Sebby hadn't noticed what Everest had been doing until she was attacked. He immediately was at attention, mouth open to ask if she was ok and then give an order to attack back. But then he remembered... She was faster. Unless she'd been distracted, she should have been able to dodge... Which meant that leering of her's... "Everest" He complained, "you can't just attack wild pokemon whenever you want! that little Barboach did nothing wrong."
She looked back at him innocently. He sighed. "Well, I guess we might as well finish what you started. You already Leered, go for a scratch girl." He called to his pokemon. She seemed to grin and flex her claws before she darted up to slash at the poor fish. Finally, he was catching onto the program. He had a smile on his face as he looked at this situation. Ok, she definitely had the upper hand. as long as it didn't get too lucky, he should be fine. And he had plenty of potions just in case.

Oh, now it was on. Clearly, this strangely aggressive Sneasel was not going to just let the Barboach chill, so the Barboach absolutely intended to bring the pain. At least, it intended to. What it actually did was use its tail to splash a little mud at Everest. The impact did hurt a little, and she was now covered in mud, but overall, not the punishing attack the Barboach would have liked. Oops. Well, it had shown that it wasn't going to be walked all over, at least. It ... might not have shown that it could give as well as it got.
OOC: Everest deals 4 damage to the wild Barboach, placing it at 9 HP! The wild Barboach uses Mud-Slap and hits for 1 damage, leaving her with 10 HP. The attack fails to reduce Everest's accuracy. Everest looked at the Barboach. And just. Shook her head to herself. "You ok Ev?" She nodded, "Ok, Scratch again!" Seb called up. She was quick to once more slash into the smaller, weaker pokemon. She really hoped that Sebby would let her actually knock it out. Really, Really hoped.
While Sebastian was more... more looking to catch the little one. It'd make a good addition to his team, and beyond that, he felt bad for it getting hurt because of his pokemon. Especially since it was Everest. At least she didn't seem to have any trouble aiming despite the mud. Thank Arceus for her having Keen eye, or this would be a lot harder. he mused to himself, And thank Arceus that I can at least mostly control her when a fight breaks out.

The Barboach took Everest's Scratch hard, cringing back into the mud. This hurt! Why was this happening? Not just the fight itself, but why was it losing? The Sneasel barely seemed bothered, and Barboach was ... not feeling great. Mustering all its strength, Barboach again sprayed water into Everest's face. There. That was at least twice as effective as its last attack. That would show her. Except ... she didn't seem all that bothered by it, actually. Dang. Barboach was going to have to step it up ... somehow ... Or at least put a brave face on what seemed like its impending defeat.
OOC: Everest hits the Barboach for 4 damage, leaving it with 5 HP! Barboach uses Water Gun and hits for 2 HP. Everest now has 9 HP. Seb winced when she hit the poor fishy. Ah, he wished that there had been a kinder attempt at this. Oh well. He knew it was hurting so the ball might work now. "Everest, stop."
The sneasel had been about to attack again, but turned and looked at him in annoyance. Sighed. Fine, if that's how he wanted to do things. He pulled out one of his pokeballs and tossed it out at the Barboach. hoping that it'd hit, and hoping that it wouldn't fight its way out. It was already weaker than it had been, regrettably since Everest had started the fight, but he could still help it get better. And get to know it too, he'd get another chance to get to know a pokemon up close and personal!

When Sebastian called Everest away, the Barboach finally started to relax a little and admit that it was hurt ... until Sebastian threw that Pokeball. His aim was good, and the Pokeball hit the Barboach lightly; the Pokemon flinched, preparing for another attack. But instead it got zapped up into the Pokeball, which settled with a click almost immediately. Barboach wasn't going back out there! Out there was where the scary Sneasel and her sharp claws were! No, Barboach's good in here. Congratulations, Sebastian! You have acquired ... fish.

Sebastian smiled a bit in relief and sighed. "Everest what have I told you about starting fights with innocent pokemon." He scolded, picking up the new pokeball. Containing his new Barboach. He'd have to think of a good name for it. He'd brainstorm later. Everest gave him a look, and he just sighed and shook his head. "Here, let's get you cleaned up a bit." He knelt by the water and used some to wash away the mud that clung for her form gently. It was only after he'd finished this task that he remembered Mya and suddenly blushed.
"Oh... Sorry Mya, she isn't that good about not fighting." He mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. His pokemon shook herself out and then stretched. She hurt a bit, but it wasn't too bad. She'd live. Not that he seemed too worried, he knew she'd be fine. |

Well, that battle sure was something. It was interesting to watch after Mya had gotten the hell out of the way and at a safe distance. She had just been trying to put more bait on the hook while it occurred, taking note of how quick Everest was and how she fought. She was a rough and tumble cat, wasn't she? Eon also seemed impressed at the fight, giving a happy cheer when Sebastian's capture was successful."Sorry about what?" She blinked. "Oh, yeah, no, you're good, man. You won and you got a new pokemon! That's super cool!" She stood back up and cast her line back into the water. "What are you gonna name him, anyway?"
Now if only she could get a pokemon that she liked... not that the fish Sebastian caught was bad but, uh, Mya did not like the way it looked at her. It was hard to describe. She had certain tastes.

As Sebastian contemplated his new fish -- and possible names for it -- Mya felt another tug on her line, this one so gentle that she might think it was just a snag ... but it was definitely there. When she reeled in the line, a blue head bobbed up out of the water, looking at her with a big, vacant grin. "Woop?"The wild Wooper didn't fight the line at all, just let itself be lead over to the shore, where it flopped down on its back, showing Sebastian and Mya its belly. It seemed perfectly at home in the mud, mellow and happy to meet them.

Oh well, that was... unexpected. Mya stared at the strange thing that was giving one of the goofiest smiles she has ever seen. Eon looked at Mya curiously and she looked back at him. Well.... when in Summerhill, she guessed.

The Wooper vanished into the Pokeball, which barely even twitched before the button flashed successfully. Wooper was just as happy to hang out in the Pokeball as in the mud; made no difference to her. Everywhere was chill. Mya had a new Pokemon! The Ultra Ball sat quietly in the mud, waiting for her to pick it up so that Wooper could join her journey. A successful fishing trip, all in all, even if it hadn't been love at first sight with any of the Pokemon encountered because they're not Magikarps.

Huh. Well!Mya wiped off the ultraball from mud and stuffed it in her bag before standing up and taking apart her fishing pole.
"Alright, Sebastian, let's walk around a bit. I'm done fishing." She didn't want Sebastian wasting the whole trip just... watching her fish. Mya would probably come back later whenever Eon could hold his own in this dangerous area, but until then, eh. Mya turned her flashlight down deeper into the cave. "You want to lead the way, or me?"

Sebastian smiled as he watched the adorable pokemon get caught then turned to Mya. "I'll lead, it should be fine. Everest's taken more of a beating than this before." He said, picking up his pokemon. She seemed perfectly happy, if a little disappointed that she hadn't gotten to beat it up.
"Wooper the water fish pokemon. It's... honestly not that strong but really cute." He said idly about her new pokemon. "They're pretty inactive, but they're also super sweet as far as I know." He glanced over to her and smiled a bit more.
"This has been fun though, I've enjoyed doing this with a friend. It's better than going through the swamp all by myself. And we got to catch some new friends along the way. I have a new Barboach, and you have a Wooper. Who knows what else we'll find in here." Seb's smile was bright and happy. He was a happy researcher. |

As Mya and Sebastian continued down the path, deeper into the Maw, they could see flames flickering around a corner, casting shifting shadows on the wall. Quietly, they approached the corner and peeked around it to see a Cyndaquil sitting by a small hole, gazing deeply into it. The Cyndaquil seemed quite absorbed in its hole, but then it heard them approach and turned. "Quil?"The flames on Cyndaquil's back flared as it saw two strange humans watching it. Oh, that was not OK! It prepared to attack with a loud, "Quil!"

Oh... she loved it. It was adorable. It didn't show on her face, however. Mya just cleared her throat and looked to Sebastian. "I'm going to catch this one, bud." Or, she hoped.She shook her head at Eon and looked back at the angry little mouse. It looked like it was ready for a fight. They had to be smart about this. She took Eelington's pokeball off of her belt and Eon gave her a worried sound. She just shrugged.
"Eelington! Just behave yourself and you kick my ass later!" she said as she tossed out the pokeball. Eelington burst forth and was already crackling with electricity, staring down the cyndaquil. That was a deal he could take.
