Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Interesting. Very interesting. Shri was still getting used to what certain auras meant in regards to emotions. Out of everyone, she was very good at sensing Takara's. Of course she was, it was her job! But... she glanced over at her trainer. Hmm... she relayed what she knew to Decibel. Takara seemed to enjoy just being around Farrah. It was the first time she had ever seen her trainer so relaxed. It was almost as if just talking to Farrah helped ease a lot of his stress and worry. Farrah had... a nice aura. Shri tried to explain it, knowing that not all pokemon could sense such a thing, but... it was nice.Even then, Takara just seemed enamored. They needed more research for sure. Shri tried to explain how Takara was capable of controlling their emotions and to the extent that could go. They needed to find a way to make Takara's fluster more... obvious. But how? At the agreement, Takara felt slightly flushed but managed to keep it under control. They smiled, happy that Farrah seemed as into the trip as they did, although they totally missed the exact way Farrah said it. Aw, there was no way Farrah was flirting--they probably weren't interested anyway. All the more reason to try and keep it cool, Takara. Just don't chase off a potential friend here. "That's great!!" They maybe sounded too happy about that. "I mean, it'll be super good to have you around on the trip. Good company." And not someone that will be berating Takara about potential profits and what meetings they need to go to and when. Farrah was... chill and understanding. "Honestly, I have no clue. As long as we come across some fossil or another, I'll be happy. Gotta start off small, you know?" Fossils... Takara had read about them and the pokemon they were from in old books kept at Salve Co. There were a few Takara would particularly interested in. One that looked like an early-Scyther with bladed hands. Another that was some strange looking bird-lizard, the dinosaur, and.... a thing with tentacles but was also a plant? There were just so many!
"But ya know, even if the trip comes up empty, it'd be so nice to have some company." That was true, and a given.

Decibel huffed, looking quite pleased. He thought his trainer had a nice aura too! He knew that they smelled sad.... a lot, but it was really nice seeing - or sniffing, as it were - anything much more positive, like this. He also mentioned he was glad that they came off as nice to Shri. That was good! And just proved that his trainer was indeed much better than they thought they were. And also, he said, Takara smelled nice too. Well - of course they smelled nice, but it was more of the nice in the way that Shri meant nice? Did that make sense? Decibel wasn't sure. Oh well. The point was they were good and Farrah was giving off much less depressing energy than usual.
That was sad that Takara was able to control their emotions so much! Or well... good, maybe, but. He tilted his head and rubbed at one of his cheeks with a dainty paw. Farrah did that: acted all good, but at home they were very emotional. Almost painfully so. Though this seemed much more real or... organic or whatever the fancy word was. Was Takara like that too?-- Oh, the raccoon-dog was getting distracted. Yes! How to make them more obviously flustered.... Had Shri come across anything that had thrown Takara off-guard so far, or that brought that kind of stronger emotion out that they could exploit?
Oh- Takara seemed... really pleased about Farrah joining them? Really, honestly? Farrah felt the anxiety in their chest tighten for a moment, before blowing away with a quietly hopeful breeze. Of course, they knew Takara didn't mind it - they'd been the one to offer, afterall. But to seem genuinely happy about them accepting? Farrah's smile brightened a bit - a little crooked at the edge, nose just that bit crinkled. "Really? I mean - well, of course! I agree. Good company indeed - it'll be a really nice time." They nodded, eyes softening in response as they listened further. "That makes sense. It's a worthwhile trip if any kind of evidence pops up for sure - findin' that at all is hugely tantamount to there being viable history out there to spend further invested time searchin' for, after all. And even aside from that, it's a good dive into the ecology of our region that hasn't been explored since... well, since some of these huge changes happened, right?"
And that really was true! If there was evidence to suggest that ancient life still existed... or at least, existed in a form that could be retrieved and studied - that would be such a huge deal. Imagine all the crazy change and history that could be learned, the kind of Pokemon that once existed... museums and places opening up again with actual evidence to share and teach... Farrah swallowed quietly, and steeled themselves for a bold move, reaching over to place their hand over one of Takara's. Farrah's hand was cold - palms soft, but finger-pads calloused from so many years of playing the guitar with no pick.
"I agree. The trip's worth it regardless, if for the company on it." They squeezed Takara's palm gently before letting go and retracting their hand back to their side of the table, offering a friendly quirk in their smile (and containing the bold scream of 'ohhh bad idea bad idea bad idea!!' behind it).

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Shri smiled at that. Takara was rather nice, even if Decibel meant it by smell. But hey! Different senses and all that. But hm... Dec did have a good question. What could throw Takara off-guard? There was little she could think of at the moment. There had never been a situation like this where she was around before. Hmm... As she thought, she tried to reach out and sense Takara's aura more clearly. Looking for anything. She caught it after a moment and quickly looked over. Oh? Interesting. Takara's heart fluttered when Farrah took their hand. It was just a simple touch, yes, bit there was still that "oh shit oh shit" moment racing through their head. A light blush dusted their cheek. He was finding it rather hard to focus on what Farrah was even saying at this point. Their brain was going a mile a minute. When Farrah moved their hand away, Takara's moved to follow but they stopped themselves. Instead, they cleared their throat and tried to get the light blush under control. "Y-yeah! I agree completely! And who knows, we may even be able to solve some mysteries around why pokemon vanished. Like, has this happened before in the past? Who knows, right? Could lead to some, um, interesting research." There it was. Shri eyed Takara and Farrah carefully before relaying what she felt to Decibel. Seems Takara had revealed what would make them off-guard, unknowingly, but still. It was something. Now they just needed a plan. Shri thought about it for a moment before proposing something: they needed to trip their trainers. But, not totally trip onto the ground but, into each other.
Shri lamented, however. She wasn't big enough or heavy enough to cause such a thing to happen. Even when practicing her boxing form with Takara she could hardly move his hands back at a full-power punch. It was embarrassing to admit, but it was the truth.

When Shri looked back over towards the duo, Decibel did too, his ears perked in curiosity. Oh? Was there something interesting going on? He noted his trainer reaching out to touch the other, before his little zigzagoon mind went 'ah'. Farrah willingly and openly touching someone? Now there was something intere- and they pulled away. Oh come on. Why were humans so dreadfully bad at courtship?
Farrah's hands felt like they itched, but in a non-normal way. Despite being a very popular musician, they often very rarely touched others or came into physical contact. Sure, there was meeting fans, and high-fives during concerts, but that was different and detached. In their normal day-to-day lives, Farrah just didn't have contact with well... anyone. They were a very tactile person who was both touch-starved and had nobody to touch. And just that little contact with Takara made their hands burn almost painfully with the need to keep touching. But for the sake of not making Takara uncomfortable, Farrah simply left their hands on the table to pick lightly at their nail-polish and gesticulate as they talked.
"Now that, um- that would just be the damnedest thing, wouldn't it?" the quirked smile slowly turned back into a crooked, flustered grin. "That'd just blow everythin' open. The rapture happening in a time prior? Like..." And there was one of the hand gestures there, as if helplessly grasping the air for answers, "If this has happened before, why wasn't there any historical record? Or was it that far back in the past to negate recorded history? Or um - or findin' evidence of Pokemon that didn't come back, or maybe even older ones that are coming back now with all the rest, if that makes any sense? And I mean, do we even know what could be found out there in the desert--"
They cut themselves off with a peculiar expression, considering what they'd just said, before viscerally face-palming with a laugh. "Oh Arceus. Do we know what's out - that was a dumb statement. 'Course we do, sort of. It's Arrigan. It's not as if the old city existed thousands of years ago. Our grandparents were theoretically around to see it before-hand. I swear... aaaand I've gone off ramblin' again," they sighed with another chuckle, "I'm so sorry." Takara certainly hadn't seemed to have been bothered by the things Farrah had to say yet - but if they'd learned anything growing up it was to be careful. You never knew what might be too much, or the point you push someone away.
Decibel's expression turned a bit concerned as he saw the body language of his trainer, but he shrugged it off as he turned back to face Shri, listening intently. And ohoho, wasn't that just interesting? Getting the two into physical contact... no no, Shri was right. That was perfect. Farrah was extremely touchy, that would work well for both of them, perhaps... Now... that was unfortunate Shri wasn't quite big or heavy enough - but Decibel did know one thing! Farrah was pretty steady, but Decibel had a nasty habit of tripping them because he liked to wind around their legs.
The knees were a very fascinating weak point in a human, Decibel told Shri. Even if a fist couldn't push a braced and ready arm back - and there was absolutely no shame in that, assured - the vulnerable knee was something else. There was once he'd been playing around and accidentally smacked Farrah from behind and nearly KO'd the musician entirely. So if they were facing one another and... Decibel got up, shook himself off, and zipped in a circle around Shri and the tree they were under, before pivoting and shoulder checking the tree-trunk. As expected, only a few leaves fell off the tree, but the zigzagoon offered a look to Shri. Eh? Not like, hard or painful, of course, but just that little bit of applied pressure... and boom. Connected humans.

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Takara just listened, completely enamored. There was nothing they even wanted to say. Of course they were fully focused on the words but there was just something about listening to Farrah talk, rambling on about their thoughts. It was relaxing. Actually, Takara would be perfectly happy just listening to Farrah talk for hours. If only that could become a reality. But soon, they were ripped from that nirvana when Farrah apologized. Takara could only smile. "Oh, I don't mind, I find it incredibly endearing!" It took a second for Takara's words to catch up with them. Their smile faded and they cleared their throat, their face burning bright red. Shri nodded at Dec at the display of his force, and she was about to say that was a great plan before she stopped and quickly stood up, looking over at Takara. She thought they had been shot but... no. They were... getting up? She looked at Dec and nodded. They had to go through with the plan now. It seemed Takara had done or said something and they didn't want to deal with it. It was time to move! She jumped from the bushes and quickly approached, waiting for Dec to get into position. Soon. Soon they would help these helpless humans with courtship.
Takara quickly stood up, still burning red. "Well, this was really fun, but it's getting really late and all, and I have work tomorrow so, you know." Arceus, how did someone save from this? Just, stupid stupid stupid! They had better control over their words than that, they knew to think carefully before they talked! Why the hell did that slip out! Fucking hell. Shri just gave Takara a deadpan look. Wow. That was a lot of strong embarrassment. It was kinda sad.

"You..." Farrah's mind went entirely blank, shutting down entirely for a long moment. Incredibly endearing. Endearing? Did... Takara just say... that their - the bad habit that always made others angry - endearing? They... enjoyed it? Their thoughts felt like TV static - entirely incomprehensible and almost helpless. "Y-you do? ...Really?" Wide eyes took in Takara's own expression. The blush, the clearing of the throat, and Farrah felt their own cheeks heating up in a vivid flush across their cheeks. How did... wow. They really said that. Farrah's lips parted to say something - they weren't sure what was about to come out of their mouth, really - when they noted that lovely smile gone from Takara's face. ...Oh.
Decibel picked up on the alarm from Shri and looked over, alerted immediately. Oh, the trainers were up. That was fast - not much time for plotting or planning or working things out entirely... but the Zigzagoon was fine with that - he worked well with high energy fast plans! He nodded back to Shri. Time to put this into practice! As Shri took off for Takara, Dec zipped around and readied himself as well, nodding to Shri from across the way with a determined look. At her signal he was ready to spring.
As Takara stood up, Farrah near stumbled to their feet as well. Oh no - Farrah really did fuck up, didn't they? Takara didn't mean it, and now it was all awkward for them and they wanted to leave and never talk again and - they tried to push down the abject panic working against the incredibly touched fluster, but their voice came out as something of a crackled, startled mumble. "O-oh! Um, right... no, you're right, it is late, isn't it? I didn't even realize..." They stepped around the table, cheeks still burning in a blush, rubbing an arm anxiously as they approached to stand in front of Takara. They looked up at their taller companion, examining Takara's eyes intently, before offering a weak but friendly smile. "I suppose, um... time flies when you're havin' a good time. I apologize for keepin' you out so late... and thank you again - for the library. U-um..."
Farrah raised a hand, taking another step towards Takara to offer a handshake. What they didn't notice was Decibel behind them, tensing up to spring forward towards prime target, the back of Farrah's knees, the moment they started moving. "See you uh, around, sometime...? Maybe?"

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Ugh, how could they be so stupid? They finally met someone that seemed to get them and was charming and cute and beautiful and intelligent all at the same time and they just... fucked it up? Takara wanted to go to vanish like the pokemon did 80 years ago. Maybe in 80 years they could face life again. They should have played it cool but instead they let their mouth move ahead of their brain. What happened to smooth and charming? What happened to a long-con of getting to know each other? Nope, all of it was out the window now. They cleared their throat when Farrah spoke up and nodded. "Y-yeah! Of course, after all, we need to go on that trip, right?" Unless Farrah didn't want to now, Takara would understand entirely. "And it's fine, I-I'm a night owl most of the time anyway, but uh...." ugh, they were just making it worse huh? Takara reached a hand out as well, ready for a handshake in return. "And yes! Of course! I'd love to see you again." They punched themselves internally. Always saying the wrong things tonight, huh? They just wanted to disappear and forget about this night and the untold embarrassment.
The feelings were killing Shri. They were overwhelming on many fronts. Regardless... she looked at Dec and nodded. Now!

"Right! N-no of course, we still have that trip to plan, goes, um, without being said, right?" Farrah minuscule smile widened slightly for a short moment. They felt a small bite of relief in their gut. At least they hadn't ruined things so much that Takara was still willing to invite them along out to the desert... that was something, right? Unless it was out of obligation and they didn't actually want Farrah to-- to anything, really. Such a gorgeous, suave and intelligent person with just the most lovely voice and Farrah really had to choose tonight to be a fool. Such was their luck...
"Yeah," they said softly. "I'd love to see you too." As they moved forward to shake Takara's hand, Decibel nodded at Shri. Go time! He darted forward at a quick speed, acting as if he was going to just run by the trainers before pivoting on the spot and slamming his head and shoulders directly into the bend of Farrah's knees. Quickly he circled around again in case a repeat was needed - but the effect seemed pretty instantaneous.
Farrah's knees buckled immediately mid-step at the hefty impact, and they gasped sharply as their legs went down and they collapsed forward. Instead of the friendly handshake, their hand jolted forward to curl into Takara's tanktop as their face collided directly with Takara's chest. Their other hand also raised, resting palm down over their chest as well to try to catch themselves. The way their legs collapsed, they ended up nearly flush front to front with Takara - and Decibel, bracing himself in case, looked very, very pleased with himself. The Zigzagoon looked back towards Shri, head tilted as if to say How's that?
Inhaling sharply, Farrah's mind went entirely blank. Oh.... oh they smell really, really nice, was the only thing their traitorous mind unhelpfully supplied, and a moment later as the thought caught up with them, their cheeks burned in a terribly dark blush. Farrah's heart felt like it was either about to stop entirely, or flutter right out of their chest into the sky. Being this close, touching this much... Farrah absolutely loved it - but was also entirely aware this might... not be so mutual. Cheeks flushed with a sheepish expression, the musician slowly raised their head from Takara's chest to look them in the eye. "...Heya," they chuckled softly, voice barely above a whisper. "Seems you're destined to continue saving me."

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Their brain had skidded to a complete stop. Everything seemed to happen so fast. Farrah falling forward, towards them, and just... the close proximity. It wasn't even anything too serious, but somehow it felt like more than that. And even then Farrah wasn't moving away quickly or anything. But Takara had caught them with one hand on their arm and the other touching their waist. Other than that, there were no thoughts in their head. It was as if the track kept skipping and couldn't find a place to pick back up.Shri smirked and gave Decibel a thumbs up. That would do it. She hopped up on the stone bench to watch the humans curiously. This would be interesting. She motioned for Decibel to join her and watch the show. Time to see what would happen. So far, the auras she was sensing were very interesting. Takara cleared their throat, face red and even their ears getting a slight tint of pink as they let out a soft chuckle, finding it hard to make eye contact. "Well, uh, I certainly won't complain to saving you if it led to more moments like this." That was... probably a stupid or corny thing to say but it was true. They finally managed to look at Farrah and smiled more softly. "As long as you agree, of course." They cleared their throat a bit. "Uh, actually... would you be interested in meeting up again? Soon? For like... you know..." ugh, nope they couldn't say it. They just hoped Farrah was picking up what Takara was putting down.

With an incredibly smug expression, Decibel watched the two trainers for a long moment before trotting over and hopping onto the bench Shri was sitting at, making himself comfortable to watch the two. He huffed in amusement. And he'd been worried with the smell of anxiety coming off the two not even a minute ago... pffah. That was much easier than they'd thought it'd be.
Farrah felt like their skin had actually gone aflame - especially with Takara's hand on their waist. It was like electricity all across their insides, like they were both cold and on fire and just ready to absolutely explode with kinetic energy. They could feel their side instinctively quiver at the touch, and their fingertips pressed tighter against Takara's chest in response. As Takara spoke, there was absolutely no mistaking the blush on Farrah's face now. Their lashes fluttered as they looked up into their companion's pretty blue eyes. Relaxing into Takara's touch, they smiled back, voice still delicately soft. "I do find that I agree, yes. I don't mind if it's you. And I... can't say that wouldn't like more moments like this either."
At Takara's next question, Farrah's heart felt like it was about to sprout wings and fly away like an excitable Pidgey. That... that was pretty point-blank, right? This, this was really flirting, and what Takara was asking... they weren't just imagining it, were they? They hoped not. They really, really hoped not. Suddenly bashful, Farrah lowered their head to press their nose against Takara's collarbone, smothering a quiet giggle. Oh, they felt like a little young college student with their first crush all over again. And as the saying went this late in the game... you missed all the shots you didn't take. Pulling back just slightly, Farrah very boldly got up on tip-toe to press a very chaste, quick kiss to the part of Takara's cheek they could reach before looking up at them with bright eyes and a brighter smile. "Yes. I would love to go on a date with you. Soon. This weekend, maybe...?"
Farrah sure hoped that was what Takara was asking, otherwise... oh, boy.

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds A small, breathy chuckle came from them. Farrah was just... adorable when blushing like that. But even then the nervousness didn't quite leave them as they waited for an answer or a question for clarification. But the little kiss on the cheek really caught Takara off guard. They were fairly certain their heart was going to jump out of their chest at this point. But..."Great, yes! Good! Um..." aw, what now? It had been a while since Takara had actually gone on an actual date and not just aiming for a one night stand. "I can meet up anywhere, really, any specific city in mind? Uh, I'm off this Saturday! I can put something together, too." What would be fitting? Dinner at a fancy restaurant? No... that didn't seem like it'd be very.... good. It was too standard. A movie? Eeh. Maybe? I mean, there was time for them to go on their adventures so they would need someplace for any new pokemon they caught to stretch out and meet. Eh, they'd figure something else out. There was time. Shri smiled. It was nice to see Takara not in control of their expressions for once. Usually, they had such firm control over how they presented and never let their internal emotions show. But this was nice to see. She turned her smile towards Dec now. The plan was a success and it didn't even take that much effort! It was amazing how things tended to work out.

Immense relief flooded Farrah at Takara's response. Oh, thank every deity they'd read into that correctly. That would've been so awful otherwise - or even worse what if they'd been looking for a hookup and Farrah just jumped to the next boat without asking? That would've also been mortifying. But it wasn't, and Farrah felt like nothing could wipe the jubilant smile off their face.
"I'm free this Saturday too," they agreed, "And I can travel too - I... actually live over in Sylvanport, if that helps? But, ah- whatever's most convenient." Besides, Farrah thought. It didn't so much matter where... it was just really nice to actually have a real date. A real date. And with someone who was genuinely so intelligent and thoughtful. Easily someone better than Farrah deserved - but they shut that mouthy part of their thoughts off immediately. "I absolutely look forward to it."
Decibel could physically not look more pleased nor radiate off more smug proud energy. Awww, lookit his trainer. Out there gettin' em. Good. He turned towards Shri as well, tail wagging wildly. They looked happy! He was glad it worked out and didn't immediately turn even more sour. The Zigzagoon didn't think he'd seen Farrah smile that much or actually look that happy since he was first let out of his ball. And that alone made him happy to see them happy.

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Their hands took a bit more purchase now instead of it being just a light touch from the fall. They smiled at Farrah's next words, though. "What luck, I live in Sylvanport, too, actually. So, um... I'll text you? Like, a time and place." They wanted it to be special and already had some ideas churning in their head. Plus they needed keys to one of the old, closed buildings Salve Co. had just purchased a while ago. Takara didn't know why they bought it, but they knew that what the board wanted to do would not be done with it."And, uh..... I'll make sure there is enough space for our pokemon and all. Not fair to keep em in their pokeballs, ya know?" Besides, it'd be nice to see what they each caught. Plus it might be good for the pokemon too, spending time with others and all that. "So... you got any food allergies I need to worry about? Any favorites?" Hey, it was an important question!
Shri had to agree, it was so nice to see them both happy, and to feel those positive auras. It was refreshing. Plus, she was excited to just see Decibel again, knowing damn well they would be around during the date. It would be fun, to spend time with a friend while the humans did their own thing. After all, they didn't need chaperones.

Farrah found their own body relaxing in response, melting into Takara and the touch of their warm hands. It was so unusual, feeling so... relaxed? At ease? Content? Like this. But Farrah wasn't going to look a gift-ponyta in the mouth. And touching them, being touched - it was nice. And it was even nicer knowing the ember of attraction wasn't one-sided. "Huh," they hummed, "What a small world, eh? Over the stones throw from one another. How have we never met before? A-aand yeah! Yeah, of course. But you can text me outside of that too, y'know." They winked, teasing. ...But also not teasing. Now that contact wasn't necessarily on a 'let's change the world stranger!' basis, Farrah... really hoped they'd text or keep contact, actually. Farrah would too, of course, but there was that always nagging worry of being left on read.
"That's very thoughtful of you. It'll be nice for 'em too, gettin to see one another again." Farrah was finding that Takara was a very thoughtful person as a whole; it was a trait they were quickly coming to respect and admire. They chuckled and shook their head. "Fit as a fiddle, as it were; no health concerns aside from the usual threats of," They pitched their voice down like a scolding parent, "'Going goddamn deaf listening to that racket music so loud.' Which is completely irrelevant, um," oh boy. They were rambling again. "No. No allergies. I'm a fan of spice, though - and, as I'm finding..." They shifted closer against Takara, and raised a hand from their chest to very gently boop them on the nose. "Sweet."
Yes, indeed! Decibel still wasn't entirely sure what an aura was, but if it was positive, that was a good thing, so! His tongue blepped out as he shifted to flop on his side playfully. He agreed there too! It was going to be really exciting to get to meet Shri again; another Pokemon on his speed and level was so, so nice. And not having to worry about his human while they were doing their own thing... that was equally nice. Kind of invigorating, actually.

Plant Your Hope With Good Seeds Oh, right, texting. Takara chuckled softly. "Not to worry you but, work tends to distract me a lot but I always get back to messages eventually." It was true. There were times Takara got a message from someone and thought oh yeah, I'll get that later only to forget for sometimes five days total. It was mostly followed by an oh shit moment, but it happened. Work sometimes was just so busy and hard to keep up with a personal life. But Takara was willing to do better. At Farrah's old person voice, Takara found themselves bursting out with laughter. Man, hadn't they heard that before! Along with other things. They shook their head a bit and smiled. Delightful. Although a small blush did come to their cheeks when Farrah booped their nose. "I'll for sure keep that in mind." They leaned forward enough to give Farrah a small peck on the forehead. "And I'll make sure there's some desert for the meal. Maybe some muffins, kinda hard to make mushrooms and algae taste sweet." Shri snorted and patted Dec on the side. What a silly pokemon! She enjoyed his company, made her remember that life wasn't always about work and obligations.
