This is the first of many mountains we're climbing over the next few years. Want some food to pay for our passage?" Kain lowers his bag, pulling some treats out of his bag. Torchic scrabbles up a rock that gives him a height advantage over Nidoran. "Don't get in our way! First this mountain, then the League, then the world! I will climb everything and rain fire down on my enemies!!" Kain watches Torchic give his impassioned speech, before chuckling softly. "I'm not entirely sure what Torchic said was pleasant, but here, have some treats." (OOC - Kain offers Nidoran some treats)

Thought it was some kind of tough bird, did Torchic? Well ... Nidoran liked that fire and ferocity! Yeah, bro, shoot for the moon! Even if you miss, you'll have mad wing muscles from flying all the way up there. Or something. Taking the treat, Nidoran bowed its head respectfully to Torchic and Kain, moving aside to let them pass. Not only did it like Torchic's ambition -- it also appreciated Kain's politeness. Offering a treat in exchange for passage through Nidoran's territory had been exactly the right thing to do. Overall, Nidoran was quite impressed with these two -- so impressed, in fact, that it didn't want to see them leave just yet, and started to follow them. "Do you want to come with us? I can't promise you'll ever come back home, but I can promise you'll be one of the strongest Nidokings in the entire region. Torchic and I are going to become the Champions of this region and make sure Pokemon never have to worry about going extinct again. If you want to be a part of our journey, we will gladly accept your help." He sets a Safari Ball in between him and Nidoran. Torchic, just in case, scrabbles to a position that gives him a height advantage over Nidoran again. (OOC- Kain attempts a catch!)

Everything else was just icing on the cake -- not that Nidoran didn't like the idea of becoming the region's strongest Nidoking and making sure Pokemon never vanished again. He looks over at Torchic, then points towards the Hidden Lair. "Almost there! After that we can hit the beach and then go home. Does that sound good to you, little man?" Torchic scrabbles over the rocks towards the lair. He heard a rumor that there might be dragons there. Dragons can breathe fire! Maybe he'll find a fire dragon! Then they would be unstoppable! "Race you to the caaave!!!" Torchic bolts down into the Hidden Lair, closely followed by his trainer. Kain keeps an eye open for hidden passages, not wanting to get ambushed by anything. (OOC- Area transition to the Hidden Lair!)

The Safari Zone

Running headlong into the Lair wasn't the best idea, as Torchic soon discovered when he tumbled into a sandy pit not far beyond the entrance to the cave system. At the bottom of the pit, a pair of large, powerful jaws waited ... But Trapinch was well-fed, and more curious about the new arrival than aggressive. Oh, it knew it was supposed to attack Pokemon that fell into its pit, but that seemed so mean! And it had never seen a Torchic before -- it wanted to know where he was from, how he'd ended up here. So instead of attacking, Trapinch popped out of the sand with an inquiring "Inch?"

A wild Trapinch appears! You have 3 actions before you must either attempt a capture or move on.

Do you want us to help fix your pit? We did mess it up a little after all." Torchic grumbles at the Trapinch. "Last time I met one of your kind he tried to EAT ME!! Are you gonna try to eat me?" Kain sets Torchic down and kneels to start repairing the damage down to Trapinch's hunting pit. He sets some treats at the edge of the pit for Trapinch if she wants them. "Here, you can have some treats while I fix your pit. Does that sound good?" (OOC-Kain offers Trapinch some treats while he repairs her pit)

Trapinch could have repaired her own pit easily, but she watched the human's efforts to do so with interest, appreciating the sentiment behind them even if she privately thought that she could have done a much better job. And, of course, she appreciated the treat, even well-fed as she was. She always had room for treats! To Torchic, she shook her head with a vehement "Inch!" She wasn't going to eat him! It would be so rude of her to welcome him into her pit and then eat him. No, when she ate prey she always made it quick and relatively painless, so that they didn't even know what had happened to them. She thought that was merciful.
