She sipped the hot coffee, grateful one of the cafes nearby was open so early in the morning. Actually, it wasn't even really morning to her. It was more like.... late night? Eh, it was around 3 am. The whole night had been wandering here to Sylvanport on old trade routes. Not that they were old to Mya, she knew exactly where she was and how to get around. The benefits of growing up with traders.Eon was passed out beside her, snoozing away. In her lap was Fuji. He had become very snugly since Mya had caught him. At first he was rather bitchy, but now? A total lap pokemon. And Járnsaxa was.... up. She was looking out across the city from the vantage point they had. It wasn't a big vantage point, just one of the elevated streets looking down on the ones below. Mya had seen about 3 cars in the past thirty minutes. The quiet was nice. Mya took in a breath and sighed. They wouldn't say no to company, though. The cool air was perfect even with her jacket draped over her shoulders, plus Járnsaxa wasn't really one for conversation yet. She seemed more focus on sniffing out dirt and was no pouting there wasn't really any around. Ah well. They'd go back to the wilds later and let her eat her fill.
As much as Mya wanted to go to sleep, she didn't have enough money for a hotel room and she didn't know the area well enough to sleep on the streets. So staying awake it was. Besides getting her pokemon some food was more important. They had all had some good dinner, but that only left Mya with hardly enough for coffee. At least the barista took some pity.
Oh well. Nothing Mya wasn't used to.

Stress seemed to be lining Farrah's eyes as they stared at the tablet they were holding blearily as they walked. It was paperwork - a surprising amount of it, considering there wasn't any grounds yet for the thing they were filling out. Between some music calls and then working with finances all evening, Farrah just hadn't had time to get through all the paperwork for Yew yet. The business work had made them feel stir-crazy enough that they needed to get out, though. So at 3 am, here they were wandering the streets of their city. It was safer, at least, with their Pokemon - but by Yveltal, they needed some coffee or they were going to actually combust and die on the spot.
A sharp bark and a hard pressure on Farrah's legs stopped them from walking, and they made an incomprehensible noise of confusion as they paused and blinked, coming out of their mental fugue. They inhaled sharply - oh. Farrah was about three inches from walking straight into a sign by a cafe door. Elegy had gotten between them and the object, and was looking up with an expression of concern. "...Ah." Bending over, they scratched behind the dog's ear affectionately, and he grumbled, pleased at the touch. "Thanks pup. Good boy." They also turned their attention when Decibel pulled at their bootstraps, scratching him under the chin. He pulled back though, gesturing with his head up towards the cafe and staring at Farrah until they realized.
"Oh, you're right, aren't'cha kid? Perfect timing - was just thinkin' the same thing. Mosh, c'mere." They waited for the absolutely massive Seviper to catch up, and he coiled in front of his trainer, staring with cool eyes. "You pick somewhere you wanna sit for a bit, okay? Behave. No biting. I know you aren't much for socializing but you'll get a treat out of it, right?"
The Seviper let out a thoughtful hiss, tongue flickering between his long fangs, before finally nodding. Smiling, placated, Farrah opened the door and let their three Pokemon in before entering themselves. Seemed like it wasn't totally empty here though - there was another trainer there, too, with their own Pokemon. That was fine - Farrah didn't mind if there were others, though Mosh might. As they approached the counter to order, they snapped sharply, pointing at their feet. Dutifully, Decibel grumbled and meandered over, nearly sitting on Farrah's foot looking put-out. He had a habit of investigating other people and their Pokemon - something Farrah wasn't sure was so wanted at this late in the evening.
The other two Pokemon were left to free-roam. Elegy didn't go far - sniffed curiously at the other three Pokemon he didn't know, but kept relatively to Farrah's side, just staring at them and the strange trainer casually. Mosh looked around the area before slowly sliding towards the other trainer's direction. He eyed the sleeping Bagon, and the Cyndaquil, before with a disinterested huff, coiling around the base of the table next to them, far too big to fit in a booth, chair, or otherwise.
As Farrah turned around, a cup of coffee in one hand and tray of small dishes for their Pokemon in the other, they took in the surroundings quietly, looking for Mosh. Instead, their eyes lit upon another Pokemon: the Larvitar. They inhaled sharply, glancing at the Pokemon's trainer. Lucky. A Larvitar - or another similar Pokemon - were currently in Farrah's cross-hairs for Pokemon-hunting. This trainer was incredibly lucky to have found one... Farrah could almost say they were jealous.
They approached the table Mosh was at, setting the dishes down for their Pokemon before setting down themselves with a sigh. The tablet made a reappearance, slid onto the table almost disdainfully as Farrah took a long sip of their coffee. Their eyes glanced up towards the cafe as a whole again, before slowly settling on the trainer sitting at the next table. "That Larvitar yours?" They inquired, voice politely low. "Gorgeous Pokemon. Extremely lucky find, too." They raised their cup in greeting.

That was... a big snake. Mya sipped her coffee with a raised eyebrow before going back to staring out the window. Pokemon were pretty strange creatures, huh? Fuji stretched out and gave a small yawn, rolling over onto his back in Mya's lap and happily accepting the belly rubs. Járnsaxa, on the other hand, took note of the snake and kept her eyes on it. Then her gaze moved towards the dog. She didn't know if these pokemon were a potential threat, but a quick look up at Mya told here there was no need to have any fear. Járnsaxa relaxed a bit, letting out a sigh. Everything was fine...Mya was somewhere else as she stared out the window, watching a few cars go by and the sky slowly beginning to lighten, but the stars were still sparkling. Even then, Mya saw some clouds in the distance. The next morning might bring some rain... She perked up when the other person spoke. It took her a second to catch up to the question, glancing down at Járnsaxa. The larvitar was now staring at the other trainer curiously.
"Hm? Oh, yeah. I found her eating dirt in the Maw." Mya put down her coffee cup and reached down to give a gentle scritch to Járnsaxa's head. "I think she's neat. Her name's Járnsaxa." Mya took a chance to take the stranger in now. There was just something... familiar about that voice. Yeah... you add some more punk-like clothes and some make-up and. "Huh," she said. "You're Strum. Cool, I guess. They play your music all the time back at the sweatshops." She sipped her coffee, wishing she had the hindsight to take one of those board jobs for a bit more cash. That food the stranger had smelled delicious. Oh well. Her pokemon had already eaten. Mya would be fine on coffee.
She motioned to the tablet. "Working on like... I don't know, music or something?" Mya knew nothing about the industry. At all. She didn't have time for idols, but even famous people were people. Can't fault them for using their talents to make a living, ya know? If only fighting had kept up as a sport, Mya would probably try to become the region's boxer. Oh well. Either way, she didn't want to be rude and ignore this person, they seemed pretty chill. "I like your snake. And your dog. And that... fuzzy thing, the panda." She pointed to the zigzagoon. Mya knew nothing of pokemon. Except the ones she had caught or met. C'est la vie!

"Hmm," Farrah nodded at the other trainer. In the Maw, huh? They made a mental note to go out on exploration there. The Maw was dangerous... but then, thought Farrah with mild amusement, so were they. It would be fine, probably. And if there was the actual worry of it being too dangerous... eh. They'd deal with it one way or another. "Járnsaxa, eh? A lovely name indeed."
Farrah took another sip of their coffee, leaning back in their seat for a moment to simply watch their trio of Pokemon scarf down their snacks with half-lidded eyes. Their gaze shot back over to the other trainer though, an eyebrow raised as they heard their stage name. Oh. They hadn't quite expected to be recognized. They were preparing to put on a friendlier smile for a fan - a shame, considering how late it was; they hadn't really expected to meet anyone at this hour - when she brushed it off entirely without issue. Huh. That was... refreshing, actually? Nice. Farrah hummed noncommittally in response. "Yeeaahh that'd be me, heh. That's cool." It was always neat to hear where their music actually ended up playing or being heard? Imagining it being played over the radio in stores or lil' ma and pa shops was like... a little reminder that yeah, Farrah did make it up the ladder on their own accord, without anyone to rely on.
"Oh, this?" Farrah glanced down at the tablet, before shaking their head with a soft laugh. "No, no music tonight, I'm afraid. I mean, sure, but ah... no. This..." they looked down at the paperwork for a long moment. The team registration page stared back, taunting... mocking. They paused, derailing for a moment as the other trainer complimented their Pokemon. Elegy looked up as he realized he was being talked about, shuffling closer and sniffing at Mya, his little stubby tail waggling. Mosh seemed content to ignore both humans, intent on cleaning his fangs after his treat.
Decibel, on the other hand, looked put off. He leveled Mya with an unimpressed, pseudo-offended look, and then turned on Farrah with a betrayed expression when his trainer bit back a laugh behind their hand. They patted their leg until he walked over, sulking, and then Farrah picked him up, depositing the unsettled Zigzagoon in their lap. "This fella's Decibel. He's a Galarian Zigzagoon, and yes, you are a fuzzy lil' panda, ain't ya bud?" Decibel did not look pleased about the affection he was getting anymore, which only sparked mischief in Farrah's eyes. "That lil' pup's Elegy the Houndour, and Mr. Grumpy over there is Mosh, a Seviper. Yours are damn neat, too. Járnsaxa of course - but these two sleepy lil' ones."
They made a noise of remembrance, though, and gestured back towards the tablet. "But alas, to answer - it isn't music. It's ah... League paperwork. As in... the Pokemon League." They watched Mya carefully, gauging for a reaction. Farrah's eyes narrowed a second later though, as something else the trainer had said just registered fully in their head. It felt like a rock was dropped in their gut, unsettling and cold. "...I'm sorry. Where did you say they were playing my music?"

Mya smiled at Elegy as he approached a bit. She offered her hand slowly and said, "Whose a good puppy? You are! You are!" he was adorable, that much was for certain. She looked back up at Decibel, though. She took special note of him. "I like him. Those colors are pretty cool. He looks like he'd be tough in a fight. Maybe him and Eon can battle one day." She looked back at Eon. He was still fast asleep, still shedding scales. It seemed to keep getting worse and worse. Oh, well. "That's Eon, a bagon. And this little cutie here," she said, scratching Fuji's belly, "is a cyndaquil named Fuji. I found him in the Maw too. He's like a little fire mouse or something."
She thought on Farrah's next words. "The... league? What's that? Like... some sort of trainer union or something? Watch out for union busters, they'll get ya. But good on you, I guess. Didn't know trainers needed a union. Didn't know it was a business." Did she seriously misunderstand what the league was? Yes. But in her defense, Mya didn't really ever learn about pokemon or the culture around them. There wasn't time or the resource to. She still had questions about even Eon, and she had him for a while. She didn't even know what he would evolve into.
Her thoughts stopped at Farrah's next question. Hm? Oh. She raised an eyebrow, watching the other with a careful gaze. "A sweatshop. You know, where like, 90% of everything in Deprin is made? Like... that tablet, actually. Those are made in the east end sweatshops back in Famine. Like... most of the city works in 'em." Did... did this person really not know what sweatshops are. Oh, well, not everyone really thought about sweatshops being in Deprin. Most never even cared. You only really thought about it if you lived in Famine. "But, yeah, they play your music in 'em. That's where I heard it. I never really could afford a cd player or anything so," she shrugged, "I sat outside the sweatshops and listened." And then ran off when the wardens of said shops told Mya to either get to work or stop hanging around there. She was lucky enough to never have to work in one. Thanks, mom and dad!

Sniffing at Mya's hand for a bit, Elegy's tail quickly went more and more wild before he pushed his nose into her hand, licking the offered fingers excitedly. She smelled nice, like a trainer-person. And maybe he'd get pets doing this? Being top dog and getting all the affection was one of the nicest perks of being part of this ragtag pack. Farrah smiled at the sight, before rubbing Decibel's cheeks and scruff, watching as the Zigzagoon slowly relaxed under the administrations. "He's my good boy alright. Dec and I've been together for, oh... years now, I s'pose? If you count time before the... well. You'd be right, though. Lil' fella's a scrapper that doesn't know how to back down from a fight. He'd probably enjoy that battle." They looked towards Mya's Pokemon again in turn, raising their brow slightly at the sight of this Eon. Poor fella looked... well he didn't seem unhealthy, but the serious lack of scales didn't look great either. Fuji looked fine, though - happy lil' guy, wasn't he? "Heh, yeah, cutie's a good word for 'im. Must be a tough one too, comin' from the Maw. Bagon... can't say I've heard of it. He uh - I mean no offense, in the slightest - but is he... okay?"
Farrah paused and tilted their head to the side at Mya's description of the League. "Mmmm... not quite a business. S'pose you could say it's a union, though." Farrah huffed, a bit bitter. "Or at least, could call me the union. Or maybe I'm the union-buster goin' after the big wigs thinkin' they can get their damn dirty claws in it." They shook their head and blinked away the irritation. "Eh, sorry. No, the League's like... I suppose a trainer's union isn't too far off. At it's basic, it's a competition of strength. You fight, you win, earn a badge and increase your standing, and then you keep fightin' till you've reached the top or you can't keep goin'. But at its core it's the culture of Pokemon. Everything used to be built around the League. Everything." Farrah gestured widely. "Rebuildin' the league brings so much life back. New jobs, security, stability and safety... The leaders are the forefront of their areas. They're respected. Can make a change. Ahhh..." Farrah cut themselves off and waved a hand idly. Best to stop before they got too caught up in some of their more... grandiose ideals. "Anyway. My plan's to get it restarted again and done right. Use it to help people get back on their feet. Or at least try."
Farrah shook their head with a quiet, bitter look at the description of the sweatshops, the brightness in their eyes from the League dying out into something more simmering and angry. So they were all up in Famine, huh? "No, no I unfortunately am well aware of what they are, I just..." Well. Farrah couldn't exactly say what they were really thinking: That they'd shut down the shops that their family had hands in a few years back in an attempt to create better jobs with working wages instead, but were beginning to think perhaps they really hadn't done much at all. "Just didn't realize how bad it'd gotten, I suppose, which is ignorant of itself. Pisses me off. People need livable wages, not to be treated like expendable indentured servants. I don't like my music bein' used like the metaphorical whip I guess. Though if it helps keep folks survivin' day to day... but still." It was the exact thing that Farrah was fighting against with the League. The rich and nasty had their hands in everything else. Not this too. The League would set things right and give the working people a leg up and a platform to stand on if Farrah had anything to say about it.

She scratches Elegy's ears gently, smiling at the puppy. Aww, how cute. She loved this little guy, with his little skull and bones on him. Although, Mya was soon distracted at the question towards Eon. She looked towards her dragon and took off one of his many shedding scales. He didn't even stir from that. Still fast asleep. "Yeaaaaaaaah. I think so? I mean, I was worried but he doesn't seem to be in any pain. I think he's like... hitting dragon puberty or something?" She honestly had no fucking idea. "He used to be really small and stuff, could hardly walk without falling over cause of his big ol' head but like, now he's just like.... fine? I guess? I'll be honest, man, I don't have a fucking clue. When I went to the lab, all I was told is he's a rare pokemon or something? Fuck if I know." Mya cared about him, of course but... he seemed fine? "He's just really itchy."
She offered the scale. "Want a scale? They're surprisingly resilient. I used one a while ago to bust off a wheel lock from someone's car." Did she have an issue stating she knew how to do that? Not at all. Fucking cops and their fucking wheel locks.
Mya took another sip of her coffee while listening to Farrah explain the league and gyms. Jobs? More opportunities for people? Being able to make change? Mya stared off in front of her for a moment... thinking. "Change, huh? I wouldn't mind opening something like that in my hometown then. Be able to shut down those shops and give people good, honest work." Could Mya even do that? She gave a snort. "If only I wasn't poor as fuck, maybe I could do it too. Ah, well."
Interesting, though. This person seemed pretty upset, just going by general tone and facial expressions. It was refreshing to see someone actually care about Famine's state of being. It wasn't common. A lot of people preferring to pretend Famine didn't even exist. "Well... guess the only thing that can be done is getting that league thing you are working on set up, hm? Then you could help make change there. Let me know if you need someone to help out. I have literally nothing going on." It was true. She just kinda.. wandered around.

Ohh, now this was the good stuff. Elegy sat down by Mya's side, more than pleased to continue getting this affection. The ears were a good spot, hell yeah - his little back foot paddled against the ground happily. The sight made Farrah hide a quick smile behind a sip of coffee. They nodded at the mention of the Bagon being fine. "Itchy's better than pain, at least.... heh - dragon puberty, eh?" A dragon type? So this was a formidable trainer in the making, comparing that with a Larvitar... not a dragon type, but still evolved into a ferocious lizard. Interesting; Farrah's interest was piqued. "The lab didn't give you any information on him?"
Appreciatively, Farrah took the scale, giving a nod to Mya before slipping it into a pocket. "Sure, thanks. You never know when you're going to need to bust into somethin'. A versatile tool is a versatile tool, no?" Like breaking the lock into your own apartment because you forgot your keys again and didn't have a bobby-pin that time to pick the tumblers. Or cracking open a padlock or chain into a Salve Co. or Winthrop construction area, because of ... anyway.
"I agree entirely. A gym opening up in Famine could really be of benefit. Get those fuckin' things out of there. Bring construction, infrastructure, other stores n' centers openin' up..." They nodded along, but at Mya's continued sentences, an eyebrow raised incredulously. "So what if you're poor as fuck? The lab's got funding set aside for the League, from what Yew discussed with me. Things are set in place to set the foundations for that exact kinda reason. The only stipulation's more the actual Pokemon requirements for the leaders themselves." Plus funding from Salve Co, but Farrah was prepared to match that or at least fight to keep things above board. But they didn't need to spout off their dislike for the big corps of Deprin all over.
"But you're right. It's a huge step forward, gettin' the legislature underway. Once you've got the struts you can lay the rails as it were, y'know? I'll be sure to keep you in mind. You seem like a kid with your head on straight, and I can respect that. 'S the kind of folks we need in the League. I imagine it's gonna be a pain, but... it'll be worth it, in the end." And none of Farrah's pokemon were popping off. Elegy had proven pretty damn quick to be very wary on who he trusted, and extremely wary of anyone who didn't smell right. And if Elegy didn't like someone, Decibel tended to get his hackles up. Mosh... just didn't like anyone - but they could trust their boys to tell them if someone wasn't the right kind of folk immediately.

Mya continued to scratch Elegy's ears while also petting Fuji. if she stopped petting the little cyndaquil, he would become upset and make a scene. He was such a spoiled little brat but she loved him anyway. She hummed though. "Not really? I was told he's a bagon, that he's a rather rare pokemon and.... that's it. Nothing else, to be honest." Mya glanced at Eon. Most of what she knew about him was from traveling with him and taking care of him. But there wasn't a cause for concern yet.She raised an eyebrow at the talk of funding. Really? Huh. "Then I'll have to look more into it for sure. I mean, I need to train Járnsaxa but Eon here is getting up there in power so, you know. Maybe I'll have a shot." A gym in Famine... it would really turn around a lot of lives. Not to mention the tourism money. Mya could just imagine it... Famine being a place people wanted to go to and a place that wasn't spoken of in contempt or laughed about. It would be nice, to see her hometown actually become something. Járnsaxa even seemed interested in the idea. She looked up at Mya and made a sort of snorting chirp noise at her. She was more than interested in the idea of battling challengers. And in becoming stronger. Mya did take the compliment, but with a grain of salt. After all, Mya didn't know this person but they seemed pretty chill. Seemed to have some good thoughts and some nice pokemon. This puppy sure was sweet after all. Mya had never stopped lavishing him in attention and cooing at him softly. What a sweet dog! Although, with the talk of gyms and pokemon, Mya didn't think Fuji would be a proper gym pokemon. Maybe she needed something else? She didn't know what though. Larvitar wasn't a dragon type but they looked kinda like a dragon. Hmm... "So, how are you going to be finding these league people? Sounds like you plan to start some sort of recruiting system or something." It was polite conversation and Mya was only halfway through her coffee. Why not keep it going?

Farrah seemed to be amused watching Mya petting both fire types at the same time as they leaned back in their chair. Decibel got comfortable in their lap, curling up and closing his eyes with a quiet pleased huff of air. At their feet they could feel the sharp blade of Mosh's tail pull slowly across the back of their calf, but a glance down showed the Seviper only getting himself more comfortable in a loose coil. "I'm... rather surprised that Yew didn't tell you more than that, actually." After being... mildly unecessarily explained on how or where to catch the Pokemon that was Farrah's own preferred type, hearing that the lab hadn't said much of anything at all was a bit of a surprise. There was a sharp sudden hiss of breath from Mosh, as if the Seviper could hear Farrah's thoughts and had reacted accordingly.
"Yeah. I can let Yew know ahead of time if you want; I doubt just dropping in would be an issue though, that being said. It's what I did," they said. They'd gotten lucky they supposed, to have hopped in during a day that was relatively non-busy. But what worked, worked. "You never know unless you give it a try though, right?"
They took the moment with the lull in conversation to simply observe the other trainer and her Pokemon. Farrah could see this kid being a formidable opponent were she to really knuckle down with those kinds. And with more dragons added to the repertoire... she could really go all the way. The bagon might be a nightmare; Farrah hoped the little dragon was alright, though, with the shedding issue. Decibel shed a decent bit, but for a thick furred animal that seemed normal. For a lizard to be shedding in that quantity... was it normal? They watched Elegy soak up the attention as they dug their fingers deep into Decibel's fur. The Zigzagoon made a happy little grunt as he wiggled around comfortably. Elegy looked up at the noise, tail still wiggling but his ears perked up in curiosity. Yeah he was a good puppy, that was darned right, he was the best puppy -- Oh! Other pack-member was getting attention. He wanted attention! Wait.... no, he was getting attention. But he wanted lap! He gave Decibel a sour look which was ignored. Lap hog.
"Mmm... that's a good question, actually." Farrah thought about it, taking a sip of their coffee. "I'm not entirely sure, if I'm honest. I don't think a recruitment system on a large-scale of any kind is gonna have the kind of results I want to see. That... no offense to the trainers out there - but that would pull in folks of any inclination. The League ought to be those of good disposition n' motives." What kind of thing would be a good way to find those good people though...? She had a point. Farrah couldn't rely entirely on just late night coffee binges. But a good way to get to know someone now, Farrah had learned, was through their Pokemon. And especially through battles. An idea started forming in their mind. "...Though, y'know... with all the talk of revitalizin' communities it makes me think. There's been some new places openin' with the return of other berries and agriculture, as early as it is. And some of my favorite places to play music are in lil' holes in the wall like that. Combine those two things and Pokemon battles..." Farrah raised their eyebrows and looked to the other trainer. "A small-scale battle competition ain't a half bad way to get a gauge on folks."

Eh, she shrugged. Mya never expected anything from anyone. But at least Yew did give her a phone free of charge. Not that Mya knew anything about it. She did download a phone game tho. It was placing blocks on other blocks, it was pretty fun. But still... "Nah, I'll wait till it's set up. I want a stronger team before then anyway. Eon is getting up there but Jarnsaxa is still a baby, ya know? She needs to work out some." It was true, Mya needed a more balanced team. Not really in types, but in terms of strength. Eon was carrying them all now.She did raise her eyebrow in interest. So, this famous musician was thinking of the types of people that would have positions of power? That was... refreshing, actually. It was nice to hear someone with some pull actually cared about who ran stuff. Maybe some good change could come out of this league thing, then. "A competition sounds fun. I'd be very interested in taking part in that, actually. If you'd have me." Mya took out her phone, having to stop petting Fuji and Elegy for it. Fuji gave a huff as his back spouted with flames. Mya just picked him up and put him on the table, patting off some embers on her clothes like it was nothing. "Mind if I have your number? You can let me know when it takes place, ya know?"
Eon had only taken part in one actual battle against another trainer, and several wild battles, but he needed more experience, really. As well as Jarnsaxa. It'd be important for her to learn how to actually fight. Fuji was.... Fuji was for snuggles and nothing more.

Farrah took a moment to appraise Mya's pokemon again - particularly the Larvitar. Yeah... they could see what the other trainer meant. The Bagon was a pretty big little beast, even if he was shedding like nobody's business. But the Larvitar... she really was just a little thing. Looked cute, untested. Had plenty of room to grow. Farrah nodded in response. "Yeah. I see what you mean; sometimes preparation's good. Don't wanna throw a lil' tiny thing straight into a fight that she ain't prepared for." That was intelligent thinking on Mya's part.
"Yeah, of course! I can't imagine it not bein' open to anyone who wants to drop by." They watched as the other trainer placed the Cyndaquil on the table. Elegy grumbled as his pets went away, so he shuffled over to where Farrah was, placing his head on their lap and asking for affection from that angle instead. As if on instinct, they reached down a hand to rub the skull on the Houndour's head with some heavy pressure. He'd seemed to really like that before, and as predicted his back foot started thumping on the ground. The other hand, they held out towards Mya to take her phone so they could enter their number. "Sure thing, I'll go ahead and input it if y'like. Ah," they blinked in realization. "My real name's Farrah, by the way. So you know who the contact is. I... don't believe I actually caught your name, come to think of it."
They could feel Decibel's unimpressed stare as they said it. As if judging Farrah for not at least asking for someone's name politely... it wasn't Farrah's fault! Usually they were so used to fans recognizing and introducing themselves it wasn't much of an issue. And it wasn't like they had many friends to actually make acquaintance and introduce properly to.

Mya handed her phone over and thought for a second, staring off at nothing before making a soft 'ah'. "Oh, shit, right, sorry. Totally forgot that. I'm Mya, but you can call me Rainbow. It's kinda a nickname back where I'm from." Part of it was from the rainbow bracelet and belt loop Mya wore. The other part of it was the fact that, when she was younger and her parents saved up so much money to get her the hand-woven bracelet from Summerhill on a trip, Mya had faced ridicule back home for it. Before long, the ridicule stopped and was replaced with whispers of "the last thing you'll see is a rainbow before getting your lights punched out".The nickname kinda stuck. She leaned back in her chair, letting Fuji crawl back into her lap with a huff and curling back up to sleep. "Ya know, I used to think you would be some sort of stuck up rich person that'd get pissed if anyone below you spoke to you," she said. "I'm really glad to see I was wrong. You seem like a good person. We need more people like you out there, people with some form of influence, helping out folks, thinking about the little guy."
"It's refreshing, almost, to meet someone with a good head and a good attitude." Mya shrugged though. "Anyway, you can expect to see me at that battle challenge. Maybe by then Járnsaxa here will be stronger and able to participate. I think she'd have fun. Eon...." she looked at the still sleeping dragon, "he might have to sit out." She didn't want to mention his growing aggression. She could control it just fine, but it was still worrying. Plus, maybe putting in a very angry and aggressive dragon type into a battle wasn't really fair? Depending on the strength of the other participants. But Járnsaxa was a different story. Mya slummed down in her chair and looked back out at the city, the sun was starting to come up. Ugh, they still needed to figure out sleeping arrangements. Maybe they'd just camp out of the city somewhere. Járnsaxa was still watching Farrah, however. Not in a rude way or in a way that would spark concern, but in a curious way. This person looked like they would become a formidable opponent. She then glanced at the trainer's team. Hmm.... no, she wasn't strong enough yet to battle any of them. But one day... one day she would be.

"Rainbow, eh?" Farrah glanced at Mya as they input their contact info into the phone. They nodded as they handed the phone back. "I like it. I'll be sure to remember that." Farrah understood the idea of nicknames far different to the norm. They had a couple nicknames people called them as well - though... it was perhaps more accurate to say that wasn't true anymore. Strum itself was a double entendre: Strum, as in to strum a guitar, and Strum, as in a shortening of Farrah's middle name, Strumold. Farrah thought it was clever, and it worked, so.
The musician laughed mildly, shaking their head as they downed the rest of their coffee. "I get that. No, I'm fortunately just another person like everyone else. I love music; I do not love the rich elitists that exist to make everyone else's day to day just that bit much harder," they said. "Anythin' I can do to help those who need it most is my goal. But I'm glad to hear it. Means I'm doin' my job right." And it really always was nice to see folks see Farrah past the stage exterior - they might have their own skeletons in the closet, but where it really mattered, Farrah's heart absolutely belonged to the people. Especially the people who needed them most.
"I couldn't agree more. There's too many out there who're just in it for themselves and nobody else." Farrah shook their head with a disappointed sigh before smiling. "I look forward to seein' you there. I'm sure your lil' Larvitar's gonna be an absolute force to be reckoned with when the time comes." They glanced towards the sleeping Bagon. Farrah... could see why he might sit out. They wouldn't question that decision. Instead, they simply nodded in understanding. Elegy finally settled down, resting his head on his paws with a little whiny yawn. The musician took the lull and the action to retrieve their tablet again and finish the paperwork off with a vaguely delicate signature. And... there. It was done. Sent off in an email to Yew to be processed, and then plans would have to be made.
They ran a tired hand through their hair, pushing the fallen locks out of their green eyes with a relieved sigh. That was another thing they needed to do done. Now it was just a team meeting with the crew in the morning, and work as usual. Their gaze shifted out towards the rising sun and they felt themselves biting back a yawn, before they realized the Larvitar was still watching them. Decibel was watching back, his bright pink eyes peeking over Farrah's knee. The musician offered the little Pokemon a gentle smile. "Out of curiosity..." Farrah glanced towards Mya out of the corner of their eye. "Do you happen to be staying somewhere while you're in town?"

It was good to meet someone that was famous with a good attitude. But Mya wouldn't forget the potential power Farrah had on em. If only because it meant Farrah had some pull in the world and that was important, but at least it was being used to good and entertainment, hm? But even then.... eh, there were other things to be thinking about anyway."Yeah, I kinda can't wait for Járnsaxa here to battle more. She seems to have a real desire to fight." She just wanted to be strong, Mya was sure about that. The little lizard was always trying to spar against Eon and gain in strength but actual battles were totally different than sparring against a team member. Eon would hold back his strength for her, but other opponents wouldn't. The next question caught Mya off guard and had her gaze from the window drawn back towards Farrah. Hm. She took a moment to look at Farrah again, as if considering something and judging them on some level before finally coming to a conclusion as Mya gave a lazy shrug. "Nope. Was debating on finding some dry alley to sleep in or heading out of town to camp. But I don't know the city well enough to know the safe spaces for squatters. Not many hobo marks on the walls, ya know?" She wasn't ashamed of it. It was a fact of life for some people, Mya had just grown used to it. Even with pokemon now, getting money for things was difficult. Mya knew she'd be hungry as hell in a few hours, but as long as her pokemon were fed that was all she cared about. Besides, pokemon centers just had this... attitude about them towards people like Mya. It felt like she wasn't really welcomed. Her pokemon would be cared for and that was great but Mya didn't like the attitude of some of the nurses. "But that's fine. I've camped plenty of times before. Nothing new." Mya leaned back in her chair and idly pet Fuji's back. Funny how pokemon didn't seem to recognize human struggles. What was the difference between the wild and a building?
