Kain cocks an eyebrow. "Is that so? As a fan, or a rival? A potential Poison type Gym Leader? Not the worst typimg, just try to cover your spread. I battled this guy named Sai, he had an Aron. That would be quite the problem for Mosh...gave Torchic his first loss." Kain watches her, slightly more guarded than before with the possibility of a rival...but she could also be an ally. It would be almost impossible to start a League on your own...and Farrah wasn't terrible to look at. Either way, maybe he should stop giving her tips on battling...just in case.

"Mmm... not as a Poison leader, no," Farrah tilted her head, amusement gracing her expression. "Mosh is a tough fighter, but my specialty is actually that of the dark type, and not poison. So a Dark-type Gym Leader, rather." She nodded in understanding to the advice nonetheless, though. Even if she knew her own Pokemon, it was always good to have multiple opinions - you learned something every day. But she did light up at the mention of Sai. "Ahh, you've met a friend of mine, then! Little powerhouse in the making, that Aron is. I look forward to seeing how they grow as trainer and Pokemon alike."
Farrah took the moment to gesture towards the two other balls on her belt that weren't Mosh's scuffed Pokeball. One was an old looking Luxury ball that was obviously polished and well cared for; the other a still fairly new looking Ultra ball. "My other two are dark types. But aside from a fellow Gym Leader, a fan and rival both would be accurate. I like to test others' strengths and ambitions. But I also enjoy seeing how they grow and develop. And the League is perfect for that... granted that it remains in the hands of the people, and not given over to major companies to be milked for profit, of course."

Kain nods after a moment, crossing his arms over his chest. "So...you want the League to be independent of Salve? Building a League is an expensive venture...how do you plan on keeping the only company in Deprin worth being called a company out of it? I'm not doubting your mettle or integrity, I'm questioning your strategy." Kain leans against the nearby wall, locking eyes with Farrah. He knows he should have a job with Salve, provided Takara kept their word. Should he reveal that, or should he wait to find out if Farrah wanted more that just avoiding having Salve bankroll the League. Maybe a little double agent action was called for...especially if the price was right...

Farrah simply nodded in response to Kain’s questions, before crossing her own arms. “No offense taken. It’s a good question which needs be taken to consideration.” She paused for a moment, before looking Kain back in the eye when she responded. “I do want it to be independent of Salve, yes. Or of any mega-corp or big whale looking for illicit monetary gain. The League is cultural. Not something that should be taken advantage of to disparage workers or the public whole. To be blunt.”
Maybe it was a dangerous thing to admit that yes, Farrah was referring to Salve. But being a person in the public eye and notoriety she had already butted heads with some of those less than altruistic types. Another scandal wouldn’t stop Farrah from fighting battles for the people of Deprin’s welfare. And Farrah wasn't the kind of person to hide their opinions when asked, anyway, for better or worse. “As a base, away from outside funding, the Deprin Pokemon Lab does already have funding and grants set aside for League startup. That would go well towards maintenance and regulation.” She tilted her head. “I already give a lot of proceeds of my work back into the community. Those same proceeds may be used to begin a League Fund. Or a foundation… with the stipulation that donations and funding goes into League expenditure, and does not give donees a corporate say or share in the organization. By the people, for the people, as it were.”
And the more word of mouth spread, and more trainers began popping up, the more interest there would be. People weren’t cruel. There would be volunteered work, paid wages. Community effort. The more it spread, the more people would care. Farrah sighed, pursing her lips. “In my mind, the League should belong to the people. Not a company. Gym Leaders, after all, are roles of competition and leadership in their area, not government assigned employees. I intend to do my share, and of course, it won’t be easy. But it’d be worth it, don’t you think? The alternative isn’t great.” Deprin had the sweatshops of Famine to thank for that insight.

Kain nods, watching her for a reaction. "I should have a job with Salve...as long as the boss keeps their word. Is that going to be an issue with me being part of the League?" He has no intention of letting Salve affect his position in the League, and already knew that he would side with the League every time. He also knew that the easiest way to avoid getting run over by a large company was to become part of it. "You know...once the League has enough clout, we can deal with the alternatives...maybe make live better for everyone?"

Farrah's eyes narrow slightly at this admission. Once again she finds herself looking Kain up and down - but mostly, she's watching his face for any sign of duplicitousness or lies. Or anything determining some kind of undermining of the League. She... doesn't find anything. Relaxing a bit, she leans back. "An employee isn't the same as the big decision makers. Nothin' wrong with makin' a living." The little fish didn't make the nasty splashes; not that Kain would be a little fish in the League, by a long shot, but a starting position in Salve was very different from the Board of Directors. "And I agree."
There's something crooked in her grin, promising mischief of some kind. "I'll be pleased to welcome you to the League formally when the time comes. I look forward to testing your team then."

Kain smiles, "I look forward to it, once I do some filling out for my team. I'm planning to head to Drackinhelm to find some fire babies. So, I should go get my food before Torchic gets any crankier. Hopefully I'll see you around, yeah?" He looks back towards the baristas, trying to mentally figure out his order. He picks out his set of Heavy Duty Boots as well as Torchic's pair. Once he has made his decision, he packs his food for a journey, looking back at Farrah. "Give me a ring if you need anything." (OOC: I'm good to close it out if you are)

"Make sure to be safe if you're headed out that way," Farrah nods back. "Drackinhelm's more dangerous than ever, not that you need reminding." She stays quiet as Kain works through his business with the barista, with the boots and with breakfast to-go. No sense interrupting, of course. And when he looks back, she inclines her head, grin bright as ever. "Same to you then, Kain. Don't be a stranger, yeah?"
After he's left, Farrah turns back to the barista for a few moments. "I'd say this has been a brilliant start to this little event, don't you? I look forward to seein' all the talent that's gonna come through these doors today. Now, if you'll excuse me... think I need to clear out the arena, heal up, get ready for round two."
