Night || Clear || Rolled Encounter Samuel As much as an impossible occurance as it seemed to be, it looked like for once, the nasty inclement weather around Salve Island has abated. Even if only for a short time, the seas weren't as vicious and deadly -- still nothing a lone Pokemon or personal craft could handle, unlike the chartered boat that Sam is upon -- but still.
"Think out of all the trips so far, this'n had to be the easiest time docking," the Captain mentions idly to Samuel, as the crew finishes tying off the ropes to the rotted, sea-soaked excuse for a dock. "Watch your step - wood gave out on someone a couple days ago, it ain't stable. Got yer balls? Good. Three hours - them's the deal. You'll know it's time to haul ass back here when you hear the ship's croon. Til' then, have fun out there. Catch whatever ya can, don't get in trouble, 'n all that. We'll be here."
The moon is bright, illuminating the shoreline - Salve Island really is beautiful, at first glance. The beaches are unusual, a black sand that looks like ash and feels like dense, solid silk underfoot. Faded greens and silvers and blacks can be seen off in the distance, in the twisting gnarled branches of the inner-island woods. It's a shame all of this beauty is so hidden from the world.
But that's just the thing, isn't it? All this beauty... and nobody ever knew what Salve Co. was doing with the land. They owned the island, yes, but... it wasn't until the recent news of the explosion that rocked the island that anyone knew of the existence of a research facility, much less that it had a faulty boiler, and even less so that there lived a person who had survived the mysterious tragedy. And now, piece by piece, trainers have been getting invites out onto the island. All of this time, all of the secrecy - and now it's open in a free-for-all catchathon?
Whatever is going on, it is a sure mystery - but for now, there's places to explore and Pokemon to catch!

Samuel looked around as he hopped off the boat, rubbing his hands together as he walked carefully down the pier. “Easiest boat ride huh? That doesn’t bode well at all. Calm before the storm or some shit.” He mused to himself. He knelt once on the ground and opened his pack to look through everything, ensuring he had his luxury balls, snack bars, and some bags with Pokémon treats in them. Of course Galaga looked up at him, a protein bar in her mouth. She chirped up at him and snickered as he sighed heavily. “Just don’t eat the treats. Ain’t for you.” He said sternly, taking the black and orange lizard out of his bag and settling her in his jacket as he buttoned up and organized his inventory. —————————— ooc: well this seems totally not sketch XD Salandit // Level 1 // Female // Nickname: Galaga Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10 | 12 | 8 | 15 |

The sand is dense and compact underfoot; despite its ashy, almost glittery appearance, it feels incredibly solid, and it holds its shape like memory foam. It is beautiful and dark, unlike anything in the entire region. Were it any other night, this view - the ages long view of the black sand, the twisted, partially burnt trees of the inner forest, and the expansive lapping sea - would be almost impossible to see, hidden under a shroud of darkness.
But the night is clear, and so the beauty of the Salve Beach is on full display. And just as much: with this better light, it is equally impossible to not notice the Pokemon that is approaching the pair very slowly, keeping close to the ground and pausing often as if unaware that its attempts at sneakiness are very easily thwarted and noticeable.
She smelled food. A treat. She never got treats. Just the barest of rations shoved into her kennel during the times that she wasn't being poked, prodded, and bullied with force into performing for tests. She likes treats. And this trainer has them. So she will do what it takes to make them her's.
The pink, amorphous blob is a major standout against the black sand as she approaches, despite her attempts to be invisible. She inches closer, closer.... until she is within arms' reach of Samuel, staring leerily up at his jacket and his bag. Now how to get up there and sneak a...-- oh. Oh! Oh no!
She's definitely in sight now - and she panics for a hefty moment when her eyes meet Samuel's. She plays it off, though - a rattling little giggle, almost like a cackle. Her mouth quirks up into something of a smirk, and she glances away, pretending to be abashed and startled as she inches backwards, even as her attention is ever on that bag where the good smells come from...
