Personality

Drake has always been a blunt, insightful, tenacious individual, traits that serve him well as a reporter. His years of journalistic experience have also left him jaded and cynical, with little patience for deception or foolishness and a tendency to believe the worst of people. After all his hard work, he's burnt out and dissatisfied with his job, finding his success rather empty -- his frustration with his life comes through in his brusque, snappish manner.

One of the few places Drake still finds joy is out in nature, away from other humans, quietly seeking out Pokemon to peacefully photograph. He wishes everyone could interact without Pokemon so unobtrusively, as he believes that Pokemon should be left in the wild. In Drake's mind, Pokemon and humans will never truly understand each other, and the less contact they have, the better.

History

As he grew up, Drake excelled in school but never made many friends. That pattern persists into his adult life: while he's a star reporter for the well-respected Mistveil Times, he's not really close to anyone outside of work. At first, he eagerly covered the return of Pokemon, but over the last year, he's grown increasingly burnt out -- especially since the professor's death -- to the point where he's taken a sabbatical from his job and turned his hobby of wildlife photography into a full-time occupation. The less time he spends around other people, the better, as far as he's concerned.

Appearance

Drake stands 5'9". He is fair skinned with light freckles. His eyes and hair are brown -- the latter short and on the messy side -- and he wears glasses. He takes little care with his appearance; he tends to look fairly disheveled. He has a scar on his neck from a close call with a wild Pokemon, the incident that finally convinced him he needed a Pokemon of his own to defend him out in the wilds.
