Mya "Rainbow" Saller
Full Name: Mya Saller
Nickname(s): Rainbow, Rain
Age: 23
Gender: Cis woman (She/Her)
Place of Origin: Famine
- - - -
Personality: Hard-headed, brash and stubborn. Mya has been considered a firecracker, even at a young age. Her rough and tumble exterior could be contributed to where she was raised. Famine is, after all, not a very safe place. But Mya herself doesn't see it that way. She finds her harshness and brashness not a product of living in Famine but a product of going outside of it. Used to being questioned and accused or talked down to, Mya has a habit of using her sharp tongue and wit to whip others in their bigoted thoughts. She is more than willing to fight her own battles, Pokemon or not. This attitude does not make her uncaring, as some might say. Mya cares a lot about her people and where she is from. She will not tolerate someone being threatened or harmed. She may not be the definition of nice, but she is kind. She is kind because choosing to do good among her own people, even those that have harmed her or others in the past, is the right thing to do. When Mya expresses her kindness, it is in the form of a protective stance over someone being hurt. It is her fighting back against those that harm others, Pokemon or human. It is her wanting the world to be better and knowing it can be. She does not do any of this because there is something in it for her but because it is decent. Mya will not say she is nice, but she will say she is kind. And kindness can take many different forms.
History: Mya grew up in a loving family. Although they had little, they did have each other. Her parents, hard working traders that ran a small caravan, ended up putting bread on the table most days. Working hard to provide her with some level of comfort and some toys. They did keep her close and under a watchful eye when she was a child. Famine was not a great place for young children, after all. They took Mya with them on most of their trips outside the city, introducing Mya to the outside world. It was here she gained a love of nature and camping, loving to hike up the mountains, jumping across streams. Returning home was always a struggle for her parents because, outside of Famine, Mya was able to be free and happy. Yet, inside the city, her movements were limited. That is, until she was a teenager.
Older and able to defend herself, her parents allowed her to wander around Famine as long as she came home at a certain time. Mya followed the rule. Out on her own, she learned how to fight and defend herself. Without Pokemon, there was nothing else to protect her. So Mya learned to protect herself. She learned how to get people to leave her alone. Her mannerisms and her attitude were formed out of an ability to survive in harsh conditions. Her attitude is what ended up getting her into trouble one day where she could proudly go home and say, to her loving parents, "You should see the other guy."
One particular fight that gave Mya her reputation in Famine is a fight that she knows she was on the moral high ground. One of Famine's well-known bullies, someone that often harassed the local kids and teens and older adults for no reason, was talking big. Bragging about how he found a pokeball and how he could let it out and end its life whenever he wanted. Mya overheard this and called the bully out. The one mistake that was made was one that ended up in a fight. The bully claimed he could let the Pokemon out and, because it had the pokeball, it would obey him and it may be able to harm Mya before it vanished.
Mya threw the first punch by tackling the man to the ground and proceeding to open a can of what the kids now call "whoop ass". During the fight, someone had picked up the pokeball. Mya continued the fight, getting some solid hits and getting hit herself. After the end of it, the bully ran off, ashamed at his loss and his humiliation. The person that picked up the pokeball, a gentle old man of the neighborhood, told her to have it. To protect it. And maybe, one day, claim it as her own.
Mya didn't agree with that. Whatever was in that pokeball--even if there was a Pokemon in it--it was not hers. It belonged to someone. So, she decided, if Pokemon ever came back she was going to find someone that could help her see if there was a Pokemon inside the pokeball and... then, see if the Pokemon would accept her as its trainer. If not? That's fine. As long as the Pokemon got a good home. For the past few years, she has protected that pokeball. It is always on her person, always under her protection. She has had to fight people off of her trying to get it, especially when Pokemon came back. But now? Now she needs to fulfill her promise to that pokeball and whatever is inside it.

Appearance Description: Mya is a dark skinned woman with vitiligo, most on her neck, chest, stomach, legs, back, arms and fingers. Her eyes are a teal green. Her white hair is shaved on the left side (her left). Her left eyebrow (her left) is cut down the center due to a scar that goes down her face. There is a second, smaller scar next to this under her eye and on her cheek. She wears a large grey jacket meant for the cold. She also wears a white tank top and dark green-grey cargo pants. She has two rainbow bracelets, a rainbow lanyard attached to her belt, and rainbow shoe laces. She also wears a leather bracelet that holds her pokeballs. Her arms are littered with scratch scars or bite scars. She wears study, black leather combat boots, meant for long distance hiking. They are well-worn but in good condition for their age.
