time: day weather: clear participants: Sai Tsumori , wild Pokemon battle mechanics: rolled
It was a beautiful day at the Salve Co. construction site, and there were many horrible Pokemon doing their best to ruin it. Salve Co's workers were nominally on the job, but struggling to get anything done as they discovered Pokemon stealing equipment, smashing recent construction, and diverting their electricity -- not to mention just standing in the way. With conditions like this, it seemed unlikely that the geothermal power plant would ever finish construction -- unless, of course, some valiant trainer was to corral the unruly Pokemon for long enough to make some progress. Enter Sai, who was made very welcome at the gates and told to go pretty much wherever they wanted, wherever the Pokemon problem seemed worst.
OOC: Welcome to your wild encounter! Please start off with a post describing how you start looking for Pokemon. You have 5/5 Ultra Balls. You have 1/1 out-of-battle heal left. You have 1/1 Super Repel. This is encounter 0/3. Capture on!

Sai wheezed as they finally got some distance from themself and what could only be described as a welcoming committee, looking down at Takeko who seemed to preening from all the attention. Sai didn't want to say they hated people, far from it truly, but the workers seemed enthusiastic that Sai had answered the wanted ad.
'WANTED! Pokemon Trainer needed to help corral wild pokemon!'
They looked down at the crumpled flyer in their hands, before pocketing it and looking around. The sun was warm and pleasant on their skin, and Sai took a deep inhale, loving the scent of metal all around. It reminded them of home, even if it did make them a bit homesick. Looking down to Takeko who was also sniffing about curiously, her scales almost glowing a soft lime in the sunlight.
"You ready girl?"

As Sai and Takeko walked through the construction site, they heard some buzzing and crashing noises coming from a half-completed building. Investigating, they found an orb-shaped Pokemon causing metal girders to lift into the air and then dropping them -- causing huge dents that twisted the girders and left them useless for construction.
As it spotted Sai and Takeko, the wild Magnemite's single eye widened. It wasn't sure why, but humans always seemed terribly grumpy about its little game of magnets -- they would shout and sometimes even throw things at it. It did not want shouting and throwing things! It would have to defend itself! It threw itself at Takeko, but in its panic, the attack missed completely.

Sai jolted hard at the sudden crashing noise, head whipping around as they worked to locate the cause of such a loud sound. It took Sai a moment to find the cause, everything a dull sort of silver around them, before they spotted four odd little squares of blue and red near a pile of dented girders.
'Must be why the request for help was so urgent...Silver would have SO much fun here.'
Sai went to speak, wanting to, calmly get the little creatures attention, before noticing that they'd already been spotted, and the little bugger did NOT seem pleased by their intrusion. Yelping, Sai managed to sidestep away from the little ball of metal, watching as Takeko managed to avoid the pokemon's attack as well.
"Wait wait!" Sai tried, holding their hands up in what they hoped come across as peaceful, before Takeko huffed at her humans attempt at pacifying their attack, and bared her claws. She wasn't about to let anyone hurt her, or her trainer. She'd show this ball who was boss! Leaping up into the air, Takeko focused in on the Magnemite and flailed at it with her claws! Takeko's Scratch connected with the Magnemite, though it didn't seem to do a whole lot to the Pokemon's steel body. Still, Magnemite jumped back, startled by the pain of the attack. Oh no, nope. It did not plan to stick around for too many more of those, thank you very much. But maybe it could get these two to go away and leave it to its game instead of fleeing itself? It called forth lightning from its body, a bolt crackling over to Takeko ... and having no effect whatsoever. Well that wasn't great. Maybe Magnemite should start looking for an exit.
OOC: Takeko's Scratch hits for 1 damage, leaving the wild Magnemite with 4 HP! The wild Magnemite uses Thunder Shock, but it fails: Takeko, as a Ground-type Pokemon, is immune to Electric-type moves! Sai's eyes widened as he watched the bolt of lightning do absolutely nothing to Takeko, gaze bouncing between her, and the Magnemite before moving his body between the duo, arms held up.
"Wait!" They said, briefly looking back to Takeko, sternly speaking. "Do not move. Do not attack them. Stay." Earning Sai a rather annoyed look, before she busied herself with looking at her claws. Turning back to the Magnemite, Sai tried to make themself look as non-threatening as possible.
"I'm sorry we startled you, and that we attacked you. It won't happen again, I promise. We don't want to hurt you." Sai said softly, watching the Magnemite. "I know you have no reason to trust me, and I understand that. We're only here because the humans over there need these girders." They said, motioning to the bent ones, before looking back to the pokemon. "It looked like you were playing with them right? I have a pokemon who likes to play with steel too, and I actually know where a bunch of old vehicles are that no one would stop you from playing with." Sai said with a smile, before motioning to the human workers a distance away.
"Now I know I can't make you, and I don't want to try to, but those humans are just going to keep sending people to try and clear this area out. However, " Sai paused, slowly, very slowly, pulling a ball from their pouch, "If you'll let me, I'll take you somewhere where humans won't bother you, and you can play all day long." Sai stated, holding the ball out,
"Will you trust me?" Ooc: - Sai attempts to catch Magnemite! Current pokemon: Sandshrew - current health: 10/10 - Status: N/A - stat changes: N/A Sandshrew // Level 1 // Female Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | 10

Magnemite blinked at Sai's words, confused by the sudden cessation of combat and by the concepts Sai was trying to explain. The humans wanted these girders too? And that was why they were so angry about it? But it wasn't taking them, just ... playing a little. Then the Ultra Ball came out. Magnemite considered that, too. The human would take it away, somewhere where it could play without yelling humans? That sounded nice. It tapped the Ultra Ball -- but almost immediately emerged again. That was weird! It had disappeared into the ball! It didn't know if it liked that -- it had panicked and left. And now it panicked again and aimed a solid Tackle at Takeko. Maybe it would be best if these two just went away.
OOC: Capture failed! The wild Magnemite uses Tackle and hits for 3 damage, leaving Takeko with 7 HP. Magnemite: 4/5 Status: none Stat changes: none Held item: none You have 4/5 Ultra Balls. You have 1/1 out-of-battle heal left. You have 1/1 Super Repel. This is encounter 1/3. Capture on!

Sai balked in surprise when the Magnemite re-emerged from the Ultra ball, gaze flitting between the pokemon and the ball for several moments. They'd not had that happen before, and it seemed their surprise would cost them. Sai watched as Magnemite reared back, launching itself at Takeko, earning an angry noise from her as she winced at the hit.
'Shrewwww!' She chittered in displeasure, before bearing her claws once more, taking a heavy swipe at her opponent. Sighing in frustration, Sai nodded at Takeko, moving to stand behind her.

Magnemite pushed its confusion about the whole Pokeball thing behind it. The Pokemon in front of it, attacking it, was something it knew and understood; it had no idea what to think about the Ultra Ball that had almost captured it. But it could battle with the best of them, as long as the best of them were also level 1. It took Takeko's Scratch without flinching, the damage mostly absorbed by its steel body. Then it launched itself at the Sandshrew again, slamming into her for a solid attack. There. That would show these people not to mess with it, wouldn't it?
OOC: Takeko's Scratch hits for 1 damage -- it's not very effective. The wild Magnemite now has 3 HP. The wild Magnemite uses Tackle and hits Takeko for 3 damage, leaving her with 4 HP! Sai grit their teeth as they watched Takeko sway on her feet a bit, before shaking off the attack best she could. 'Shrewwww!' She yowled, furiously, lunging in for another attack, leaping up with her claws bared.
"Just a bit more Takeko! You can do this!" Sai cheered on, though they were wary of just how hard the little Magnemite was hitting. "They had maybe one more shot at catching them, before Takeko would be at her limit.
"It doesn't have to go down this way!" Sai shouted to the Magnemite, hand resting on another Ultra Ball at their hip.
'One more shot.' They could do this, they had to.

The Magnemite almost flinched as Takeko scratched it again. Sure, she wasn't doing a lot of damage, but these people just didn't give up, did they? It was going to have to do something drastic if it wanted to scare them away ... So Magnemite reached for the other option in its toolbox, too flustered to remember that it had already tried and failed. Lightning shot out from it, vaporizing the air itself, filling the space between Magnemite and Takeko with the smell of ozone and a flash of light -- and doing absolutely no damage to Takeko. Oops! Magnemite could have facepalmed, if it had a face, or a palm.
OOC: Takeko's Scratch hits for 1 damage, leaving the Magnemite with 2 HP. The Magnemite uses Thunder Shock, but it fails! Sai winced, at the sudden bright flash of light, their arms flying up to shield their eyes. A full body shudder went through them as they were able to taste the sweetness of the ozone, their hair sticking up some from the static. Blinking several times before their eyes finally refocused from the flash, still seeing spots in their vision, Sai turned to Takeko, who was once more completely unfazed by the attack. If anything, they watched as she narrowed her eyes, panting just a bit before launching for her foe once more.
"You've got this Takeko!" Sai shouted, pulling the ball free from it's clasp. After this, they'd try once more to catch this pokemon, hopefully not getting shocked themselves.

OK, that was it. Magnemite couldn't take another Scratch like that, steel body or no steel body. In fact, the hit was so hard that Magnemite instinctively -- and completely ineffectually -- released more lightning, sparking harmlessly around Takeko. Realizing that it had no good options, Magnemite started to look for escape routes; it very badly wanted to flee. Actually, that whole Pokeball thing didn't sound so bad anymore, either. It wished it had taken the offer when Sai had originally made it; then it wouldn't be facing this merciless, apparently invulnerable Sandshrew. Oh, Takeko might be a little worse for wear too, but that would be cold comfort to Magnemite if it lost this battle.
OOC: Takeko's Scratch hits for 1 damage, leaving Magnemite with 1 HP the correct value, after I previously misstated it. Magnemite uses Thunder Shock again, and it continues to have no effect! Sai blinked against the spots in their eyes again, wincing at the headache they could feel rapidly approaching, before looking over Takeko. The electric flash once more did nothing to her, and Sai started to wonder if it was because she was shiny, or maybe it was her typing? They'd need to do more research about that.
Noticing the shift in the air, Sai turned to face Magnemite, who looked rather worse for wear and seemed to be on the verge of panic. Holding his hand up to Takeko, they moved between them again, anxiety prickling the back of their neck at the danger of getting shocked, Ultra ball ready.
"It's alright, we're done battling here, and I'm sorry it had to come to this. However, " They paused, offering the ball out, "If you come with me, I'll get you healed up, and let you play with all the metal you want, alright? No more humans trying to shoo you away. You'll even have friends to play with, if you want that is."

And there, just as Magnemite was thinking about how it should have accepted the first Ultra Ball, came another one. It gratefully tapped the ball's button and vanished into it. Healing? Yes please. Somewhere to play, and friends to play with, where no humans would yell at it? Also sounded great. Honestly, it would have accepted the Ultra Ball just for a good rest, at this point. This human definitely seemed nicer than the construction workers Magnemite usually interacted with; even if it was somewhat intimidated by Takeko, it had to admit that it had technically struck first. Maybe if it didn't do that in the future, it could even get along with the Sandshrew. The Ultra Ball clicked. Magnemite had joined the team!
