time: day, afternoon weather: clear characters: Rebecca Cardinal, Sebastian Aldenbergbattle mechanics: none ... yet! ❂ Rebecca Cardinal Rebecca tended to watch the sky as she walked rather than where she was going. She'd developed the habit since Pokemon returned: she could usually spot a bird Pokemon or two in the distance, and sometimes she even got closer glimpses, though she hadn't actually gotten close enough to catch any yet. Of course, watching the sky as she walked meant that she had also developed a certain tendency to bump into things. Fortunately, Galla followed along at her heels, peeping loudly to warn her trainer away from obstacles. "Chi chic!" the Torchic warned now, as Rebecca tried to figure out whether a bird in the distance was a Pidove or a Starly. Rebecca looked down to find herself face to face with a fellow traveler. Oh. Well. One of them was going to have to move. no one can stop me from spreading my wings

Sebastian had been making his way along the Route, distracted in his own way. On his shoulder as she loved to do, Everest perched herself and kept a watchful eye out for anything that could hurt her trainer. During the time they'd been together she'd gotten very... protective of Sebby, but it was better than being overly aggressive he supposed. Well... no she was still aggressive, but just towards everyone else. In his arms, and the taker of his attention, was his recently caught Wurmple. He'd named the little guy William, and it had already proven to be rather... well, he had personality that's all Seb would say.
"Will, stop trying to eat my clothes. Not food. This is food." He'd collected some leaves and was now offering them to the pink bug. Who was having none of it. Will was, instead, attempting to nibble the grey shirt. "I'm not sure if you're doing this because you can't understand me, or can understand me." He bemoaned before he got poked by the Sneasel.
"Snea! Sel! Snease!" She pointed forward... to Rebecca having just stopped as well. Sebby blinked quietly. Then realized his manners and started to clam up.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Uhm. I." He quickly sidled off to the side. Then he spotted the torchic and gave it a small smile. "Torchic... the chick pokemon..." he mumbled mostly to himself. Cute little one.

❂ Rebecca Cardinal Rebecca gave Sebastian an automatic little smile and an awkward wave -- the bare minimum you were supposed to do upon meeting someone, she'd learned -- and went to move past him. She was slightly impressed by his Pokemon, but neither of them were birds, soooo ... Then she heard him mutter about Torchic, and that piqued her interest. "Yes! Torchic is a Fire-type instead of a Flying-type, so it's an unconventional bird, but it still definitely counts as one -- and Combusken and Blaziken are dual-typed, but Fighting instead of Flying, so poor Galla will never get off the ground."
Oh, wait. She'd skipped over a bunch of things there, hadn't she? Like introductions, and "hello"? Oops. no one can stop me from spreading my wings

Sebastian was first startled, then mildly excited. Someone knew about pokemon! "yeah, that's right! It's a female torchic? Those are super hard to come by, she's super cute. And her final evolution is really strong, I heard of a phenomena called Mega Evolution that makes it even stronger but I don't think we have the necessary equipment and things to facilitate Megas yet. We kinda got seperated from the rest of the world. But her name is Galla? That's a good name for her, I like it. This is Will and Everest, but don't mind Everest if she tries to climb you it's just a thing she does when she meets new people, I don't understand it that well." Everest had dropped down and approached Galla to investigate the fire type. While Will. Will was ignoring everything to continue his steady nibbles of the shirt. Much to his trainer's mild annoyance.

❂ Rebecca Cardinal Rebecca nodded, also rather surprised to find someone else who knew things about Pokemon. Surprised and, after a moment's consideration, delighted. "Yes, Torchics are almost 90 percent male, but Galla's a girl! Thank you! Blaziken is really strong, even without Mega Evolution -- you're right, we don't have the equipment for that. Maybe someday."
Then Rebecca paused to take in Everest and Will. And, also, just the general fact that the stranger had Pokemon. Well, she didn't actually know what kind of Pokemon Everest was, but Wurmples were familiar. "Are you a trainer too? You have a Wurmple -- they're a favorite meal for a lot of bird Pokemon, including Starly and Taillow. I think Torchics are too small to eat Wurmples, though."
This she added with an almost regretful look down at Galla, who looked up at Will with no malice in her little eyes. no one can stop me from spreading my wings

Sebastian nodded slightly as the Wurmple gave him an offended look. "Shush you." He pet Will's head and he soothed, going back to nibbles. "I'm a trainer, well technically a field researcher, but a trainer. Will here is new, and Everest over there is my starter. She's a Sneasel, the sharp claw Pokemon. They usually live up in the cold but they're also pretty strong in general and are good at climbing. I look forward to learning which evolution Will gets though, since Wurmple has two different evolutions and it was never clear which one exactly would be evolved into. But it doesn't matter to me particularly, since both a Dustox or a Beautifly are pretty strong and it'll give me a good chance to see a Pokemon evolving." He said brightly.
Everest circled around Galla for a moment before poking her on the beak.

❂ Rebecca Cardinal "That's right." Rebecca nodded. "Beautifly is Bug and Flying type. Dustox is ... not Flying type. Bug and Poison? Dark? No, I think it's Poison."
She had a little interest in all Flying-type Pokemon, though bugs didn't really capture her heart the way birds did. Still, she knew a fair amount them because they so often provided meals for her beloved birds. Glancing down at Everest, Rebecca tensed and sucked in a breath as the Sneasel poked Galla. After protecting Galla's Pokeball for so long, she was finding it hard to adjust to the idea that the Torchic was no longer totally helpless, and her heart pounded at the sight of another Pokemon potentially bothering her. However, before Rebecca could try to intervene, Galla let out a cheerful, "Chic!" and returned Everest's attention by pecking her on the claw. no one can stop me from spreading my wings

"Yeah, Dustox is a poison type." he said with a nod before he looked down at Everest. Who pat Galla on the head happily and gave her trainer a nod. Then she proceeded to walk right up and circle Rebecca for a long moment. The Sneasel almost seemed to analyze the woman before, quick as always, she began to climb up the leg of the other trainer. Her claws were sharp and would snag slightly on the overalls. "Ah, Ev-.... I can't even stop you why do I even bother?" he asked himself as the ice cat paused to look at him before continuing her trek up to sit on this girl's head. This is what she wanted.

❂ Rebecca Cardinal "Oh!" Rebecca said, surprised when the Sneasel approached her, and even more surprised when she hooked claws into Rebecca's overalls and started climbing. Rebecca stiffened. "Oh, no -- I would prefer that you didn't do that, please!"
Hearing the mild distress in Rebecca's voice, Galla came to her side at once, hopping up as high as she could get and giving Everest a fierce peck. "Chic!"
"Oh, no, Galla, don't," Rebecca said, growing only more flustered. "Don't fight the Sneasel, it's all right."
It wasn't exactly pleasant to be climbed, but she'd survive, she supposed. Rebecca reached for Everest to try and grab her and perhaps remove her from her own body. no one can stop me from spreading my wings

"I'm so sorry ma'am, she does this with everyone she meets." Seb said with a large hint of embarrassment. "Everest, girl, c'mon come down."
Everest however was having none of it. When she was pecked, she dug her claws in and gave a sharp glare to the torchic. Oh hellllll no she didn't just get pecked. The ice cat glared up at Rebecca, however, when the trainer attempted to remove her. Then she proceeded to dig her claws into the fabric further. At least until a beam of red light streamed from her ball to her as she was returned. "I am so so so sorry, she's not normally this ornery."

❂ Rebecca Cardinal "It's all right," Rebecca said, more in an attempt to set this stranger at ease than because she actually didn't mind. Though it was over now; the distress wasn't lingering. Especially since the trainer seemed to actually care that his Pokemon had made her uncomfortable -- how could she fail to accept such a nice apology? "I don't know that Galla pecking her made things much better ... Though I do, of course, appreciate your protection."
This last was aimed down at Galla; Rebecca bent down and picked up the Torchic, hugging her to her chest. Ah, that felt better. It was almost astonishing, how much comfort she could find in Galla's always-toasty feathers. no one can stop me from spreading my wings

"She's usually quite well behaved, but she has a horrible habit of climbing everyone she meets. I think it may be due to her species. Sneasel live in snowy forests, where the ability to climb is heavily relied upon. And because she's so young, she doesn't understand that we aren't supposed to be climbed. I'm so sorry." He said, petting Will. Who mostly seemed upset that Seb was upset, and therefore moving about and disturbing his very comfortable perch on the man's arm.
"I'm sure Everest is too, but I think it might be best if she stays in her ball for now."

❂ Rebecca Cardinal Rebecca nodded thoughtfully as Sebastian explained his Pokemon's behavior. She wasn't mad at the Sneasel or anything; it had just been uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. His explanation made sense, but she couldn't help suggesting, "Maybe you could teach her that people are not to be climbed?"She didn't have any experience with Pokemon behavior problems herself -- Galla had popped out of her Pokeball perfectly behaved. Well, except for that one time she'd run off after that Bounsweet ... that hadn't been ideal. But for the most part, Galla did what Rebecca asked of her -- especially since Rebecca didn't ask much of her. Just that she stay close, especially in crowds, and not, you know, assault other people immediately on encountering them. no one can stop me from spreading my wings

"I uh... doubt it'll work too well. Training thus far has been hard to accomplish, b-but at least she listens in battle!... .. usually... We're still working on that one, much less trying to get this little guy to listen in battle." He looked down at the wurmple. Will had slowly made his way down Sebby's leg and onto the ground, steadily worming his way over to Galla with intent. Intent to nibble.
"But I think he's a good pokemon! H-he may not be that strong right now, but whenever he evolves I'm sure he'll do great! Not all bugs are weak, they just need a bit of time is all."

❂ Rebecca Cardinal "Mmmm." Rebecca still felt skeptical -- was it even safe for him to have a Pokemon he couldn't control? But she decided that it would be rude to press the issue. Even if he could probably tell from her frown that she wasn't satisfied. Better to go along with the change of subject. And as unpleasant as the stranger's Sneasel might be, she had no issues with the Wurmple! Yet. "Yes, some Bug Pokemon can get quite strong -- they just have to be trained with care."Care that ... she wasn't totally sure this guy was capable of, given his inability to control his Sneasel. But she wouldn't mention that. no one can stop me from spreading my wings
