"It was sad music. But it waved its sadness like a battle flag. It said the universe had done all it could, but you were still alive." -Terry Pratchett, soul music They tell me I'm a god, I'm lost in the facade
Afternoon || Clear || Arti He splashed the water on his face, taking in a few deep breaths. Hands gripped the side of the sink as more turbulence shook the plane. It was normal and standard and they were on the other side of the world to that... 'fast travel' spot people loved to take now. How morbid. People used to live there, but... Sebastian fixed his make-up in the mirror using the kit he kept in the plane's washroom for this exact purpose. Flying made him nervous, but boats were worse. Being over the water was always so horrible. At least the air didn't have you rocking every which way. Satisfied with his work, he left the bathroom and put on a smile, placing his hands on either side of some chairs as he looked over his band mates and friends. Yasha, his closest friend, looked up from her book and gave him a raised eyebrow and a small smile before looking back down as his drummer pulled him into a hug and patted him on the back. "Ah! Birthday boy! When we get to Alola we're going to throw you a HUGE bash just you wait! Right after the concert!""I really don't want anything big," Sebastian said as the turbulence made him shift his footing. He slowly made his way back to his seat, leaning against it. "I will be just fine with some delivery and games, I promise. Maybe a movie?" He sighed. "Really... I'm getting a bit worn out. I wish she'd back off..." She referring to his agent. They had back to back shows for the world tour with only a few days rest. He and Chloe were exhausted, not to mention the band with all the traveling. Sebastian took in a breath. "Really, just a little rest would do me wonders!" He sat down in the chair and promptly fell through the entire thing into the open air. A shrill scream left him as he grasped out for anything! Something! His mind raced as he realized there was nothing. This was pure air. He was falling through pure, open air. He hurtled through clouds, the cold moisture freezing him to the bone before he broke out of the mist. He turned to try and see where he was going--maybe this was an illusion cast by Sully's Kadabra? It wouldn't be the first time a practical joke was made but this felt... too real. Heart caught in his throat, Sebastian tried to stay steady, but the rush of air spun him like a rag doll, the wind bashing him from side to side. Ugh! Damn turbulence haunted him even here! "Sebastian!"The call nearly escaped his ears if he didn't recognize it. He spun again and saw Chloe, his faithful Chatot, dive bombing after him with a speed of extreme ferocity. She soon reached him and grabbed his jacket with her talons, trying her best to stop his decent but he was too heavy and she was too small. "Chloe! Let go! Don't go down with me!" He screeched over the wind. He looked down, feeling vertigo hit him hard as he fought to keep his lunch. But he recognized land and it was approaching fast. Honestly, he was surprised he could breathe and also wasn't freezing to death. That was the main problem if you were outside of a plane and not in it. The lack of oxygen and freezing cold air combined with the water of the clouds could literally kill someone--has. "Falling!" Chloe said as she tried to pull away, her talons caught. "Thank you, Captain Obvious!" Sebastian shouted as he unhooked her talons and she took off again. He thought carefully. He had no other flying types. He couldn't summon any of his other pokemon to help him--they'd all be crushed if he did. "Shit, shit, shit!" He scrambled, grabbing his belt that held all six pokeballs--including Chloe's. He held it out to her and she grabbed it, holding it tight in her talons. "Don't let them get hurt!" He shouted as he was approaching faster and faster. He could make out people now. Buildings. A town surrounded by waterfalls and rivers. Even if he hit the water at this rate he was going to be turned into mist. Well, what a way to go! Sorry, folks! The show's been canceled and there will be no refunds! He hissed and moved his arms to his face, thinking idly that it would do nothing to save his life but it did make him feel a bit better. He heard Chloe screech above him, and he hit the ground. Softly. Well, not softly. He felt the impact through every inch of his body, but nothing was broken. He didn't even really hear the screams of the people around him as he slowly moved his hands to under his chest and pushed himself up onto shaking legs. He took in a few deep breaths, gripping his chest and resting his other hand on his knee. Alive. He was alive! He felt Chloe land on his shoulder, still holding the belt with his team in one of her talons. Sebastian felt people rush to him, one shaking his shoulder as he looked up, blinking. He struggled to find words, nothing coming out. "Stunned! Space, please! Space!" Chloe chattered, waving her wings as people slowly backed up. He took a moment, straightening his back. Several deep breaths. Okay... bad first impression to wherever the hell this was. Didn't look like any place he had been. Sebastian checked his Rotom phone, the poor thing thankfully working but... no service. Okay. Not great. Sure, this was fine. He could do this. He plastered on a huge smile and put his hands on his hips, ignoring the thought of how his hair and face may look right now. "Hello, everyone! Pleasure to meet you, my name is Sebastian. I would like to humbly request that someone points me to a doctor." His legs gave out from under him and Sebastian collapsed, his vision going black as the shock finally caught up to him. The last thing he heard was Chloe crying out for help, her talons hopping around on his back. Silly bird... When you become untouchable, you're unable to touch

Post by Auberon Dechiel on Oct 11, 2024 4:07:50 GMT
It had been such a busy day. Auberon had never been the kind to enjoy being on camera, nor had his best friend, Devereux. Instead, the two had allowed the spotlight at the Mistveil Laboratory to be taken by one of their much more outgoing colleagues; one of the field researchers who were bringing in some of the Paldean Pokemon to begin with. It allowed for someone camera friendly to be interviewed, and freed up the pair's time to work with the Pokemon themselves, opening up both exam room space, and the outside grounds of the laboratory to observe and examine the Pokemon on both a clerical scale and a natural one. It was… remarkable. There were still so many mysteries when it came to Pokemon in the Deprin region — where they had gone, why they had gone, why they returned, what happened, what was different… and of course, the newest question of where had these new Pokemon appeared from? Devereux had an intense passion for the research and searching headlong for those answers, so Auberon had been more than happy to let the taller man take the lead on things. It was inspiring to watch, and a beautiful curiosity. It was also just a lot. By the time afternoon had rolled around, Auberon desperately needed a break. He loved his work — dearly — but a full morning under public scrutiny while trying to focus was beginning to wear on his nerves. Devereux had shooed him off, telling him to get some fresh air and take a walk; he himself was fine with finishing up as the craze of the morning winded down and things leveled out again. There was plenty of data to go over later. And so, Auberon had. Egg removed from the lab incubator and tucked safely into a portable case slung over his shoulder, and Argente released from his Pokeball, Auberon stepped outside into the sunlight. The little dragon shook out his scales with a happy growl, did a big stretch, and the pair was off. It was a beautiful day, when one wasn't trapped in the sterile environment of the Laboratory. The sun was out, the sky had the kind of clouds you imagined shapes in, the breeze was just perfect, and— "Oh! Dr. Dechiel! Over here! Can you spare a few minutes to chat with Mr. Alex here and tell us a little about this Pawmi?"— …goddamnit.Back straight, smile warm and inviting, posture easy, just a little tilt, and, "Of course! I'd be more than happy to chat. Alex, was it? Dr. Dechiel, senior medical for the Lab. A pleasure."It was both a blessing and a curse that the interview didn't last long. Alex was interrupted by a commotion rising up around the camera crew, echoed by distant screams somewhere up the road towards the park that was part of the Mistveil University campus. After a hand raised to his earpiece to listen to someone, Alex looked back towards him, then back at the camera again, seeming to stammer over the update. "Sorry… I'm… getting news that someone has… fallen out of the sky!? They're… they're alive but…""Someone has what!?" Auberon whipped around on the reporter in shock. "Alice. Take care of things here.""Yes sir," the tech nods. "I'm sorry everyone, but—"Transmission be damned or otherwise, Auberon was already gone, taking off down the street with his Jangmo-o hot on his heels. It could be any kind of emergency. A suicide jump, or a stupid college stunt gone wrong, or Arceus forbid, one of their techs like Miss Casey falling off of her Pidgeot — his feet flew over the asphalt, presence of mind only present enough to protect the Egg from being jolted by impact. By the time he turned the corner and paused to look, the incident was already clear. There was a fair crowd of people in the park in the grass — both typical city goers, and university students enjoying the day as they scurry from class. A veritable panic was going through the onlookers, and in the center of them was a prone body. Swearing, Auberon took off again, skipping a few steps on the way down. "Argente, please help," he says as he approaches. The Jangmo-o leaps out in front, shaking himself to clang his scales in melody, drawing attention to himself and his approaching trainer. "I'm a doctor — hey, doctor, back up please, give us space! Thank you, Hen — yes, I'm a doctor!"As the people spread out a little bit, Argente clacking his teeth at anyone trying to crowd in, Auberon drops to his knees in front of the unconscious individual, raising his hands gently to the Chatot still perched on him. "Hey — hey, it's okay, breathe sweetheart, I'm here to help. I'm gonna help your trainer, just hang in there." First thing to do was check for pulse. Steady, still breathing. The next was checking the man's head for any immediate injury from the fall — when none was found, a quick scan over his body found no outlying immediate injuries elsewhere either. Okay."Hey, you — you, yes. You see the post over there? Hit the emergency service button, and then go up to that building, right there, and find a faculty member. Now! Hang in there, bud, help is here. Where's my damn phone…" Auberon patted his pockets down for a minute before pulling his phone out as the bystander takes off, speed-dialing his first contact as he continued to examine the individual. "Devereux?""Aubie? What's wrong? I thought you went for a—""There's someone passed out in the park over by the university campus. Get a room ready, the Lab's closer than the hospital and just as equipped." "What? Oh my god, of course, immediately. What happened?" "Reporter said — hey all of you. What happened? Someone said he fell out of the sky. Yes? Is that accurate? How far — okay. Did you hear that?" "Heard and moving. We'll be ready." "Thanks, Ru."
— Blessedly close to the Laboratory, not much time had passed by the time that services had arrived and the unknown trainer with the Chatot had been transported to the Lab. Devereux was out, fending off any outside influence and the DNN with what little information was available, vying for space and privacy. In the room itself, Auberon had gotten to work. Before he did anything, he was taking vitals. Blood pressure, temperature, the works. He looked over the Chatot too; she seemed fine, if not shaken from what he could see. Any immediate spine injury or head trauma had been ruled out on the scene, as absolutely miraculous as it was given eyewitness testimony. But one could never be too safe. Argente was curled up with the Egg incubator in one of the room's chairs, watching his trainer quietly. As Auberon went about doing the work to get the vitals, he looked to the trainer's bird. Chatot were a remarkably intelligent species, capable of human speech. And this one had been calling for help, glued to her person's side. He glanced to the belt full of Pokeballs, safe on the exam room's counter, and back to the Chatot. "Okay. Things are going to be alright. It's safe, now. While I'm checking your human over, sweetheart, can you tell me anything? Who he is? What happened?"

Afternoon || Clear || Arti Chloe had taken a defensive position while chattering for help, pecking at anyone that was just here to gawk at her trainer instead of actually assist. The phones were the most annoying part. She considered using Uproar but... she... couldn't remember how. Surely it wasn't that hard! She had done it millions of times before but the move just slipped her mind. Annoying. Instead, she settled down with her wings out, trying to block the cameras as she continued to call out. "Help! Help! Assistance required!" These people were really annoying her now. Half a thought to let out one of Sebastian's other pokemon. Rapture would probably do something smart like Sucker Punch or Perish Song or, or- Her eyes watched as the crowd parted, a melody sounding. Oh! A Jangmo-o! A fellow musician, how promising! And this fellow--she recognized the word. Doctor. Yet as she folded her wings while on Sebastian's back she leveled this man with the famous Chatot glare and a tilt of her head. Very intimidating yes. With her chipped and scarred beak and talons. Very fearsome. But maybe not so much on the back of one passed out trainer. Oh, Sebastian. Not weak of heart, surely, but that fall would have made anyone pass out. As if in acceptance for handling her trainer, she immediately flew to the tall man's shoulder and settled down, watching carefully. Every instance that she deemed was too rough or not careful enough came with a soft peck to the top of his head. Not enough to hurt, just enough to give a warning that it could hurt if she damn well wanted it to. With a sigh, she went along for the ride as her trainer was transported and soon it was blessedly quiet. She gave a whistle as she flew back over to Sebastian, walking along his chest, whistling a tune of a song he would sometimes sing while doing his make-up. She stretched her wings out and then gave a barrel roll of of him and onto the bed, looking back up at... what was his name? Doctor? Strange name. She would have to have a word with his parents about that. Chloe looked around again, giving a nod to Argente and a wing flap of hello before her eyes glared back at Doctor-Human. Chloe considered the questions, translating each word said as carefully as she could. The accent was different than Sebastian's or the therapist from Kanto. But she could still manage it. Another whistle as she moved to Sebastian and began to lightly kick him, just enough to use her beak to fish out his wallet as she dropped it on the edge of the bed. "Identification!" She said, holding out a wing as if presenting it. She tilted her head and gave a click of her tongue, shifting on her talons. "Travel. Plane. Fell." Was that good enough? Another whistle. "Bright light, fog, sky." She spread her wings and mimicked the sounds she had heard. One moment she was in her pokeball, safely tucked away with the others, then from the outside she heard a loud snap. It rattled off of her tongue like a gunshot. Then a whoosh. The unmistakable sound of a pokeball activating and letting what was inside out. A shrill whistle. She stopped and clicked her beak again, tilting her head to the side to look at Auberon with a wide eye before it narrowed again. She tried to find the words, shifting again on her talons. How could she say this? It was easy for her to imagine and translate in her native tongue but... only one word came to mind. "Scared."The wallet was very old, cracked leather that looked like it had been through hell and back. The inside had a single credit card from a strange company, a travel insurance card, some poke-dollars not native to Deprin, some pictures of him with people and pokemon, and finally his ID that was made from a firm, durable plastic with some information, including his birthday, the issue date, and expiration. Sebastian O'Hannigan, Galarian native. Behind the ID a plane ticket had been tucked, from Galar to Alola--one way trip. As if on cue, Sebastian sat up with a gasping breath, clutching his chest a moment as he blinked several times. He took a moment, calming his breathing before he looked at Chloe. "Ey! Clo!" The Chatot gave a happy whistle and jumped up onto his shoulder, turning around and spreading her wings as she began to whistle a tune. He gave her head a little scritch and then looked at Auberon, giving a small smile. "Hello there, darling! I apologize... how did I-""Brought," Chloe said confidently. She pointed a wing to Auberon. "Name: Doctor.""I assure you his name is not 'Doctor'," Sebastian retorted as he slowly got into a better sitting position, rubbing the back of his head. Agh, it ached. She puffed out her chest. "Doctor!""People are not named 'doctor', Clo, its a title!" The Chatot pecked him, earning a hiss of pain. "Yeah, well..." He looked at Auberon, eyes going to the Jangmo-o and the egg. He gave a smile and put his legs over the side of the bed. "Pardon me, doctor, my name's Sebastian... thanks for getting me off the dirt. I'm guessing I blacked out?" Chloe nodded. "Well... thanks, darling! Now, pardon me, I really need to call my agent-- she's going to throw a fit when I'm not there in Alola with everyone else." He took out his rotom phone and then frowned. "No service... tch. Typical Vicinity-Mobile. Is there a pay phone nearby?" He moved to get up, only to get a fierce peck to his head as Chloe flapped her wings, glaring at him. "Okay! Okay! I'm sitting! Goodness..."When you become untouchable, you're unable to touch

Auberon scratched his neck and sighed, looking at his clipboard again, and then once more to the Chatot. He watched the little scarred up bird totter along her trainer's chest, whistling… and he chuckled as she barrel rolled right off. At least she was in good spirits, away from the crowd. And he seems stable, aside from fainting… Argente inclined his head from his seat with a little croon of returned greeting, before he sat up quietly to watch. "Ah — thank you, darling." Auberon smiled at her as he reached out to gently pick up the proferred wallet. It was no brand he had seen before, and as he listened, he found himself… confused. Concerned. He didn't recognize a single thing in this wallet. A strange currency, unknown companies… the photos were useful at least — perhaps Pokemon in the belt that belonged to this person? The Chatot was present in one of the photos; Auberon looked up, brow creased as he fished the ID out of the wallet. The things she said, noises she made… Well, it almost sounded like the plane had crashed, or that there was some kind of hideous malfunction. But if that were the case, there would be wreckage, and every emergency service in the area would be responding. And even if it had been a case of someone opening a door to the plane and shoving this trainer out of it… there had been no flights overhead, and passenger planes were so uncommon to begin with. It could be an accident involving a Pokemon, but… Slowly, his eyes went back to the ID, fingers gently sliding the plane ticket he'd also accidentally pulled out into view. Sebastian O'Hannigan… "Well," he said softly to the bird, "It's all okay now. You don't have to be scared, now. The danger is over…" the doctor trailed off as he continued to read. Birth date from… decades ago? That couldn't be right. Auberon's gaze slid back up to the trainer again. Now, he knew cosmetic surgeries were a thing. But there was no physical way that the listed date matched this individual's physical appearance, surgery or otherwise. But there was more. The notation… Galarian native. His eyes drew to the ticket behind the ID. An unknown air company… from Galar… to Alola. "…Alola," Auberon breathed, barely audible. "But I don't… how could that be—"He was interrupted from his reverie, almost leaping out of his own skin, when this Sebastian very suddenly sat up with a gasp. His heart felt like it was hammering, and he carefully tucked both ticket and ID back into the wallet, shutting it. It took Auberon a minute to remember how to even speak. He was simply staring at the man as he sat up and recentered himself. A voice in the back of his mind reminded him that to gawk was rude, no matter how impossible the circumstance, so Auberon offered a friendly smile, leaning on a leg. "Hello yourself." He hummed softly, watching and listening to the back and forth between… Clo, was it? The Chatot? Ah… short for something, likely — Clo… not Cleo — Chloe? "It's what any decent person would do. I'm glad I was within earshot. Dr. Auberon Dechiel — more than blacked out, from what I hear, but that was what made you my patient, yes."Auberon's smile faded immediately as Sebastian moved to stand up, and Argente stood as well, the little Alolan dragon ready to act until Chloe pecked his patient back into sitting. Something in his chest twanged with pride, or approval, or… something. "Your little one has the right idea — you just passed out. You can sit up, and… here." He picked up a water bottle off of the counter, and offered both it and Sebastian's wallet to him. "But no standing. Not until I check you over for concussion. If what's been said about you falling out of the sky is true, it's nothing short of a Xerneas-blessed miracle you're unharmed, but I want to check you for concerns of a concussion anyway."The doctor looked back at the chart on his clipboard. There was no spaces for anything outside of a Deprinite, so it wasn't… the most useful. Sighing, he tossed it onto the counter before grabbing his little light from his lab coat pocket, stepping over in front of his patient. Before bending to be at Sebastian's height, he gestured over to his Pokemon partner and the egg. "This is Argente, and… to be determined. Look straight ahead? I'd like to check your pupils. You're free to use one of the Lab's phones once you're cleared. I'd rather not take a chance with a potential head injury. Now…"He pauses, and clears his throat. "I did check your ID. But I'd like to be certain. Could you confirm your identity, please?"

"It was sad music. But it waved its sadness like a battle flag. It said the universe had done all it could, but you were still alive." -Terry Pratchett, soul music They tell me I'm a god, I'm lost in the facade
He caught the stare and gave a wink and a grin in return before turning his attention back to Chloe. Once the bird was done pecking him, Sebastian put one leg under the other and held his shin, giving a sigh. "Don't remind me... terrifying..." he still couldn't piece together what had happened. This sure didn't feel like a playful illusion. No, this was real. He was sure of it. But how did he survive then? He was plummeting from 30,000 feet in the air and then... Sebastian shook it off, deciding to focus on the here and now.
"Well, thank you very much, Dr. Auberon, I greatly appreciate you looking after me." He happily took the water bottle, giving it a gentle sip before tightening the lid and pressure the cool plastic to his neck. Ah, much better. He could feel the headache throbbing from his forehead all the way down to his shoulders. He gave a nod to the Jangmo-o and the egg in turn. "Pleasure, Argente and To Be Determined, mighty fine pokemon you both are." Sebastian motioned to Chloe. "This is Chloe the Chatot. She's a sweetie." Chloe puffed out her chest feathers. "And a menace." She gave Sebastian a little peck. "Ow! Clo, come on, I have an awful headache."
"Sorry," Chloe said with a flap of her wings, looking concerned. She started to preen his messy hair. Sebastian accepted the grooming and sat up a bit straighter, taking the water bottle off his neck and looking straight ahead as told.
"Lab?" He asked. "So, not a hospital? Got it." Sebastian took in a breath. "Ah... one of these things. Okay um... My name is Sebastian O'Hannigan. No middle name. I am 30 years old and I was born in the Crown Tundra in Galar at King Horse Hospital-" he continued, giving his birthday, the current year as he knew it, and then paused. "-Uum... I guess you want to test my knowledge for current events so... the Alola League has finished forming and officially joined the Universal League... was it 5 years ago? And the current champion of Sinnoh is Cynthia," he shivered. "She kicked our ass, didn't she, love?"
Chloe nodded. "Kicked our ass..." she lamented and gave a sad whistle after. The battle was rough. They had made it through two of her pokemon before that damn Garchomp had crushed his team, including his Alolan Ninetails. Ugh. It was not a good look for his public image, but the battle was a lot of fun. He looked forward to challenging her again.
"And before you ask, I promise I have been fully vaccinated before going to Alola, I keep very well up to date and I had a pre-flight physical before I left. I don't do any drugs and I had a blood test like a month ago. My doctor will be happy to send you my medical charts if you need them."
He sniffed and blinked a few times. "The only thing that feels wrong other than slightly hurting knees is this headache. I didn't have one in the plane. Well..." he thought. "I did, but I didn't really pay it any mind. I was going to take a nap before we landed." He reached for his belt on the table and put it back on. At least his team was safe and sound thanks to Chloe's care. "I'm afraid my passport is in my bag on the plane so I can't give that to you or your border patrol." A beat. "Doctor, where am I? That'll help me know how much a plane out of here will cost."

"No need for thanks. I'm a doctor, it's what I do. But you're welcome — and thank you for … unfortunate circumstances aside, getting me out of an interview." Auberon snorted, even as he caught Argente giving him a disapproving eye. "And a pleasure to formally be introduced, Miss Chloe."Auberon went about checking Sebastian's pupils as he listens — no sign of trauma from there. They react as expected. Then he raised a hand, one finger up to the side. "Follow my finger with your eyes, don't move your head." As he listened, he is careful to not let his brow furrow or concern show. The things this man was saying… no, that — none of these things can be possible. Galar? The Alola League? Sinnoh? "Good. Thank you. You can relax a moment." …I fear a moment might be all you or myself have to relax, if what you say is true, he thought. Auberon crossed back to the examination computer, typing notes and something else into it as he glanced back towards Sebastian. "Yes — it was closer than the hospital, nearly on our front step. But we've just as good of resources." There were normally other tests he would do, but… there remained the absolutely enormous question of what exactly was happening here. This went far beyond — and with physical evidence — a simple accident. "I'm going to put in for a CT scan. By all accounts, headache aside, you seem miraculously healthy. But I would rather err on the side of caution. Can you give me the date? Day, month, year. Day of the week. And the time, please."He sighed. There's — there's really no medical protocol for this. He could call the psychiatrist, but again, there being physical evidence put a rub on everything. An individual falls out of nowhere, with eye-witnesses, from the sky where there is no plane overhead. He is miraculously seemingly uninjured, but traditional recall tests are — impossible, with what would be considerably loony answers, were it not for the very real and very foreign… everything, in his wallet. And his Pokemon, a very intelligent Chatot, can corroborate. For the first time since the creatures' return, Auberon felt entirely out of his depth. "You are currently in the as of now only regional Pokemon Laboratory, located in Mistveil City." Auberon pulled up the wheeling chair by the computer and gently perched on the edge of it, going about checking Sebastian's knees for injury before looking up to him, sitting back a bit. "...I would rather err with caution, Sebastian, because I cannot verify the information you've given me. I don't really…" He frowned, and tapped his fingers against his knee. How to say? What to say? "You've… hm. I fear perhaps, we may be on similar pages of confusion. Now — let it be known, I do believe you, but… Mistveil City is in the Deprin Region. There's not been contact — much less planes — from other regions in... a very long time."

"It was sad music. But it waved its sadness like a battle flag. It said the universe had done all it could, but you were still alive." -Terry Pratchett, soul music They tell me I'm a god, I'm lost in the facade
Oh? An interview? What had Sebastian fallen into now? "Well, if you need a face for the TV, darling, I have you covered! I'm no stranger to the camera." Between concerts, modeling, music videos, guest appearances on shows, and pictures with fans Sebastian was fairly certain his entire soul had been chipping away, piece by piece, through photos and videos. If one believed such a thing. Even Chloe had a knack for it as she puffed up her feathers in the greeting and gave a little nod, watching intently as Sebastian followed instructions. How proud of him she was!
Sebastian let out a breath as he leaned back, crossing his legs. He took to watching the doctor from the corner of his eye. Something about this place seemed... off. Call it living on the streets for a good portion of his teen and young adult years, but this place was just... obviously not a hospital. Clearly a lab like he had been told. But he had never seen a lab like this one before. It was hard to describe, but this place must not see much traffic for starter pokemon. The entire vibe was just off. He could tell Chloe felt it too with the way her talons dug into his shoulder. Not enough to hurt, but just enough to let him know she was here. Grounding him.
"CT scan? Oh, I'll have to take out my tongue piercing then. I also have two fillings--they're not metal ones, mind you, but I know that can cause problems with one of those... Though I would honestly rather do it at an Alolan hospital if you can arrange it." He had to get going. He let out a sign as he gave the day, month, and year. "As for time... let's see... when I fell or now? When I was in the plane and went to sit, I remember checking my phone and it was 10:43 AM GST--Galarian Standard Time. Landing... being unconscious made that difficult but, Rotom-dear?" The phone activated and rose up to his eye level, displaying the time. "1:22 PM GST according to my phone." Wow, he must had been out for a while then. Or had been falling for a while. He didn't know.
Mistveil? Sebastian's geography was not that good. He tried to filter through his regions and the cities he had gone to, but this was not one of the.m. Well, that wasn't unusual. He didn't go everywhere on a world tour, after all. He watched the doctor carefully, uncrossing his legs for the inspection of his knee joints.
A jolt of anger shot through his chest very suddenly at the next sentences he heard from Dr. Auberon. Sebastian let out a sharp, barking laugh. Chloe startled a little, looking at her trainer. Her eyes narrowed a little at him before turning her attention Auberon. "Disappointment, aggravation," she said.
"That's right, Clo. Disappointment. Good job." He took in a breath and raised his hands, palms down as he tried to think about what to say. "Dr. Auberon, I know it's been... many, many years since the tragedy. But..." he cause a breathless laugh as he shook his head. "We appear to be around the same age, correct me if I'm wrong, of course, but joking about it or making up lies about it is something the kids do now on Chat-Tok. It's not... it's not funny. The people of Deprin lost their lives that day and I don't appreciate jokes about it, okay?"
Chloe looked at Auberon, studying him closely, eyes narrowing. She couldn't read others as well as her own trainer, but she was going to try anyway. She could tell Sebastian was frustrated. It wasn't fear. Sebastian had full confidence in his entire team--after all, they had taken on the gym challenges in other regions before. Chloe herself was a very adept fighter even if she was having some brain fog about her more powerful moves. But something didn't feel normal... she pawed at Sebastian's shoulder, giving a worried whistle. Why hadn't Rapture come out of the great ball yet? Or Milo? Surely they sensed Sebastian was getting upset!
"So, now that we've established that boundary, please... Tell me where the fuck I am. Please."

Auberon hummed quietly in acknowledgement to the piercing and fillings, taking note mentally even as he thought about everything else going on in the whirlwind that was his mind. Who exactly was this person? What was happening, here? Did Mistveil Hospital lose a psych ward patient? But that didn't explain all of the collective evidence that he had fallen out of the sky… Something in him genuinely believed Sebastian, but there were simply so many questions. He opened his mouth, prepared to quietly inform the mystery trainer and his Chatot that there was, unfortunately, no reaching an Alolan hospital, much less Alola on the whole… or any other region for that matter — and his mouth snapped shut again a moment later, brow furrowing in that quiet way he had of only showing just enough emotion to be personable without letting the full breadth of what he was feeling be known. "…Excuse me?" His eyes turned to Chloe, his own eyes narrowing just that tiny bit. He could understand disappointment at being somewhere so unintended, perhaps, but aggravation? It was far from his fault what happened! Across the room, Argente went from laying down curled up with the egg incubator to sitting up, his eyes on his trainer, ready to step in if he had to. Auberon quietly gestured a hand at him, stilling the little dragon as he listened, he himself watching Sebastian and measuring his breaths. "I assure you, Sebastian. I am far from joking." He did not refute their similarity in age, though the year on Sebastian's ID had made that improbable. Nor did he say anything about this mention of… 'Chat-Tok', though he didn't know what that was, either. There was a lot of things he didn't know. It was semantics, at this point, and minor enough to not be worth arguing. "I, like many Deprinites, don't care for jokes about the Rapture either."Auberon straightened his back as he sat up, and then sighed, looking over to the Jangmo-o and standing. "Argente, love. My wallet?" The little dragon chirped, before digging into the bag settled next to himself and the incubator. Once Auberon's wallet had been fished out, the doctor retrieved it from his Pokemon to remove his ID, and glanced back down at the bag. "Alani?" With a little whir, his Rotom phone slipped out of his bag, lifting itself up to plop itself into his open waiting palm. "Thank you, darlings."The doctor walked back over, holding out both his personal ID, and his badge from his labcoat for Sebastian to examine. Both confirmed his identity, with the former registering him as a native citizen of Aspermont City, Deprin, and the latter confirming his residency with the Mistveil Pokemon Laboratory as senior physician. "Normally, I would find myself in a position of believing you to be making a joke in poor taste, seeing as Deprin hasn't had outside contact with the world since the Rapture. But I find myself believing you. I am not clever enough to come up with so complex of a ruse in such a short time, so if you can't believe me, here are my identifiers, and I will repeat once again with all seriousness. Alani, if you'd pull up the map application, please?" The Rotom-Phone acquiesced, pulling up in front of Sebastian the regional map, which proceeded to zoom in to show Mistveil City on its screen. "You are currently in the Pokemon Laboratory of Mistveil City, located within the Deprin Region. The location you fell from was just down the street — thank you, Alani dear — there, near the university."There was a lot more Auberon could say, but much of it would drift into either aggressive-sounding or accusatory territory, which he was attempting to avoid. It didn't help that there was so much that he couldn't explain; everything he said, however, would appear as perfectly genuine in his body language and cadence. He wasn't lying. The entire situation was just… overwhelming, a bit beyond his — or anyone's, really — scope, and intensely beyond the pale.

"It was sad music. But it waved its sadness like a battle flag. It said the universe had done all it could, but you were still alive." -Terry Pratchett, soul music They tell me I'm a god, I'm lost in the facade
His patience was wearing thin. Sebastian sighed deeply and looked at his phone. The Rotom inside gave him a look back, one of worry and concern. As if the phone knew something he didn't. But Sebastian was a bit too exhausted to investigate it. He had just finished with a show, was running on very little sleep, had another show that was probably due to start soon and he wasn't there! The star of the show! Aggravating.
"Okay, I think I know what's going on," he said as he watched the 'doctor' turn around. "Call the police, please..." The Rotom phone tried, but the call didn't connect. Sebastian's brow furrowed as the Rotom seemed to shrug. "Well, go find the number, darling. Zip zap and what not! It's probably just a number blocker on the server." He held out his hand and caught the phone as the Rotom zapped out and into the nearest computer. In a split second they had returned, the phone lifting up again. Sebastian had been kidnapped before. There had been different plots here and there, but he always managed to get out of it with his team.
Chloe shuffled from foot to foot. "Sebastian... this is..." she struggled for the words. Auberon seemed truthful. None of this was a lie.
The Rotom phone rang and it was instantly picked up.
"Deprin Ranger Emergency Services, how can we hel-"
He hung up, biting the inside of his cheek. Any harder and he'd end up making himself bleed. The Rotom phone gave a sad tone as it floated there, Chloe looking more nervous now. The three of them looked up at Auberon and slowly took the documents. Sebastian looked them over, flexing the material just enough to prove it wasn't a cheap imitation... but there it was. Clear as day. Two pieces of identification for Deprin. And the map. Sebastian looked at his Rotom as it now pulled up the same map, gained from the lab computer.
He sat there for a long time, staring at the ID's and back at the map, brow furrowed. Chloe studied Sebastian and looked back at Auberon. "Scared," she said sadly. "Worried. Confused."
"That's accurate," Sebastian said, robotically giving the praise to help her perfect her duty as an emotional support pokemon. The practice had to be maintained or she'd lose the words. That was the thing with Chatots. They could learn a lot, but they had to stay in constant practice with everything they knew, a well-oiled machine. Just like learning another language. The study never stopped.
Sebastian handed the ID's back, bracing his hands against either side of him as he took to staring at the floor for a moment. Then he took in a breath. "It was called the Great Vanishing. One day Deprin was there and the next day it... wasn't. Just a large cloud that was also in the water, under the ground... no one could figure out how to break past it. Happened when I was a kid. I was eating cereal watching cartoons when the breaking news broadcast happened. My sister cried and my dad was enraged. I didn't really understand why at the time." He waved a hand and his Rotom phone searched his downloaded videos and pictures.
It found one of Sebastian on a plane, the camera looking out the window to a massive clouded area. Sebastian's voice came over the video 'And there it is! The giant cloud... mass... thing. We are not going to fly into it because we aren't crazy like everyone else. Fast travel spot my ass. So sorry if we're a little late to the concert, loves. Better safe and alive than whatever the hell's going on in there! Please remember to donate to your local Great Vanishing Research and Development Team as well. Okay, kisses!'
The video stopped and Sebastian put his head in his hands. "No... no this is not happening. I was on the other side of the planet! I can't be here. This isn't happening!"
