Name: Dr. Victoria Yew, PhD
Note: she rarely uses her first name, and prefers to be addressed as "Professor Yew" or "Professor"; "Dr. Yew" is also acceptable.
Age: 29
Gender: cis woman (she/her)
Hometown: Sunhaven (she now resides in Mistveil)
Appearance: 5'7", willowy build. Asian (in Earth terms). Olive skin, straight black hair -- long, but often tied back. Dark brown/black eyes. Long, oval face with a pointed chin. Looks younger than she is.
Personality:
The professor a serious, reticent type, but can turn very talkative if you get her talking about her interests -- and her overriding interest is, of course, Pokemon. Her focus tends to be on how to reintegrate Pokemon in to Deprin's society rather than on how they disappeared. She can be a bit dour, but she's also a compassionate soul who cares deeply about the suffering of others. However, she has a tendency to be defensive of her position and authority, as many of the Lab's staff have questioned appointing someone so young to such an important position.
While she does spend time in the Lab -- and most of her pre-return experience is sitting in front of a computer, analyzing Pokeball data -- she can often be found out and about around Deprin, studying Pokemon in the wild -- and catching one or two. She wants to live the life of a trainer, not just sit behind a desk.
History:
Professor Yew's official title is "Pokemon Laboratory Trainer Liaison." She's not the head of the Pokemon Laboratory, or even one of their top scientists; her role is to act as the primary contact between the Lab and the new generation of Pokemon trainers. She oversees the distribution of starter Pokemon, manages areas' requests for trainer aid, oversees the building of a new Pokemon League, and otherwise facilitates the re-establishment of a Pokemon trainer class in the Deprin Region.
While she was born and raised in Sunhaven, she came to Mistveil for college -- Mistveil boasts Deprin's biggest and best university, though it doesn't have that much competition, since most of the region has better things to do than study -- and, like many of Mistveil University's graduates, never left. She finished undergrad at 20, got her master's at 22, her PhD at 26, and has spent the last 3 years working her way up through the ranks of the Lab's staff at a feverish pace, showing herself deeply committed and considerably skilled.
