Professor Yew time: morning weather: clear participants: Professor Victoria Yew, Sebastian Aldenberg, Dew (modding) battles: none"Sebastian!" The professor spotted the researcher in the crowd of volunteers gathered to hear Takara's speech and thought he looked a little lost. She had meant to go talk to Takara, but now she changed course. She could talk to Takara anytime -- well, not anytime; they had a very busy schedule. Which was all the more reason for Yew to go after Sebastian instead: Takara probably had host things to do, things that they could not pull themself away from for a long chat about Pokemon. Sebastian, on the other hand ... "Hey, Sebastian, over here!"Coming up to Sebastian, she said, "It's been a while. Would you like to work together? I'd love to hear how your research is going. Maybe we could start on the grape trellises?"

Sebastian was rather excited to finally start farming, after all eating moss could only go for so long, and even more excited to hear the professor. He turned and smiled brightly, jogging over to meet her. "Hi, Professor Yew! I'd be happy to help!" Seemed almost like a child again with the excitement. Although with all the people she could tell he was already rather antsy to get away and readily nodded to her offer of going off to the grape trellises.
"I-I'd love to, I've been doing a lot of travelling recently." He started his way towards the grapes, or rather where they'd be, to get away from the majority of people. The only ones who'd be there would be the ones also working. And they'd probably not bother the two scientists very much. "B-But I've seen a lot, and the last time I'd visited the lab I wasn't able to check in w-with you on everything."

Time to Garden!
Upon arriving at the future grape orchard, there were several other groups focused on working. And there was a lot to be done! The whole area had to be weeded before anything could be grown, and that wasn't even mentioning the soil being tilled and a trellis being put up for the grades. But first thing first, the ground had to be properly freed from the weeds.
They were everywhere--quite literally. It was almost hard to believe that this whole land once supported a large orchard of delicious grapes for meals and wine. Well, no time like the present! Of course, people were allowed--and encouraged--to use their pokemon in non-destructive ways with a warning: no battling wild pokemon! You could capture them, sure, but being out here in the now wild land could result in some encounters! Best be on your guard. What will you do?

Professor Yew The professor smiled at Sebastian, glad that he wanted to talk. Though of course they'd have plenty of work to do as well. "I'd love to hear what you've seen. I haven't been able to get out of the Lab as much as I'd like lately -- I haven't even made it to the Safari Zone yet, though I've heard some great things about it."She made sure to spare some attention for the work in front of them, though, pausing for a moment to consider how each of her Pokemon could help. After thinking, she brought out Absol and Oddish. Absol's claws should be able to dig through the soil for weeds, and the professor knew Oddish loved to play in the dirt. "Absol, Oddish, we need to dig up these weeds, OK? There's a lot of them, so let's all work together."Absol nodded and got to work immediately -- this might not be a task she'd set her mind to before, but she could see that the professor wanted it to get done. Oddish, on the other hand ... she made a skeptical "Odd?" She didn't understand why they had to pull up the perfectly good weeds, which were just minding their own business. And she didn't even have hands! The professor sighed, sensing that Oddish objected even if she didn't entirely understand why. Maybe the Grass-type would do better when it was time to till or fertilize the soil ... Anyway, Yew told Oddish, "You can sit this one out if you prefer," and Oddish plopped down in a rather inconvenient spot to protest what she saw as the destruction of innocent plants. how can we claim to understand something we've never experienced?

A Wild Kricketot Appeared!
Please decide who will attempt to capture this pokemon. If there is no attempt, the encounter will end. Out of battle captures only.
Time to Garden!
As the team got to work with their pokemon on helping to clear the weeds, a curious wild pokemon took some interest in the oddish that was, apparently, boycotting this weeding. The kricketot hoped on over and watched the humans and pokemon, tilting her head while trying to understand why some of them were working but another was not. Wasn't the point of being with humans to help with them their tasks? Still, the kricketot didn't have much care for the general weeds, but she did live here! Were they trying to help spruce up her home?
Little did she know that Salve Co. was sure that bringing back the farms would help the wild pokemon by providing the shelter of plants and food for them to enjoy themselves. But as far as this little bug was concerned, they were on her property! What was the deal? What will you do?

Professor Yew Oddish noticed the Kricketot first and tottered over to her. "Oddiii," she said, explaining that the humans were removing perfectly good plants, and she didn't know why. The professor noticed the two Pokemon speaking, and for a moment she almost left them to it -- it would be nice for Oddish to make friends, and Yew wouldn't mind observing how wild and captured Pokemon interacted without human intervention. But then she realized how negative the Pokemon looked, and went over -- approaching slowly, to avoid scaring off Kricketot -- to explain to them: "We're removing the weeds because we want to clear and improve the soil. We're going to make it more fertile, so more plants can grow -- and different types of plants."She paused, then took a Pokeball out of her pocket and offered it to the wild Kricketot. "If you'd like to participate in this and other projects, you can join our team."
The professor attempts to capture the wild Kricketot! how can we claim to understand something we've never experienced?

Time to Garden!
Alas, the pokemon was not interested in this nonsense. While she understood the sentiment, she did not trust humans in any capacity. She eyed the professor with distrustful eyes and marched on away. She was upset but she knew better than to pick fights with humans that had pokemon on them! It would be awful if she ended up getting hurt or something else by the likes of a human.
They always took things by force, didn't they! The fields were fine as they were if people could just stop messing around with it all!
As the pokemon marched away, the duo was left to continue working the fields... there was still more weeding to do before the day was up!
What will you do?

Professor Yew The professor sighed and returned to weeding, a little disappointed that the wild Kricketot had rejected her. She would have liked to study the Pokemon's natural music, especially as it evolved into Kricketune. For a moment she imagined the symphonies such a Pokemon might have played by her side ... and then she moved on. No use wondering about what might have been -- and she couldn't blame the Pokemon for choosing not to uproot its life by coming with her. After all, she was already uprooting the plants in which it lived. She could only hope that the grape fields that would soon cover this place would provide an equally good home for the Kricketot.
The professor keeps weeding! how can we claim to understand something we've never experienced?

Time to Garden!
While weeding, the heavy roots of the weeds were getting harder and harder to pull up. After a few moments, and a good tug, one root came up and looked rather odd, having a strange air. Why, it was a rare Big Root! A special type of rare root beloved by certain types of pokemon.
The root was covered in dirt and had many separate parts sticking out every which way that had once provided nutrients to a large plant. But now it had an even greater purpose, perhaps being used by a pokemon in battle?
Would be interesting to study, no?
Looking at the field, the weeding was almost complete. It just needed a bit more work before the land was ready to be tilled!
What will you do?
You dug up a Big Root! Please add this item to your tracker!
