Name: Vincent Emeraldeyes
Nickname(s): Tux
Age: 25
Gender: Male (he/they)
Hometown: Toploss Town
Appearance:
- 5'05"; 107lbs
- Brown hair; green eyes; pale complexion
- Thick black collar with a steel buckle on neck
- Usually tired looking, light bags under eyes; small smile
- Thin frame, underweight; very little muscle mass; tends to get tired easily unless walking, which he can do for long periods of time
- Modified casual suit outfit; undershirt, thin jacket, grey pants, and black walking shoes
- Despite his 'nice' outfit, he is unafraid to get dirty and tends to have a more casual look to his attire, such as leaving his jacket unbuttoned
Personality:
- Shy: has trouble being social around people he has just met; this can manifest is something as small as a small smile or trembling when speaking. Despite this, though, he makes the effort to make friends and talk to people, especially if they took the initiative to speak to him first.
- Nervous: an anxious individual, he struggles with calming down even when things are fine; the most obvious are his little tics, which manifest usually with his hands and fingers, usually involving picking at his clothing or skin
- Easily awed: as someone who had only read about experiences and never had the chance to live them himself, he is usually easily impressed by anything involving his passions, such as pokemon; if even just catching a glimpse of a pokemon he's never seen in person before, he'd be delighted for the rest of the day. Little things mean a lot to him and tend to stick in his mind
- Sheltered: he never got out much due to being a sick child and sick adult, so a lot of the ways of the world are new and foreign to him; due to this, he feels inadequate and is always worried he's breaking some rule he's never heard of, as well as just being easily to manipulate or guilt into trouble
- Pokemon lover: ever since he was a baby, he has always absolutely adored pokemon; learning they no longer existed was something that always caused an ache in his heart that nothing could mend. He made up for this by spending all of his spare time learning about them, researching them, drawing them, studying them, memorizing their names and how people said they looked; he absolutely loves them, any interaction with them, and always jumps at a chance to meet a new one
- Loyal: once a friend, always a friend! While he's hard to gain the trust of initially because of his anxiety, once it is earned, he'll always hold you in high regard. There is very little he would not do for a friend, and always puts them first, even before his own well being
- Considerate: he is a very kind soul and strives to help people, seeing other's happy always helps him cope with his own mental struggles, and a nice deed is never something he takes for granted; likewise, if ever learning he harmed someone, he gets very upset and hurt, and will do whatever possible to right it
- Depressive: dark thoughts and sad feelings often make their way into his mind, but he tries very hard to put on a cheerful and positive disposition due to this; only when alone does he dwell on these, but he is hoping a pokemon to have by his side will help with this
- Low self esteem: hand in hand with his depression, he thinks very slowly of himself, and struggles to stand up for the things he needs, even such necessities like food and water
History:
Vincent was born in the town of Toploss, to his single mother whom raised him by herself. He had a single older brother, but the youth left home in his teens, and the two brothers didn't keep much contact after. At a young age, Vincent was clearly different, and was admitted to the emergency room countless times before even being a toddler. When his health finally stablilized as a youth, and his mother learned how to care for him, Vincent was allowed to finally be a normal child, though his mother's worry for his health urged her to keep him under a short leash, and he scarcely left home due to this. Learning from home his entire childhood, his mother made sure that he kept up his schooling, though it never curved his wildly imaginative mind.
While learning about his heritage and home, Toploss, it was inevitable that Vincent learn about Pokemon, the disappearance, and how important they were. His mother spoke of them fondly, instilling a love of them into his heart from the very beginning, though knowing he could never see one was one of his biggest regrets. Vincent dealt with this by learning about them, using anything at his disposal to gather more knowledge about them, from books, to the elders of the town, to eventually the internet. He even took up art because of them, giving his own interpretations of the wonderous creatures, and never losing his love for them.
Upon reaching adulthood, he was forced to find work, but never could hold down a job for long. Despite his good attitude and want to please, his body was still not as strong as the average person and he had to call in sick too many times, thus resulting in his termination at every place he managed to get hired for. Vincent used his fantasies to try and keep happy, thinking up stories involving pokemon and drawing them to pass the time. Things remained the same for years, until the sudden news spread across the town like wildfire: they had returned.
Vincent immediately made plans to start the dream he had always wished for-- becoming a pokemon trainer. With his mother's blessing, he trained all spring to strengthen his body, preparing to live on the road and spend all day traveling. When he finally had the money, he bought a one way ticket to the new pokemon laboratory, and to meet his new best friend, at Mistveil City....
User Notes:
- Asexual aromantic, also struggles with unmedicated obsessive compulsive disorder, so he can come off weird on accident, but means well. He also has celiac's disease and was born with a heart condition known as Wolff-Parkinson's White Syndrome, but these will not affect role play much, if at all, I just figured I'd note them for moderation's sake.
- Favourite typing is electric, with bug and fairy close seconds!
- Coined the nickname Tux online and has been using it offline for years.
- Closeted agenderflux; preference is definitely gender neutral pronouns, but has kind of given up on ever being referred to as that by other people, but will use they/them when referring to himself.
- Likes to draw and usually had a sketch book and pencil on his person. He spent many years learning to draw pokemon and will probably sketch his team mates or any friends he meets along his journey.
- !!Disregard the raptor handling glove and communicator in his art!! These were from another RP where his partner was a Xatu and communication with pokemon was normal, but I don't have contact with the original artists to edit his current images, my apologies.
