Mari throws the Pokeball. The Bouffalant notices, but Mari’s aim is true. As the ball soars through the air, the Bash Buffalo Pokemon rears up with a bellow, anger renewed… and get sucked within the ball.
The ball rocks violently once it hits the grass. A struggle seems to be going on just as much inside the Pokeball as without, and our trainers watch with baited breath as the green light wavers, ball shaking with exertion. One second… two…
The light dims.
And then the Pokeball smashes open with a spark of scattered light, the Bouffalant reappearing in the grass with a furious expression. He raises a hoof and brings it down on the Pokeball, and then his eyes turn not to Stratagem, but to Mari.
Mari: “...Uh oh.”
The Bouffalant roars, rearing up and kicking his feet, and then begins to charge. His lowered head all but knocks Stratagem out of the air and out of the way, undeterred in his rampage towards the trainers. Mari stumbles backwards, and it appears as Bouffalant is about to bear down upon her when–
Farrah: “Hammer Arm!”
Very suddenly, another Pokemon appears on the scene, green-boughed arm slamming with force into the side of the rampaging Pokemon’s head. The super-effective attack knocks the Bouffalant off course, stumbling off to the side into the grass. He rights himself and snorts, shaking his head – but now Farrah has stepped in, her Sudowoodo standing in front of her with an expression one can only describe as a very disappointed, chastising den-mother. A few long moments pass in a stand-off… and finally, the Bouffalant relents, turning and galloping off into the grass. Once it does, Farrah turns and offers a hand to Mari, helping her up.
Farrah: “You okay there?”
Mari: “Other than the adrenaline rush, sure! Holy Magikarp!”
Farrah: “As long as you aren’t hurt. Good work, Jazz – that certainly didn’t quite go to plan, did it?”
The Sudowoodo – Jazz – shakes her head as she approaches, holding onto the tired Stratagem.
Jazz: “Woodo wood.”
Mari: “You did real good Strata, I’m so proud of you buddy, c’mere.”
Mari picks up Stratagem from Jazz, and holds onto the Beldum who preens happily as the group turns to face the camera.
Farrah: “I’m glad we’re all fine, but that goes to show, trainers! Always be prepared! If you feel like you’re in a dangerous situation, or that something doesn’t seem right, it’s okay to move on or avoid things altogether! Not every encounter will be the same – they’re at the whim of fate, and it’s best to be safe and know your limits!”
Mari: “Unfortunate that we didn’t manage to catch it, though.”
Farrah shrugs with a grin, and her Sudowoodo mimics the gesture. Now that things have calmed, she seems relatively unbothered.
Farrah: “That’s alright. Not all catches are winners, and that’s okay! But we did make a new friend today anyway. And all information, both captured and otherwise, is valuable for research, and valuable for teaching.”
Mari: “Spot on! And speaking of teaching – that was three encounters, trainers, and that’s what you get for these kinds of adventures! Three encounters, three chances to catch a Pokemon, and then we call it a day. We only caught one today, but we might be surprised later! But for now, that’s all we’ve got for this first episode of
So You Wanna Be a Master!?”
Farrah: “Thank you again for having me, Mari. It’s been a blast.”
Mari: “Thank you for being here! Alright trainers! You know how it goes. The walls have been shattered, knowledge obtained, and now is the time to put it to the test. We’ll see you next time. I’m your host, Mari Williams, and this has been our guest, Sylvanport Gymleader Farrah Whitaker – and now you know the Meta. The Metagross Meta! Thanks for tuning in!”
Mari and Farrah: “Aaaaand cut!”
> END OF THREAD <
MODTALK:...Yikes! A 2 - that roll didn't go very well, did it? When referencing our rules for a self-moderated encounter, a 1-5 is an auto failure. This means the capture attempt does not pass go, does not collect 200 Pokedollars, and alas, the Pokemon escapes and will not be caught. Better luck next time!
So... what comes next? Well, trainers, this is it! After reacting to your final encounter's capture attempt, it's time to wrap up the thread. There aren't any more encounters after this, so it's curtain call! There's only one thing left to do once you finish up your encounter thread. Or well. A couple.
FIRST: Much like this thread, demarcate that it's complete!
SECOND: Hop back on over to the Services > Encounter Requests and Review page. Make a post using the Self/Volunteer Moderated Thread Review Request, filled out properly ... and then tag your moderation team (that's
Artificiary and
Dew ) over on the Pokemon Rapture Discord in the #witness-statements channel to let us know your thread is complete and ready for review!
Mods'll let you know when your thread has been reviewed, which leads you to the last thing you'll need: the results.
Results will be the last post on the thread -- it'll tell you what Pokemon you caught, what EXP you've earned, etc. And perhaps most importantly: it'll give you the statblocks for the Pokemon that you caught! Remember, each Pokemon gets a unique post on your tracker, and be sure to have the statblock code readily visible/available for mods to access. If you need help with that, just let us know!
See you all on the results post, but until next time trainers: Happy Encounters!
