time: day (midmorning) weather: rain characters: Mya "Rainbow" Saller , wild Pokemon battle mechanics: fully rolled
The rain followed on Mya's heels as she traveled to Broadmarsh, seemingly determined to keep her slightly damp. When Mya reached the marsh proper, it was raining steadily, the sun rarely peeking through from behind a layer of dingy cottony clouds. Still, the marsh seemed fairly lively, with croaking calls echoing across it -- some kind of frog or bird Pokemon, perhaps. The rain made it hard to hear any movements in the brush, or at least to tell whether the various rustlings were Pokemon moving around or just raindrops.

She always liked the rain. The way it sounded, the way it felt. Add in some distant, gentle thunder and Mya would be perfectly content. She could sleep anywhere it rained. Besides, her jacket was made to be water resistant for cooler climates. Something her family had spent ages saving up for. It was a gift when she was fourteen, and even now, as a full grown woman, it was too big. Oh well, that just made it more comfortable.
Mya looked down to Eon, the bagon not bothered by the rain. This was the second time the weather had been anything but clear when they were out.... oh well... "Alright, bud, let's try this stupid 'fishing' thing. I'm only going to give it five minutes before I quit," she said. Eon stared at her. "Fine, until I catch an old boot or some algae or something."
They walked in deeper into the swamp, Mya choosing their path as Eon followed. She picked a spot under a large tree and by a body of water before she sat down and put together the fishing rod she had bought. It was collapsible which was pretty cool. Easy to carry. She sat down as Eon curled himself closer to her side, scooting under her jacket to keep out of the rain. Mya caste the fishing line and took a breath. And waited, trying to keep an ear and eye out around here. Pokemon did live here, after all.

Mya sat there a while before the line moved at all, but finally it twitched and spun, a Pokemon tugging intently on it. The rod creaked as Mya pulled it in, and then flopping on the bank was a rather upset Tynamo who had just been trying to get a free meal. The Pokemon pulled itself up onto its keel and looked at Mya with annoyance. "Tyn!"
The Tynamo sent a beam of electricity straight at Eon and Mya, and the Charge Beam hit Eon squarely, making the air around the Bagon sizzle.
OOC: A wild Tynamo appears! Since the wild Tynamo's Speed is higher than Eon's, the Tynamo moves first! The wild Tynamo uses Charge Beam! It hits for 6 damage, leaving Eon at 7/13 HP  Tynamo // Level 7 // male | Max HP | Attack | Defense | Speed | | 12 | 15 | 13 | 16 |

Mya was startled. She had almost fallen asleep, the rain helping to ease her into sleep before she felt a tug on the rod and suddenly a burst of... something coming at her. Or would have. Eon had taken on the full brunt of the attack, shaking a bit at the shock before shaking himself and giving a glare. Without Mya's orders or words, the bagon let out a roar and a barrage of tiny embers at the creature in anger.
"Oi! Why are you stupid things so rude!" Mya growled at the fish thing, standing up and brushing herself off. Ugh. She liked camping and hiking before there were Pokemon. Not that she would get rid of them, but honestly! The audacity! "Go to the swamp, they said! It'll help you relax, they said! TRY FISHING, THEY SAID!"

Don't yell at the Tynamo, Mya. You'll just make it angry. At least, that was what seemed to happen in the moment before Eon's spouted embers hit the eel Pokemon -- distracted by Mya's yelling. The Tynamo cried out as the embers landed on it and remained in place, despite its attempts to shake them off, burning its skin. "Tyn!"
The Tynamo swam through the air, slamming into Eon with all its might and then drifting away, seeming satisfied with its actions despite the embers still burning on its flank.
OOC: Eon's Ember hits and does 4 damage, leaving the Tynamo at 8/12 HP. Ember also burns the Tynamo! The Tynamo uses Tackle, dealing 2 damage. Eon has 5/13 HP. Tynamo's burn deals 2 damage to it (as well as reducing its Attack). The Tynamo is now at 6/12 HP! Tynamo: 6/12 Status: burned Stat changes: Attack 8 Held item: none You have 5/5 Pokeballs. She was rummaging through her bag in a near panic, throwing things left and right as the battle was going on. She tossed out a brand new, empty pokeball and looked at it for a second before shaking her head and grabbing a Potion. "Eon!" She said, running over and giving the bagon a quick mist over with the medication before backing away again, tossing the empty medicine cartridge back in her back to recycle later. She then snatched up the shiny new pokeball.... maybe...?
Eon shook himself in glee as the Potion seeped into his scaly skin. Good as new and ready to pummel!

Mya's potion easily restored Eon to full health, something the Tynamo was starting to look like it could use. For a moment it simply looked at Eon and Mya, perhaps making connections in its little brain between the human and the healing. Then it gathered itself to slam into Eon again -- but this time, sparks crackled along the length of the eel Pokemon, intensifying into a dazzling blaze. But the Tynamo couldn't muster the power it would have if only it hadn't had those embers still smoldering on its flank.
OOC: Mya's potion heals Eon for +20 HP, leaving him at 13/13 HP. Tynamo uses Spark, dealing 4 damage to Eon! Eon has 9/13 HP. Tynamo's burn does 2 damage to it, leaving it at 4/12 HP. It was now or never, the thing looked weak. Mya held the new pokeball in her palm, waiting. After the thing hit Eon during a sparking attack, Mya threw the pokeball at it. Eon gave her a confused look and an even more confused sound. She looked at him. "Seemed like the right thing to do?" she said with a shrug. They turned to watch the pokeball, Eon getting ready in case the tynamo broke free. She wasn't sure if it would make a good Pokemon for her team but... well, she had to try, this is what trainers did right? Try to catch wild Pokemon? It would be helpful to have another Pokemon other than Eon around in case something happened... she shook her head. No, she wasn't going to think about that. If that thing broke free they would have to try and knock it out before it did more damage to Eon!

The ball flew at the wild Tynamo in a perfect arc, hitting it squarely on the side. It looked up in confusion for an instant before vanishing into light that quickly disappeared into the Pokeball. The ball rocked once, twice ... and fell still. The ball's activation button, which had glowed red with the Pokemon still fighting, turned white and then stopped glowing. The ball sat quietly, peacefully, in the grass, waiting for Mya to pick it up.

Was it.... over? She watched the pokeball warily before slowly picking up up and putting it in her backpack for later. She looked down to Eon, who was staring up at her with slight aggravation. He huffed. "Look," she said to him, kneeling down to wipe some mud off of his face and paws, "I don't like this either but it felt like the right thing to do. Who knows, maybe you two will be best friends."
Eon gave her a questioning look before pouting and looking away. Mya sighed. "Alright, you pick what's next, more fishing or do you want to walk around?" She stood back up and waited for Eon. He looked around, then began to walk off. Mya sighed and followed him, making sure to keep him in her sights in case something bad happened, but it was a lovely day. The thick canopy of the swamp blocking off some of the downpour. Maybe she would treat them to a nice cooked meal tonight someplace dry... that might make Eon feel better.

As Eon marched along the clump of dry land in the middle of the swamp, he -- and Mya behind him -- passed through a narrow berm between two reedy lakes. The reeds began to rustle loudly, something clearly moving through them and making a beeline for Eon -- though nothing too large. Then the foliage parted and a round form hopped onto the berm in front of Eon. "Wag!"
The wild Poliwag danced on its little feet for a moment, then slammed its tail into Eon with an aggressive little chirp. "Poliiii!"

She was about to say something but stopped herself. Instead, she took out a Potion and gave Eon a good spritzing with it then stepped back. The bagon gave her a grateful look, the sudden smack to the face doing more to hurt his ego than seeing Mya even consider another Pokemon on the team could.
"Well?" Mya said after she healed Eon. "Fuck it up, dude." She looked at the creature and took out her phone, aiming it at the thing. A Poliwag, huh? A water type.... what was it the professor had said? Types mattered? Ember was a fire type move so... Ember was off the table. "Try Bite and Rage! Ember won't do much at all." Eon nodded. He could try that!

The Poliwag was ready to go almost before Mya had even finished healing Eon. It took a step back, then opened its mouth and sent a wave of bubbles crashing into Eon. Each bubble popped with considerable force on impact, forcing Eon back a little. The Poliwag tilted its, er, entire body and whipped its tail back and forth as it watched Eon's reaction. "Poli poli."
It curled its tail at Eon in something like a challenge, as if it were unimpressed by the Bagon's failure to deal damage thus far.

"Man, you are an annoying little beach ball, we're just walking!" Mya growled at the round... thing. Poliwag. "Eon! Bite!" she ordered. Eon shook himself after the impact and charged forward, opening his mouth to--hopefully--chomp down on this thing before it could do too much damage. At least it didn't seem to do too much with those last two moves, Mya thought to herself. Maybe Eon could do some more, if not, she was half tempted to try and get away from this stupid thing., What is with Pokemon and attacking things out of the blue? Is this normal for them? With no prompting? Ha, they sounded like her. Except for the fact Mya didn't punch every random person she encountered, only those that deserved it.

Eon bit down on the Poliwag's wagging tail, leaving a mark. The Poliwag cried out: "Wag!"
As soon as Eon released it, the Poliwag scrambled back, trying to put some space between itself and Eon's jaws. When it had a little distance, it opened its mouth again and sent more bubbles flying at Eon. They shone iridescent in the sunlight as they shot through the air, hitting Eon squarely in the body. Though the Bagon was holding up well, there was clearly a limit to how much more of this he could take.
