Ah yes, the forest. The forest that never really went anywhere even when pokemon vanished and no one knows why.
The forest where people have vanished and whose bodies were never found.
The glades of gloom. The gladegloom forest. Well, congratulations! You arrive as the moon is high and a quarter full. The trees rustle softly on this beautifully clear night and you hear the hooting of hoothoot and noctowl and the scurrying of nocturnal pokemon. How wonderful!

Farrah took a deep breath at the edge of the forest, an openly bright grin on their face. Nighttime - their absolute time of day. It was peaceful, and calm, and oh just listen to the wildlife, alive in a way it had never been before in the musician's lifetime. They didn't even need coffee to be up - or any energy, being such a night-person. And the stories of this wood... oh, Farrah was only even more energized to take a jaunt into it's spooky boughs.
Picking up Decibel's luxury ball off their belt, they tossed it into the air to let him out. "Ziziii!" The black and white Pokemon already nearly blended into the environment, save for his bright pink eyes. Farrah crouched down and he immediately zipped over for a pat. "Hey bud," they said softly. "It's time we get some real training out here. We're gonna go on a nature walk, yeah? Have some fun, meet some Pokemon... maybe even bring a new family member home. How's that sound?"
The Zigzagoon narrowed his eyes at first, as if pondering this idea of someone else in his little ideal world. After a moment though, the thought seemed to pass, and he raced in circles around their feet before taking off at a leisurely trot into the trees. Chuckling, Farrah stood and dusted themselves off before following. They'd trust Decibel's instinct to keep them safe. But the gorgeous weather, the beautiful trees, the lovely everything?
Well. It was a perfect time to keep their eye out for an interesting critter or two, on this mysterious night with their Pokemon. Whatever happened, happened. This was Farrah's first real time out on their own away from all society and in their own element afterall... it just made it that much more exciting.

A Wild Sudowoodo appeared! Zigzagoon has a higher speed, therefore, you will make the first move!
Mod Note: when you go first in a wild encounter, it means the wild pokemon does not initiate a battle. You can opt for a peaceful capture (no battle) or you can choose to flee with a 100% success rate. Or you can initiate a battle.
Trees at night can usually be hard to tell apart at night, given they all tend to look the same, unless a light is shined upon them. Yet as the moonlight catches on the tree, it just so happens to land on one that is.... not quite right.The tree freezes, seemingly surprised to see anyone else out here so late at night. Or, at least, to see someone that isn't a pokemon being active with.... a little ball of black and white? The sudowoodo makes a face and gives her best impression of a tree.

Farrah's eyes were up in the branches, keeping an eye out for ghosts. It wasn't until they nearly tripped on Decibel that they stopped and actually saw the forest for the trees.... tree, rather. "Tree", even. It... why did that tree look so different? Their head tilted to the side, curiously examining, before looking down to where Decibel was, bristling at their feet. "Oh," they said softly. It was a Pokemon.
The... tree... didn't seem too hostile - in fact, if Farrah was honest, it was kind of cute, in its little pose. They crouched down to pat Decibel on the head and disarm him from any hostility, before smiling at the sudowoodo. "Heya," they said gently. "I think you startled us as much as we startled you... sorry about that." The musician paused for a moment. Could... maybe they could try capturing it? It really was a cute bonsai. They wondered if maybe they could try without having to fight.
"I really love your pose," they continued. "Wouldn't have seen you at all if not for Dec here. Say, uh... you know, I know we just met and all - but if you like, would you like to wander with us? Back home, there's just a perfect spot for a lovely tree such as you - plenty of warmth to sun in, and lots of space for privacy, too! Or just enjoying a nice moonlight stroll. If you'd like... the choice is yours."
Calmly, careful not to move too fast, Farrah pulled a Pokeball out of their bag, showing it to the sudowoodo, before gently rolling it over to land at the Pokemon's feet. They nodded to it with as friendly a smile as they could muster. "No pressure."

The sudowoodo takes a moment, looking at the pokeball, at Farrah, back at the pokeball. That did sound nice.... some nice sunny patches... although she was a rock type pokemon and didn't actually need sunlight or water. It did sound lovely and this human did appreciate her tree post.Gently, the sudowoodo moved and tapped the pokeball with one of her hands. She vanished inside with a bright red light. The pokeball shook once.... twice.... three times. Click! The capture was a success!

With a quiet fist-pump, Farrah grinned as the Pokeball clicked with the finality of a capture. Decibel perked his ears up and scampered over to pick the ball up and deposit it in Farrah's hand. "Thanks, kid," they said, ruffling the scruff of his neck. "And as for you... welcome to the family. We're happy to have you."
They stood back up and stretched their legs out before letting out a delighted laugh. "Dec, we caught our first partner! That's awesome!" The zigzagoon let out an excited howl, sprinting around Farrah's legs before sitting back on his hind feet, tail wagging and tongue lolling. "I'm excited to get to meet her once we get out of the woods and into a safer zone so we can all get to know one another."
Decibel looked put off for a moment, seeming to suddenly realize that this meant his dynamic as Farrah's only partner had just changed. But then he shook it off with a "Zii!" and turned to pad further into the trees. Shaking their head in amusement, Farrah simply followed, patting Sudowoodo's pokeball gently in her pocket. "Alright! Wait up now, Dec, we're walking together, not playin' chase." Plus, Farrah didn't want to get too far into the woods... they trusted Decibel to lead her back out, but on a first foray alone in the middle of the night... best to take it easy. This was a nice moonlight jaunt with new encounters to explore, afterall!

A Wild Seviper Appeared! Zigzagoon's speed is faster, so you have the first move!
The night, the time for predators. Or, in his case, to slither through the underbrush to get to his preferred hunting grounds here in the woods. Yet he came across something rather startling that had him rearing up with a loud, protective hiss.A strange creature! No, wait, that's a pokemon. Followed by.... another creature. The serviper coiled in on himself, bearing his sharp, bladed tail at them and giving a defiant hiss. He didn't like these things. He didn't like no things.

It was a little harder to see at night, all things considered. Farrah hadn't quite expected the foliage to cover the sky quite as much as it did... though, they supposed it was called Gladegloom for a reason. It was still peaceful, though - and Decibel seemed in a good mood, his tail wagging as he trotted along, so Farrah was also at peace. Or at least, they were until they heard that terrifying noise cut through the night.
Hsssssss!!
Decibel had immediately started growling near viciously, and Farrah's heart leapt into their throat. Quickly they fumbled for their phone, turning the built-in light on and shining it to where Decibel was, puffed up and teeth bared, before turning it to where he was looking and-- ....Oh Arceus. Oh, Arceus.
Looming high over them was an absolutely massive snake. It looked furious, and it looked... Farrah gulped. Those teeth looked lethal. But, part of this walk had been about meeting new Pokemon, and part of it had been about training Decibel. And this giant snake was a Pokemon... so it was worth a try. The serpent hissed again, and Decibel snarled, putting himself between it and Farrah, rearing for a fight. "Alright Dec, this is it! Here we go... Tackle!"
It took nearly no time for Decibel to launch himself at the Seviper with a sharp bark, intent on attack!

Seviper used Wrap! It misses!
The seviper hissed and bared his long fangs, but as the little fuzzy ball of black and white approached, he moved as if to wrap around it, to stop the movement. Decibel, however, seemed to be ready. He slammed into the seviper's belly, causing the snake to real back in pain and seem almost stunned.He hissed at the pair again. Now it was on.

Farrah paused, absolutely shocked at the sheer tenacity with which Decibel had rammed into the giant serpent. They felt as if they might be as stunned as their opponent was. "...Woah. Good going, Dec! Good boy!" The Zigzagoon's tail wagged briefly at the praise, but his eyes were locked on target, ready to bound forward and deliver the finishing blow again.
Farrah was about to give the command when a thought occurred to them. Why not... take a chance and try to capture this monster? Decibel had proven he was absolutely up to snuff in holding his own against the snake, if that full bodied blow had anything to say about it. And if it didn't work... Decibel could just finish the job and they could get out of there.
"Hold ready Dec, just in case." The raccoon-dog tensed up, looking as if he disagreed... but he paused - just in time for Farrah to yank out another Pokeball with their free-hand, cock their arm back, and huck it at the wild Pokemon! "Alright... capture on!"

Farrah throws a pokeball! Capture Failed! Seviper used Swagger! It hits! Zigzagoon's attack raises by +2! Zigzagoon is now confused!
The pokeball hit the seviper square on the head. The orb fell to the ground, but before it could even shake, the seviper burst free, hissing viciously and eyeing Decibel with a look that could potentially kill.The snake puffed himself up, swishing his tail out and quickly slithered around Decibel quickly, drawing the zigzagoon's gaze far too quickly. While it appeared Decibel would be able to attack more viciously given the position of the seviper around him, it appeared Decibel also became confused from the quick movement!

It felt as if Farrah's blood had frozen to ice in their body. Oh no. That capture hadn't worked at all. And before Farrah could even think to do anything, the behemoth of a wild Pokemon had swarmed around and cornered her partner in surprise! Decibel snarled, puffed up in the vulnerable spot he was in, but his eyes were darting around in confusion - he hadn't expected the creature to be so quick... or to have him so boxed in.
Think fast, Farrah, think fast! They had to get the Pokemon off Dec somehow - and their first throw didn't work... but it did put it in the ball, which meant it was out of the fight for at least a second. Maybe if they threw another it would buy Decibel just enough time to get out of the way.... "Hey you! I didn't say I was done with you yet!" Farrah clicked the capture on another ball, closing their eyes for a moment and hoping... hoping it would help, somehow, - before throwing it at full force yet again. As they did, their gaze turned to their confused partner. "Dec! MOVE!!!"

The pokeball one again hit the snake on the head and he vanished inside.The ball shook violently, rolling around and at one point hitting a small rock. It seemed to be a powerful struggle, until finally.... the moment of truth... Click! The pokeball went still and quiet. The forest seemed more at peace now...

Heart beating like a war-drum in their chest, Farrah watched the Pokeball thrash upon the ground with extreme intensity. They shifted forward towards Decibel, ready to pick the Zigzagoon up and run. In turn, he edged towards them as well, unsteady on his feet but moving carefully. With baited breath, the two watched.
Farrah's legs twitched violently when the ball slammed into a rock, ready to actually take off at full tilt... but the ball still didn't open. And then the capture was complete. They sank to the ground in a boneless heap of relief, letting out a sigh of all the breath they still had pent up. Decibel wriggled onto their lap, tail beating sympathetically, and the musician simply picked their partner up and hugged him tightly. "Oh Arceus, Dec, you're okay, you're such a good boy, you fought so well, oh I love you so much kid!" He stayed still during this, save for turning to lick her cheek and ear enthusiastically until he was let go, and then he carefully approached the Pokeball.
Farrah did as well, picking it up as if it were an armed bomb about to go off, carefully pocketing it. "Good lord of Pokemon almighty," they sighed. "That was harrowing. Exciting! But harrowing." Dec turned in a circle and growled at them playfully, and they raised their eyebrows. "How are you not fazed at all? I swear... Well, Dec. I think this shows we've gone far enough for tonight at least, yeah? Let's start heading back, bud."
The forest was more peaceful, and certainly quieter... and trainer and Pokemon started treading a path back towards the outskirts of the woods from the depths they'd wandered into. But now, they were on guard - if such a predator as the Pokemon Farrah had just caught was out here... who knew what else might be?

A wild Snorlax appeared! Zigzagoon's speed is higher, so you go first!
The way out of the woods had becomes blocked by a glutton. Reaching up and pulling high branches of a rare, wild berry tree down, the snorlax ate each thing off of the branch, save for the branch itself.
Clocking in at 1,014.1 pounds and 6'11'' tall, this massive pokemon simply turned to look at Farrah and Decibel. It seemed to ponder if they were food before going back to the tree it was stripping of all its nutrients. It seemed confident in itself, even here in the dead of night.
