Personality
First impressions of Jordan are generally that they're, well, a lot. Their mouth runs a mile a minute about any little thing that catches their eye. You'd think they have a dominant personality by the way they tend to take over conversations, but it isn't intentional. They're not bossy on purpose, and in fact love putting other people in charge so that they can spend their energy on more interesting things. They try their best to listen to others, they really do, it's just that their train of thought just doesn't like to stay in one place for too long. The moment anything passes by the corner of their vision, they're off like a shot. Fortunately, their boundless cheer and disarming honesty keeps people from getting too mad at their general flakiness.
The one thing that can get them to sit still for any length of time is drawing. Their room is filled with stack after stack of muddy, beat up sketchbooks, filled with hundreds of intricate life drawings. Jordan makes sure to keep a sketchbook and pencil on them at all times, so if they spot anything novel- people, places, plants, they're not picky- they're ready to jot it down. They're often out of breath and a bit messy from climbing trees or flopping down into the mud, mindless in the pursuit of the perfect angle. This tunnel vision can often get them into trouble, as they rarely notice the risks they're taking. If something startles them while they're in the zone they tend to freeze up, which isn't really the ideal response to danger. At least they're light on their feet?

History
As the firstborn child of good Summerhill citizens, it was always expected that Jordan would inherit their parents' fungus farm. Their parents and grandparents worked hard for this life, after all, to make sure the people of Deprin remained fed in the years post-rapture. When they were young, it very much seemed like they were on the right track. As a small child they loved to be out in the fields, scampering beneath their father's feet and watching with fascination. Even when they were sent inside to rest, their mother would find them doodling different types of mushrooms. They were never terribly ambitious, never paid too much attention in school, but no one found that a cause for concern. So long as they could work the fields, it just didn't seem important- at least, not at first.
As they grew into a teenager and approached the end of high school, Jordan became more and more checked out. They routinely got caught slacking off on the farm, preferring to draw elaborate Pokemon portraits based on pictures they found in history books. Even that might not have been a big deal, if their younger brother wasn't, well, the complete opposite. Though he was two years younger, Jordan's brother was a model student, routinely bringing home perfect scores and constantly talking about going away to college in Mistveil. The more their grades slipped, the more time Jordan dedicated to their art, until they were barely hanging on. At age eighteen their parents reluctantly offered to send them to Mistveil to study agriculture, hoping a change of scenery would revive their interest.
At first they thought the big city was the best thing they'd ever seen, and their first year did go well. But once again, as soon as they became bored with their surroundings, their interest fizzled out. They dropped out their second year, returning home to Summerhill in disgrace. While they spent every spare moment working on their art, it just wasn't profitable enough to be a full time profession. Back to the mushroom farm it was. They spent the last several years in their parents' house, helping with menial labor around the farm, though it seemed obvious now that their brother would be the one who actually inherited it. They weren't sure what they were going to do with their future, and preferred not to spend too much time thinking about it.
Until one day they bent to pick a mushroom and said mushroom walked away from them. They ran back to the house in a frenzy. Had that really been a real Paras? This changed everything! While they hadn't paid much attention to the words in their history books (they only ever really wanted them for the pictures), they knew the general gist of what Pokemon trainers were. A whole profession dedicated to traveling the world, meeting as many different people and Pokemon as possible...? It was perfect! Their parents didn't seem impressed by this plan, but Jordan didn't care. As soon as they finished packing their things they were off. Hopefully their second visit to Mistveil would have a happier ending.
Appearance
With their muscular forearms and penchant for black leather, Jordan doesn't look like your stereotypical bookish artist. While they're a bit on the shorter side at 5'6", their time hauling equipment on the farm has given them some nice muscle tone. They have olive skin, dark eyes, and straight black hair that they keep pulled back in a bun. They favor sturdy combat boots and a well-worn leather jacket, and dress almost exclusively in black; the one exception is their love of brightly colored scarves, as they're prone to shivering in even a slight breeze. They do try to keep up appearances, and will occasionally spice things up with dark lipstick or even nail polish, but they'd probably look better if they could go a day without tripping into a mud puddle. Their most constant possession is a waterproof messenger bag styled after an ultra ball, as it constantly saves their prized sketchbooks from meeting terrible fates.
