The ship came to shore roughly, the crew struggling to dock against the violent waves of one of Salve's common storms. Something about this area just drew bad weather. It wasn't enjoyable for anyone, except maybe some pokemon, but it was what it was. The rotting dock lead to the black sand of the island's beach, and in the distance was the forest and, even further, the building that had mysteriously exploded and burned. Or... pieces of it that were still standing that could just be glimpsed from over the treeline. Why Salve Co. had opened this island up--and provided the most expensive pokeballs on the market to people--was a mystery in and of itself but who knew what pokemon could be discovered on this strange island? It was a different kind of adventure for sure... A Wild Pokemon Appeared!

Grey sat with his back against the ship's starboard wall, firmly gripping the cold, metal leg of the table that was bolted to the ground. Mimicking her trainer's posture, with her elbows wrapped around her knees, Shade sat nearby, sliding a few feet left and right and back and forth, all at the volition of the waves. For hours, the violent storm tried to coax Grey's lunch out from his stomach, testing the willpower of the land dweller - it was only moments before he was about to concede that the voice of the ship's captain called for him to exit the cabin of the wretched ship and hop onto the sandy, black beach of Salve Island. Without a moment to waste, Grey got to his feet, stumbling with the slight rocking of the docked ship. "What, are you staying?" he sarcastically asked his partner, her behind still planted firmly on the ground of the ship. "You know, I'll leave without you." He walked confidently to the metal door of the cabin, so as to threaten Shade to come along. Finally opening the door, he turned back, only to see Shade standing behind him a mere foot away. "...You're terrifying," he stated bluntly, getting no response aside from a blank stare from his partner. Stepping foot onto the dock (and this time around, hearing the footsteps of Shade following close behind), Grey was relieved to be on stable, albeit creaky, ground. He looked around at the landscape, marveling at the height of the intense waves that washed up onto the black, sandy beach below him. Some distance separated the dock and a mass of trees beyond the beach, and even further beyond that lay a seemingly man-made construct. He knew then that he had some ground to cover in the time that he was allotted on the private island. Grey wasn't fond of the way that his foot sunk slightly into the sand. He found it coarse, rough, and irritating - and it felt as though it was getting everywhere. Shade, however, seemed to be fascinated with the fine rocks, stooping down to sift piles of it through her fingers and snickering. -------------- Sableye // Level 1 // Female Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10 | 14 | 14 | 10 |

The beach was a mess of heavy rain and the crashing waves that seemed to threaten the island's very structure. One day, they seemed to say, they would recede the beach's very shoreline and devour the island whole. Over the course of millions of years it would eat away at the black sands. And one pokemon in particular had the patience to watch it happen. On part of the black sand, a pink creature with a yellow head laid with its arms straight out on its sides, staring at the waves with a gaze that could only be described as... empty. As the ghost and the human began moving along the sand nearby, the slowpoke opened its mouth to let out a Sloooooooooooow...The deep, long tone of the pokemon's voice traveled across the beach and blended in with the crash of the waves, but still distinct enough to be heard. Not like the pink thing among the black sand was hard to miss. If the winds weren't as violent as they were, the slowpoke may have to be worried about bird pokemon preying upon it. Thankfully, the only danger here was literally everything else in existence. Life was good. A Wild Pokemon Appeared!

'Wait, it's... alive?' Grey thought to himself, turning towards the source of the long, drawn-out sound. In the near distance lay a bright pink and yellow mass that stood out like a sore thumb against the dark backdrop. When he saw it earlier, its complete stillness had him figure that he'd "get to it when he get's to it," but now that he knew that it wasn't just a windbreaker washed up on the sand, he accelerated his pace towards the Pokemon. He glanced back to confirm that Shade was still following him, but she hadn't seemed to notice the ever-growing distance between them, as she remained squatting on the sand, raking her fingers through the black surface. "Hey, Shade!" he projected back to her. At the sound of his voice, she turned her head and took a moment before taking a quick jog to catch up with her trainer. As Grey got closer, the nature of the Pokemon on the beach became more apparent to him. He'd heard of Slowpokes and their... odd tendencies before, but he'd never seen one in-person - much less such an odd looking one. The relaxed aloofness of the lazy Pokemon made Grey feel a sense of unease. Its colorful skin against the black sand seemed like an appropriate metaphorical comparison to its ignorant serenity among the raging wilds. Yet he had difficulty understanding how any living creature could be so dopey in the face of clear danger. To Grey, it's almost as if the Pokemon had conceded to its imminent destruction. Philosopher or otherwise, he determined that he was going to try to catch this Pokemon. "Hey there, bud!" he greeted the Slowbro, squatting down in front of it and slightly to the side, so as to not block its view of the sea. Shade scurried up and stood beside Grey, tuning in to his one-sided conversation. "You look like you're vibing over here! That's... cool." He paused, as if waiting for a response from the seemingly thoughtless Pokemon. ".........." Grey waited, blankly. He sat himself down comfortably on the ground with his legs crossed and stood his bag up between his legs. Shade stepped closer and peered over him while he rummaged through his bag for one of the luxury balls that had been provided to him for this excursion. "Ah, ha," he vocalized to fill the silence, pulling out one of the five balls. "Check this out! I hear these are pretty cozy too - I'd love to show you a couple other beaches that I think you'd love!" Once again, he waited for a response, but seemingly to no avail. 'Well, here goes nothing,' he thought. Still gripping the luxury ball, he tapped it against the Slowbro's side. ----------- Sableye // Level 1 // Female Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10 | 14 | 14 | 10 |

The slowpoke watched the human curiously, but with no real rush. Yes, the slowpoke heard everything that was said to him, but it could take a while for them to formulate thoughts... and then remember to respond. Some may see that as a fault of the pokemon's slow nature, but in reality, slow sometimes did win the race. After all, a slowpoke's tail could grow back after something ate it, became full, and then left the rest of the pokemon alone. Also the general lack of expending energy. When was the last time the slowpoke ate? He couldn't honestly remember... it was... an experiment, maybe. To see how long he could survive without food. It was months and months and months and... The slowpoke gave a slow blink, opening his mouth as if to speak before he closed it again and blinked again. What was the human saying? Something about beaches and something something comfy? Sounded nice! The slowpoke rolled a bit to the side as the ball tapped him and he was drawn inside into the luxury ball. Yeah, okay! It was adequate in here. Not as nice as sunbathing on a beach in the middle of a storm, but good enough! The slowpoke could get used to this... The ball clicked! Capture successful! A Wild Pokemon Appeared!

'Is every Pokemon gonna be that easy to capture?' Grey thought to himself. His grandparents had told him stories of epic Pokemon battles generations before in an effort to coax submission out of feral, monstrous Pokemon, but after that less-eventful encounter, he was left questioning the reality behind those tall tales. Shade gazed curiously at the occupied Pokeball before Grey tucked it back into his bag, being sure to store it below the vacant luxury balls so as to make them easiest to access. "Anyways, that's enough of the ocean, don't you think?" he asked the Sableye. Without a response, she took off inland at a mild pace. "Hey, you're supposed to be the one following me!" he shouted towards Shade, gradually gaining on her. As opposed to heading towards the small clearing in the dense forest, as Grey would have intuitively chosen, Shade was leading them towards a thick in the woods. As they entered between the trees, the canopy gradually blocked out more and more sunlight - Shade did always have a preference for the dark. ------------- Sableye // Level 1 // Female Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10 | 14 | 14 | 10 |

The forests were broken. Anyone could see it from first glance. Trees bent in half and splintered, large metal shards piercing the land, fallen wooden giants cut in half or horribly burned. The explosion seemed to have stopped around the middle of the woods itself, but the damage was heavy even out here towards the start of the woods from the beach. The deeper one went, the strange it seemed to get as well. And the more quiet. The quiet was perfect to perhaps one of the more timid of pokemon... an Abra. It appeared a short pace away, within the trees of the broken forest, holding a berry. The food was rare to come by in the forest, but it was slowly becoming easier. Yet the pokemon froze, eyes fixed on the ghost type and the human. Oh dear... Strangers in the woods... The Abra shyly floated back a ways, watching cautiously. They really didn't want to have to waste energy getting out of this situation... but on the other hand, they did love being alive./div] A Wild Pokemon Appeared!

The very brief density of the forest canopy was interrupted by rays of light a mere tens of feet ahead of Grey and Shade. The trees seemed gave way to - or rather, were split asunder for - remnants of violent, seemingly human activity. The damage was catastrophic. "What did you lead me to?" Grey asked his partner, unsure of the cataclysm's scope. He wondered if Shade was intentionally bringing him to this site of destruction or if her wandering had only happened to lead there. As he cleared the thickly wooded entrance to the forest, only scraps of what were once grand trees remained. The damage went on for as far as he could see, granted, that wasn't very far given that the heavy rains continued to obstruct his vision. "Were you bringing me here on purpose?" He asked, posing a new question to the Sableye. Her attention, however, wasn't on Grey. She had caught sight of something in the near distance, lurking between a handful of splintered trees. The sound of the waves dampened the further inland that the pair travelled, and by the time they were able to get a better look at the Pokemon, all sensory reminders of the ocean had vanished. As they neared the yellow floating Pokemon, one thing was clear: it had seen them far before they saw it. After closing the distance to about 25 feet, Grey noticed that the two never were able to get any closer to the now-identifiable Abra - at the same pace that they were approaching it, it would float away. Grey came to a stop, placing his hand on Shade's shoulder to gesture for her to pause her advance as well. "I think it's scared. Play nice, Shade," he requested of his partner. "I'm not sure if it's you as a ghost-dark type against their psychic that they're scared of, or me as a human..." he told her, scanning the large shards of metal wedged into the landscape, "but I don't see any reason to scare them off or make another enemy," Grey reasoned. "Hey there," he announced, trying to project his voice through the mild rain without being startlingly loud. "I'm sorry to interrupt your alone time, I got a bit lost here on the island. I don't know why I was brought here... do you know why I'm here? Do you know where Shade and I should go? If you know, can you lead me there or at least point me in that direction?" he asked the Abra, trying to establish a relationship of communication. He really didn't know why he was allowed on Salve Island, and he hoped that the resident could give him a tour. ------------- Sableye // Level 1 // Female Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10 | 14 | 14 | 10 |

The Abra watched and listened. It searched the human's mind, only finding truth in the words... okay then. There was no real danger. Not right now then. The pokemon floated forward a bit, still holding its meal. But the human's questions were loaded. That was the problem. The Abra had learned a long time ago that communicating with humans was hard for pokemon. Yes, pokemon could understand them and their intentions just fine. But humans to pokemon was this strange thing. The people in the coats didn't understand either. The Abra thought for a long time before giving a motion with one of their hands. A slow, deliberate motion before floating through the woods, taking the best-looking path for the human. It floated slowly and in silence. It was not a very talkative pokemon, but it could at least show the human what this place was like... maybe what it was before. It stopped at a clearing and pointed at one of the old cameras. The line had long since been cut, but a red light still flashed, like the camera had a back-up battery... not that the feed was going anyway. The Abra turned to look back at the human and his pokemon. Did they understand? Did they gather what the Abra needed to tell them? The island had eyes everywhere. A Wild Pokemon Appeared!

As the Abra floated away, Grey and Shade followed, closing the gap between them and the Pokemon slightly, but still keeping a reasonable distance - a distance out of range of Shade's brutal Scratch and any other funny business that their guide could view as a threat. Grey felt as though today was just full of him getting dragged from place to place outside of his own control, but he didn't mind all that much. His mind was more focused on the mystery of the sites that fate was bringing him to time and time again. Although the Abra's pointing only directed Grey's attention vaguely to the area of concern, a red flash quickly allowed him to hone in on what it was that the psychic type wanted him to see. Each blink shimmered faintly in Shade's gemstone eyes. "A camera." he said, thinking out loud. "I guess this was a private island, wasn't it. But is this here for security? Or were they... watching something? He observed the cut line that led out of the back. Grey's mind had went from curious investigation of the past to a sort of paranoia of the present. "If this place were still in operation, I'd think that they'd be maintaining these things. But still... are we still being watched?""How many of these are out there, line cut or not?" he poised rhetorically. His anxiety heightened and he felt a chill down the back of his neck, prompting a shudder. He averted his attention backwards, behind the vulnerable trio, checking for red lights or any other signs of another party's presence. "Or is there somebody else watching?"Questions, questions, questions. Mystery plagued Grey's mind and he felt himself succumbing to the uncomfortable atmosphere that had followed since the moment he stepped onto the ship: the violent storm, the out of place Slowpoke, the fragmented goliaths of trees that littered the landscape, and now cameras. He needed something to take the load off. Looking back at the Abra, he made a remark about its floating berry. "I guess it's lunch time, huh," he half-joked, opening up his messenger bag and removing a small, plastic container that rattled around when he pulled it out. Shade's head darted in his direction and she took a step towards her trainer. He took off the lid and scooped out a handful of small, colorful gems. "I guess you like berries? I wish I could offer you a little more to eat as a thanks for your help, but I only packed gemstones. They're Shade's favorite. She eats berries too, but I guess I spoil her a bit too much." Shade cupped her hands and accepted the pile of rocks from Grey, promptly chomping away at them while her trainer packed the container away. "Say, is there anywhere else on this island that you think I should see? Clearly you know this place better than I do," he asked, turning back towards the guide. Soon after, another idea crossed his mind: "Actually, would you want to keep travelling together even after I leave?" He pulled a luxury ball out of his bag. "Feel free to say no. I don't want to make you, and I won't ask again." "Either way, if you want to take me anywhere else on the island in the time that I'm here, I'll follow you; and if not, I can go my own way."------------------ Sableye // Level 1 // Female Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10 | 14 | 14 | 10 |

Abra understood the humans questions and concerns, even in his mind. Thus was the Abra's specialty after all. Thus the tricks he had to perform day in and day out. Reading minds, hooked up to hires, testing his abilities and limitations. It wasn't a good life, but it was something. Then he was let out and allowed to wander, ushered away from what they supposed was the blast area... and then boom... The cameras were still here, though. And the Abra wandered many times if someone was still watching. And if so, who? Why? The mystery was something he didn't really care about. But he knew some humans did. They were such fascinating things... The Abra watched with mild curiosity as the human fed the ghost. When they were both looking away, the Abra quickly ate its berry. Eating in front of people was weird... but eh... Yet the offer the human gave was something to ponder on. The Abra seemed to stare with his slit eyes as the luxury ball floated up and around him. He then began to float away, motioning for the human to follow again. The Abra led him and the ghost through the woods before getting to what looked like a worn path that was slightly grown over. The Abra pointed up the path... and then held out a hand as the ball fell into it, zapping the Abra inside. The ball landed on the ground and shook once... twice... and then it clicked... The Abra would agree to this partnership. If only because he appreciated the human's calm and polite nature. A Wild Pokemon Appeared!

Grey was pleased that the Abra had decided that he was a worthy companion. Before his Pokemon-catching journey had commenced, he had been concerned that he'd be a poor trainer - that he wouldn't live up to his great-great-great grandparents' names. But if the Abra and Slowpoke thought he was good enough, then maybe he was. Tucking Abra's luxury ball back into his back, Grey and Shade moved up the manmade path. Although the devastation in the woods was mysterious, he found it even more unnerving to interact with these areas of intentional human activity. People walked this path at some point. Someone peered through the blinking, lifeless camera at one time or another. Do people still travel this old trail? Does anyone continue to watch the island through a screen? Grey wasn't sure how much further this path went on or where it led. But he trusted his new friend, and he journeyed on. --------------- Sableye // Level 1 // Female Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10 | 14 | 14 | 10 |

The path eventually emptied into a massive facility. One that looked as if it was once home to a massive laboratory. Inside, after all, were tubes, computers, desks... but no papers. No scraps of anything with any information. Just piles of ashes and water pouring from the open ceiling. The entire place was destroyed fro the explosion, fire, and nature's antics after. But the strange, dark, smeared marks on the floor had yet to wash away... they looked scorched into the floor. A mark forever on the tile. While there was little information to explain the smashed-in tubes large enough for a person, there was life here. Pokemon scampered away as the human and the ghost approached, but one pokemon wasn't quite aware of what was going on. In fact, it was chasing an odd ball of... something. Sticks and mud and leaves that had been crafted by sharp claws to create a sort of toy. The pokemon tackled it and tossed it up and away. It's body clearly made from mismatched part with a strange, heavy looking helmet on its face. The pokemon tackled the ball and it rolled towards the human and Sableye. The pokemon was about to chase after their toy before they realized a human was standing there! Oh! In a moment of panic, their eyes flashed a bright color at the Sableye, targeting any attacks they shared... which... yes, it was the exact same move... well... one less thing to worry about, yes! Yes. The pokemon wanted their ball, but not quite interested in getting closer... they weren't too fond of humans... A Wild Pokemon Appeared!

Spotting the building over the horizon, a chill ran down Grey's spine. 'Oh, Abra. Where did you lead me?' Maybe he was in over his head.
To call the building "run down" would be a misnomer. The facility toed the line of even being a building at all. These were ruins. Not-quite-fearlessly, Grey stepped through the entrance of the place, trusting his partner's gemstone eyes to be a reliable second sentry against looming threats. He communicated with his partner only non-verbally, so as to keep a low profile. Grey stepped foot in a dilapidated lobby - each of the natural elements had made a home for itself in what used to be a haven for sterile research against external influence. No evidence of human activity remained in these rooms except for fragmented glass, plastic, wood, and metal.
Grey and shade made their ways down a scorched and flooded corridor, investigating each side room along the way. Despite the sounds of light scurrying, the duo found nothing inside, time and time again. The room at the end of the hallway, however, was a different story. It wasn't light scurrying that echoed out of the doorway. It was the stomping of a titan. Something was making a ruckus, and Grey wasn't the most eager to find out what it was. Regardless, if he was to become the renowned trainer that the Seelie's once were, he knew he had to carry on.
But it wasn't he who entered first - as Grey gradually made his way down the hall, keeping his volume down, Shade curiously scampered to the door's entrance, effortlessly making less sound than a Dedenne. Peering around the frame of the door, she stared, silently. 'Why. Why did you have to run up there.' Grey lamented internally. He accelerated his pace to close the distance between him and his partner. One, two. One, two. One, two. As the room continued to rumble, he got closer and closer. One, two. One, two. One, splash. The noise stopped. Inches from the doorway, a misstep had landed Grey's foot in a puddle. Looking up from his soggy shoe, he found himself making eye contact with the beast that was causing such a ruckus. Still standing in the doorway, he noticed a small sphere of mud (amongst other things) that had rolled up to Shade's feet.
Taking a step from the side into the center of the entrance, Shade moved towards the ball to inspect it. It was then that a bright flash came from the mysterious Pokemon's eyes. She should do something before things go downhill: looking towards the Pokemon, she used Imprison. Her eyes flashed a bright col-
No light shone from her sky blue eyes.
Grey was mortified. He knew that he and Shade wouldn't stand a chance against the 6 foot tall beast. But its mannerisms were... non-aggressive? Like all of the Pokemon that he had encountered on the island, it didn't attack - at least, not in any way that he had noticed. The light that briefly emanated from the Pokemon's eyes didn't seem to hurt Shade.
Regardless, Grey needed to make a decision now. The ball. In one motion, he stepped forward and kicked the ball of mud at the beast. Its considerable size meant that it only rolled sloppily along the floor, but it almost appeared small once it came to a stop near the Pokemon. This bought him some time, but what to do now?...
By now, his fear had dissipated and only adrenaline was coursing through him. He was gonna catch this Pokemon, and he won't stop at anything to do so. Even if it takes what some might consider to be a little bit of deception. Soon after kicking the ball back, Grey took an empty luxury ball from his bag. 'It likes toys, so let's see what it thinks of this ball,' he figured. In one swoop, not quite as smooth as his kick, Grey rolled the luxury ball over to the hulking Pokemon. It stopped on the opposite side as the mud ball, and he hoped that it'd be curious enough to touch both.
He felt a little bit guilty about this capture attempt, seeing as it wasn't quite as transparent as his previous encounters... But he had no idea how to communicate with this threat. It felt like what he had to do. A necessary evil that's a means to an end.

The very moment the ball was kicked the pokemon ran after it, its sharp claws leaving deep groves in the metal as it tried to find traction before finally getting some, darting after the toy before knocking it back with a foot, the... fin for a tail. But there was something else rolling towards her! A very shiny ball! The eyes behind the helmet-mask went wide like a skitty's as she jumped back and stuck her fin-end in the air, giving a wiggle as she jumped from side to side with her eyes dead set on the ball. It was so shiny! She jumped towards it and as she grabbed it, she rolled over and tossed it into the air like a cat with some yarn before she was zapped inside. And thus began, potentially, the most violent catch in history that only Grey and Shade were there to witness. The ball rolled so hard it slammed against the wall as the pokemon struggled to find its way out, panicking at the sudden world it found itself in. Just like being shoved in the cages all over again, trapped, alone, no one there, not even her siblings. Where were they? Were they here? The ball rolled and bounced, slamming against the wall as it crashed to the ground again, covering itself with scratches and dents. They tried to find something to claw at, to rip apart so it could free itself of this prison. They didn't want to be trapped again! Not again! The panic was fully setting in. There was no way out of here. The ball rolled into the other wall again, the light blinking erratically until, finally, the ball was able to seal the target inside with a click. The luxury ball stopped rolling around, the Type: Null trapped in the dark abyss. Maybe the comfort of it was lost on them... but either way, the target was acquired. Shortly after, a loud fog horn roared from the beach. It was time to leave, least Grey wanted someone coming after him to drag him back to the boat. The time on this mysterious island had ended. A Wild Pokemon Appeared!
