The Pokeball hit the Poliwag, absorbed it, and ... opened again after shaking only once. That was a nope from that Poliwag. It stumbled for a moment, seeming a bit confused by what had just happened to it -- after all, it had been a long time since wild Pokemon had faced Pokeballs, or human interference at all.

Then the Poliwag got its bearings and Bubbled again. The bubbles hit Eon with loud pops, leaving him staggering, barely on his feet. An angry "Wag!" followed the bubbles.

The Poliwag gurgled angrily when it saw Eon heal again. If it could talk, it would probably demand to know what it was going to take to finally bring him down -- how many times it had to hit this stupid little dragon.

After a moment's furious wiggling, the Poliwag once again slapped Eon hard with its tail, though it winced a little as it did so -- it had forgotten about the damage to its tail from Eon's bite. Unlike Eon, it didn't have any nice trainer to heal it up. Boo.

The Poliwag yelped as Eon bit its tail again, this time on the other side. Ouch! As Eon released it, it staggered back, whimpering. "Poli liii ..."

It looked like it wanted to flee, but it let out one last Bubble, a note of determination in its eyes. If this didn't take Eon out, though, then the Poliwag would truly know that it had bitten off more than it could chew. It would have to go nurse its wounds somewhere.

The Poliwag squealed as Eon got in another bite, this time on its body instead of its tail. That was enough for this particular Poliwag, no matter how feisty it might have been to start off with. It turned tail and ran back into the reeds, quickly disappearing into the lake. It needed to find a place to heal up and hide before any larger predators got to it ...

That left Eon and Mya alone on the berm, free to take a little rest before continuing on their journey. Though they might want to find a spot out of the rain.

As Eon and Mya walked through the swamp, they passed a short, squat plant with broad, thick leaves, sitting in a few inches of water to the left of their path. As they moved past, the plant began to rustle, and then one of the leaves separated itself from the rest and out stepped a dainty green form.

Unlike the other wild Pokemon, the Chikorita did not immediately attempt to attack Mya and Eon, just looked at them curiously. "Chii?"

The rain splashed down onto its big leaf as it awaited their response.

The Chikorita seemed quite startled and even a little upset to immediately face an attack. "Chiii!"

When Eon opened his mouth and released it from his bite, it retreated a little, then planted its feet in the dirt and growled at Eon. The effect was more cute than intimidating, especially as it looked up at Eon and Mya with determination in its big eyes. It might not have started this fight, but it was sure going to finish it.

The Chikorita recoiled from Eon's Bite, but it seemed slightly encouraged by the fact that his bite wasn't as strong this time as last time. It growled again, perhaps thinking that if it continued to growl, eventually Eon's attacks would become harmless and it could get on with its day. However, this growl failed to have the same effect as before, perhaps because the Chikorita slipped in the mud as it growled and ended up aiming its ire at the ground.
