"Oh...." Arris liked the look of this little Pokemon. She looked sweet, with her little smile and the nice expression... he and Belle looked back at one another before examining the tadpole again. Well, maybe they could do something with her here. It was worth a shot at battle, and it would be nice for Belle to have experience again. That was to say, this is what Arris was thinking before the Tympole's expression changed. Oh - why was it so sad? It was okay, there wasn't -- "Auuugh!!"
Arris felt as if he'd gotten completely deafened by the screeching noise, especially without any time to cover his ears. Belle certainly didn't look much better, shaking her head violently as she stumbled back and forth with an upset little squeak of noise. "Boun boun bouuunnn....." Both trainer and pokemon seemed to come to the same conclusion: this pokemon definitely didn't want to get caught, it wasn't having a good day, and the nice thing to do would be to cut the losses and let the poor thing get back to it's life.
"Sorry little one!" Arris winced. "Didn't mean to cause you any pain or harm like that, um - I don't know how we can make it up to you but we'll certainly let you go on with your day, okay? Here, let me just..." Arris was extremely wary of getting too close to be attacked by the Tympole, but he reached his hands out to get the line and such off of the Pokemon before letting go immediately, standing up and taking a step back. Belle tottered around unsteady at his feet. He held the rod out to the side away from Tympole, as if to show that there wasn't any harm meant. "See? We're not going to hurt you. You're free to go, it's all okay..."

In another life, maybe Tympole and Arris could have been great friends -- if they'd met when Tympole was in a better mood, perhaps, and not so inclined to scream. But in this one, Tympole was glad to plop back into the water and swim away. It even felt a little better after Arris' soothing words. Sure, being reeled in had disrupted its already-terrible morning, but at least he'd been nice about it -- he had reminded Tympole that maybe the world wasn't all cold and hard (or cold and wet, since it was an aquatic Pokemon). As the Tympole vanished into the water, Belle's confusion faded, her ears clearing from the Tympole's shriek.

Arris let out a quiet sigh as the Tympole swam away. It was a shame - but he wasn't going to force a Pokemon to stay that absolutely didn't want to. He really hoped that it had a better day than the one it appeared to be having when he fished it up, though. Nobody deserved to have a bad time.
He took a few minutes to pack up his rod and everything else he'd brought along (including the little rod he'd made for Pepper, since he'd seemed to enjoy it), before kneeling down and picking Belle up carefully. "Hey sweetheart. That was a heck of an awakening, huh? You feelin' okay? It looked like it hit you hard there." The Bounsweet nuzzled into Arris chest with a little mumble, before bouncing out of his arms with a little twirl. "Bouuuun! Bounswee!~" Arris chuckled as he stood back up, dusting himself off. "That's my girl! Alright. You wanna go on a walk? We can break a lil' bit of time and all of us can have some breakfast before we drop by at the center, hm? It's a lovely day. We've got all the time in the world."
Taking a last look back at the river, Arris rolled his shoulders before gesturing to Belle. Looking quite pleased, the two sauntered off together down the road. They were going to make the best of their day, too, for sure!
