A Hedge Maze Appeared!
Despite the moon hanging high in the sky, the park was filled with life as people went to and fro. Parents leading their children to the smaller rides or taking them to try their hands at a game, friends gathering around to try to dunk for apples. And all the time the mascots of the park floated in the sky with sheer joy at the life and activity of their beloved park! Solrock and Lunatone made their rounds, following some guests around and posing for pictures with others. It was almost as if pokemon had never vanished! But that was neither here nor there. The real attraction was up on the grassy hills and near the beach. The area was usually preserved for onlookers to outdoor shows who didn't want to be in the fray or those that wanted to have a nice picnic and listen to the sea. But this time, the largest and flattest area had been reserved for the massive hedge maze. Eight foot tall and two feet thick hedges stood proudly and imposingly in the area. The rules were simple: five people could go into the maze at once and as people came out the other end, the one at the front would let others in. Yet the sheer size of the maze would make it difficult to run into anyone else. It wasn't too difficult, of course, given children liked to try their luck at the maze, but it was challenging. With ticket delivered to the attendant at the front and a quick run-down of the rules it was time to begin! At the very front of the maze was a large sign as well: Remember!
The Pokemon of Sol-Lune Park are friends, not enemies!

Cabrian had never tried a maze before - living on the water in a busy port town left little space for it. And since he began traveling, for school and beyond, he’d missed coming here to try it out. Never too late, his Dad would say, to try new things, though!
While he’s carrying a few of his team with him, he’s got one new little partner out and about. He and Ensign are still working through the little Galarian Ponyta’s nerves after leaving Salve Island, and he’d thought perhaps this might be a fun outing for trainer and pokemon, to relax and enjoy. Well, trainer, pokemon and egg, as the case may be. Are there proper holders and bags and things for pokemon eggs? Probably! Does that stop Cabe from keeping his little egg wrapped in a sling against his chest? Absolutely not. Worried constantly about the safety of the egg left in his possession, the man is not seen without it held close to the warmth of his own body.
The egg is safe, and Ensign watches his trainer settle it and nod. “Okay, Ensign. Ready?” The Ponyta is not a very vocal boy, but the gentle touch of his velvety nose to Cabe’s hip is more than enough. “Alright then, in we go!”
Trainer and pokemon move forward into the maze, looking around with each step until the first fork. “Which way, I wonder…”

A Hedge Maze Appeared!
The beginning of the maze was by far one of the hardest parts of the entire thing as it had three options laid out. Footprints from previous occupants going to and fro and not offering any help on the best route to take.
All paths had lanterns hanging from some of the hedge branches so each was well lit against the darkness. Really, the solution was probably... going to the right.... or perhaps the left? Maybe going straight was the best option?
Who knew! Only one way to find out! What will you do?

Cabe is not sure just what to expect, but he is ready! And he really hopes Ensign is too. It isn't long until he and the cautious Ponyta meet a fork in the hedges, and he stops to consider their options. He casts a look at his companion, smiling warmly. "It begins, Ensign! Which way shall we go? My aunt would say to stick to one wall the whole way through, but I don't know. We want to explore! What looks good, buddy?"
Ensign looks wary as he listens to his trainer, looking between him and the different directions open to them. Trainer said this is fun, that they get to see fun things. It just looks green. Which green way, trainer asks? All green. But all go somewhere? To something nice? Something fun? He is wary, but he decided to put faith in his trainer back in that awful place...green place can't be so bad.
Cabe watches Ensign patiently, letting the little one sort things out for himself, at his own pace. He's not going to be enthusiastically jumping into things so quickly, of course, but a little patience can help him move toward it, a little at a time. After a minute or two of visibly considering, the Ponyta cautiously steps toward the left path and looks back to Cabe. "Left? I think that's a good choice! I pick left a lot, too. Alright then, Ensign, let's give it a go!"

A Hedge Maze Appeared!
Taking the first turn resulted in a short little walk before the path made a sudden turn and then opened up to two more choices! Once more, it was to the right or to the left.
The footprints in the dirt offered no assistance as to which way would leave the maze and the hedges themselves were silent, rustling only in the gentlest of winds as the lanterns hung high off of their branches and the fog spread across the ground. It was a little spooky--until laughter came from deeper in the maze from other challengers.
But this did beg the question... right? Or left? What will you do?

It's not scary, but the silence and now fully surrounding hedges do give it an air of appropriate spookiness - until the silence is cut by laughter. Cabe releases a breath and smiles at the sound. Out of the corner of his eye, though, he spies movement and looks down to see Ensign staring at him. Cabe certainly can't speak pokemon, but he feels he knows what a need for reassurance looks like. "All is well, Ensign. You're okay. Remember what they told us? Five people in the maze at a time. That's just some other folks exploring too!" He reaches a hand out and Ensign bumps his nose against Cabe's palm almost immediately. He's really starting to be fond of this little gesture.
Once the Ponyta is settled, posture relaxing, Cabe turns his attention to the new fork in the road. Left and right...hm. "What do you think, buddy? Left again? Try right? There's no wrong answer, sweet boy." The Ponyta watches his trainer and listens, and doesn't move forward until Cabe finishes. Then he pauses, looking left, then right. He huffs a little exhale of his own, and flicks his right ear before slowly making his way to the right corner. He doesn't dare look around it yet. He stops short of it, turning around to see if his trainer is following him. "Okay!"
Cabe follows Ensign until they are side by side again, safely turning the right corner. "You're doing so great! I bet we'll find something really interesting, you and I."

A Hedge Maze Appeared!
Ah yes, a famous turn! Going to the right. Well, the odds of doing so were 50/50 of course, but taking such a route led down a short straight path and soon, another choice! This time, the maze made a sharp turn to the right but it also went straight ahead.
Both equally good, but also different this time around. After all, left and right were the common choices but amazingly there was only one turn... well, the maze up ahead would make another sharp turn if one went straight. To where? Who knew! Maybe to the exit, maybe to not the exit.
Decisions, decisions! What will you do?
