means if you challenge a gym leader a second time, and your pokémon are level 40, and their pokémon are level 90, then it will be your level 40 team versus their level 90 team.
- From badges/certifications 1 - 4 each gym trainer will have 2 pokémon. At level 5 all challenges go to three pokémon with few exceptions.
Gym Leader Guidelines- A gym leader's team must have two pokémon of the gym's type specialty. The third pokémon can be of any type, but they have to fit the type theme. If you have more than three pokémon that qualify for gym battles, you can roll for them, but your team must have at least two that match the gym type and one that matches the gym theme.
- Each gym has 3 flagship pokémon which serve as your gym's "mascots". These must be pokémon you currently have, but you do not have to battle with them. You are welcome to randomize your gym team (as long as they meet the conditions) for a battle or use your flagships. The choice is yours!
- A gym team must consist of pokémon at least level 15 or higher. Gyms do not have a "max level" for their team, instead, gyms are scaled according to how many badges the challenger has. Please see "Challenger Guidelines" for more information.
- Please be mindful of single-stage pokémon as their stats are adjusted to put them on a level-playing field as final stage pokémon. We recommend only using them when a challenger has their 5th badge/certificate and beyond. If you want to use a single-stage pokémon before the challenger's 5th badge/certificate, please stick to a two-pokémon team as to not overwhelm a newer challenger.
- If a gym leader's team is stronger/weaker than a challenger's level-scale, the leader's pokémon will have their stats lowered/raised for the match only. Moves, abilities, and evolutions will not change. Held items that affect stats will not be affected.
- Gym leaders need to respond to challenges in a timely manner. Please communicate with challengers if something is going on that may slow down responses or have temporary gym leaders that can take over challenges in your absence (staff will run these temporary leaders for you).
- You can step down as gym leader at any time. You do not need a replacement.
How to Become a Gym Leader- You must complete an exhibition battle to show you understand how to run rolled battles. This battle can be with any current Gym Leader, Elite Four, or the Champion. You can also battle public figures like Farrah Whitaker and Takara Wilton . Please reach out to the players of these leaders/E4/champ/public figures to discuss the battle. These battles will be scaled to level 50 for both sides and the challenger will perform all the rolls for the battle to prove their knowledge.
- You must have three pokémon over the level of 15. Two of these must share the same type as the gym you want and the third must fit the theme (for example, a charizard may not be dragon-type, but it fits the dragon theme).
- Temporary gym leaders have not locked types or cities in stone! If you want to have a water gym and move it to an empty town, you can absolutely do that.
- Finally, be sure to contact staff to inform them you wish to create a gym! They will help you work your way through these steps and ensure everything is in place.
Current GymsIII. The Elite Four and Champion(s)The Elite Four and the Champion stand as the last challenges of the League. The strongest of the strong among trainers! Unlike the Champion, the Elite Four members do not easily change and tend to hold their positions down like gym leaders. For the Champion title, former champions are well respected and a record is kept of them, but the current winner of a Championship match is known as Deprin's current Champion. How to Become an Elite Four or ChampionElite Four and Champion GuidelinesCurrent Elite Four- There are no E4 yet as all empty gym slots must be filled first.
Current and Former Champion(s)- There are no Champions yet as all empty gym and E4 slots must be filled first.
IV. League CertificatesIn Deprin, certificates allow people more freedom when moving through the League and its ranks. In a general sense, certificates work the exact same as badges. They get you the same items as gyms would and the eight certificates allow you to challenge the E4 and Champion just like the eight gym badges; however, the E4 and Champion must still be challenged in battle as there are no certificates for them. You can only challenge the E4 or Champion if you have 8 total gym badges or 8 total certificates. You cannot combine badges and certificates. In order to get a certificate from a gym, you must complete that gym leader's challenge(s). Gyms can range from one to three challenges that prove your skills to the gym leader. Once you complete these challenges, you can report to the gym and claim your certificate. If you have a gym's badge or certificate, you are welcome to return and get the other! For example, if you already have a badge, you can return to the gym and complete the challenges for the certificate or vice versa. Can you collect all 16 gym trophies? Certificate Challenge Rules (for challengers):- You must notify the gym leader before completing challenges. This means you cannot claim a thread you completed or something you did before notifying the gym as completion of the challenge. (Ex: a thread you completed 2 months before notifying the gym cannot be used for the challenges, even if it meets all requirements).
- You can notify the gym leader by posting in their gym board. This does not have to be IC if you don't want it to be (this can be discussed between you and the gym leader). Simply post a statement of challenge. Once the gym leader responds and accepts your challenge, you can begin working towards completing the gym's challenges!
- Challenges must be completed in full. This mean any threads that are required or special events (such as evolution) that need to take place must be completed and official.
- Staff and the gym leader in question must review your submissions for the challenge before you are awarded your certificate. Staff will lock and archive your challenge thread once you are given your certificate.
- You can only complete a gym's challenges for a certificate once, just as you can only earn the badge once.
- There is no time limit on completing challenges for a certificate; however, you can only be part of one gym's challenges at a time.
Certificate Challenge Rules (for gym leaders):- Challenges must be approved by staff before they are considered official for your gym.
- You can have anywhere from one to three challenges. You need at least one, but cannot have more than three.
- You can edit your challenges at any time with approval from staff. You cannot edit them while someone is in the middle of a challenge and editing your challenges does not affect anyone that already has their certificates.
- Your challenges cannot involve a site-wide event or something impossible for players (such as capturing or battling a legendary, catching or encountering a shiny, etc.)
- It is your responsibility to accept certificate challenges in a timely manner for your gym. If you expect to be absent, please let staff know and we can take over for you until you get back.
V. Items Unlocked via Gym Badges and/or CertificatesYour number of gym badges and/or certificates determines which items you can use during battle. This not only cuts down on things to buy and track for each character, but it also rewards completing challenges and exploring the world and your characters! You can combine badges and certificates for these items. For example, if you have three badges and five certificates, you unlock the max revive. Items from Badges and/or Certificates:One or more badges/certificates:- You have a badge/certificate! (Potions are for everyone to use).
Two or more:- Antidote
