The Chikorita flinched as the Pokeball flew towards it, then opened its eyes and blinked in the instant that the Pokeball first bounced off of it, confused that the projectile hadn't been a weapon. Then it vanished into the Pokeball in the usual flash of light, but it didn't stay there long before the Pokeball burst open again. Ooh, no dice. Looking a bit disoriented, the Chikorita let out another growl, this one properly directed at Eon. It was just so cute -- who could possibly attack it?

Aw, crap. That didn't go as planned. Mya got one of her last two pokeballs ready. Alright, if this failed and it kept lowering Eon's attack, then they could probably afford to attack one more time... just to weaken it a little bit more, but maybe..
Mya threw the pokeball again, feeling a bit satisfied when Eon understood now and stood at the ready to defend compared to fully attack. He looked back at her and gave a curious gurgle. She couldn't explain it but, she really liked this green thing. It was cute, and probably would make a great pokemon.

It was close this time: the Chikorita vanished into the Pokeball, which sat still for a moment, then shook once, twice ... and opened again, the Chikorita emerging in a burst of light. Again it looked around, uncertain of what had just happened. It pawed at the ground briefly as if making sure that the solid earth was still there after its moment in the Pokeball. Then, once more, the Chikorita growled at Eon, just absolutely adorably. How could he possibly hit that cute little face?

Crap! Mya sucked in air between her teeth and grabbed the last pokeball she had on her. Alright... had to play this smart... the thing had kept using Growl, which if Mya was correct about, made Eon's attacks a little weaker. He did seem to be a little more hesitant now. Maybe that was good.
"Alright, he just needs a bit more convincing!" Mya said. "Eon! Use Bite, but be careful!" Eon looked at her, seeming to understand. If he hit too well, the chikorita would faint and this would have been for nothing. But if he hit just right, then the chikorita would be weak but not be tempted to flee. That would give Mya just a bit more of a chance to catch it with her last pokeball. If they missed then encounter then, well, that was fine. But Mya could hope.
Shaking himself and preparing for a charge, Eon soon lunged forward, intent on biting chikorita in one last attempt to weaken it down just a bit more.

Eon bit the Chikorita again, but it clearly didn't do as much damage this time -- just a little nibble. Still, the Chikorita was starting to look pretty tired. Mya could see its eyes darting around as it considered ways to extricate itself from this situation, which, to be fair, it hadn't exactly asked for in the first place. Instead of running off just yet, though, the Chikorita growled at Eon yet again. Unlike its previous attempts, however, this cute growl didn't seem to do much -- perhaps because Eon really couldn't bite it any more gently, couldn't pull his punches any more than he already was. The Chikorita seemed not to realize this; it certainly didn't have much strategy in mind as it fought.

That had to be enough, Mya thought to herself. Maybe this would actually work this time and if not, well, she'd be disappointed in herself. She tossed the last pokeball she had on her, actually finding herself biting her lip and her palms grow a bit sweaty as she waited to see the outcome. Even Eon was waiting patiently, wondering if this was it... what would the outcome be?
They waited... Mya counting the seconds and the rolls of the pokeball...

Mya's aim was true: the Pokeball hit the Chikorita gently on the forehead. The Pokemond vanished into the ball for the third and -- one way or another -- final time. The ball wobbled once, twice, thrice, and ... fell still. The light on the front turned from red to white and then faded away. Yes! Chikorita was caught! Congratulations, Mya; your team just expanded into the Grass type, and you made a new friend!

It was intense, each second seeming like minutes as Mya and Eon watched with bated breath. Then... click! Eon let out a small gasp and turned to Mya. A massive smile grew on his face when he saw Mya's own expression: a smile growing bigger until she pumped a fist in the air and had one of her trademark wicked grins.
"Hell yes!" she said, scooping up the pokeball and putting it in her bag. Two pokemon in one trip! That had to be some sort of luck! She then scooped up Eon, holding him close in a hug. "You did great! We got ourselves some new traveling companions!" Given she wasn't too excited at first about the tynamo but... something seemed to click. She now had a team! Maybe not the team of her dreams, but a team! It was a good start. She put Eon down and made sure her bag was on her back, nice and secure.
"Alright, how about we get out of this rain and celebrate at a Pokemon Center where we can rest up?" She asked. Eon gave a happy gurgle, spitting some embers at the suggestion. Mya smiled and began to walk out of the swamp. All in all? This was a great trip.
