| Pokémon Teams and Starters |
|
|
|
|
| I. Pokémon TeamsDeprin only sports a 3-pokémon team. This means that your pokémon team for traveling and battling can only consist of three total pokémon. This evolved as part of Deprin's culture towards pokémon battles over 80 years ago. Once you start a thread, you cannot switch the pokémon in your team. This means if you catch another pokémon, that pokémon is automatically sent to the PC. If you black out, the thread ends. You can switch your active pokémon between threads and there is no limit to how many pokémon you can have in your PC. If you are in a thread where there are no encounters or battles, you are free to mention more than three pokémon in passing, especially if it is your character's home. All pokémon can only know a total of five moves. Moves are given to you when you get your pokémon and staff will update you when your pokémon can learn a new move due to level-up. Moves can also be altered if you use a TM. II. Starter PokémonEvery character receives one starter pokémon after they have been accepted. Starter pokémon begin at level 1 and their stats and moves (if applicable) are randomized. Every starter will get one egg move. Any pokémon can be a starter pokémon with the following exceptions: fossil pokémon, legendaries, mythical, type: null, ultra beasts, or pokémon/regional variants that have not been introduced to the site yet (please ask staff if you are unsure if a pokémon is allowed). As for pokémon personality, we do not utilize pokémon natures found in games. Instead, your pokémon's personalities are entirely up to you. This includes how they develop overtime. There are two ways to obtain starter pokémon: given by the Pokémon Lab or through inheritance/finding a pokéball. The Pokémon LabIf you want to have a more traditional experience, the Pokémon Lab will randomize six pokémon and provide them to you. You can choose any one pokémon to be on your team. If you choose to randomize your starter, staff will ensure you have a variety of types. For example, you will not get all bug types or all water types. You may get two water or bug types, but overall your selection will be a variety. You also have the option roleplay getting your pokémon with a NPC lab tech. Staff will place a personality in each pokémon they introduce for your character to pick from. If you choose this option, please keep in mind that you may have to wait a day or two for replies from staff; however, they will be in contact with you to inform you of any wait. For this option, please notify staff in your character application and they will link you to the starter thread they create for you. Once you choose your pokémon, staff will give you their stats for your tracker/PC. Inheritance/Finding a PokéballShould you wish your character to already have a connection to a pokémon, either by inheriting a pokéball that was passed down or by finding a pokéball with a pokémon inside, you are more than free to do so for your character's starter pokémon. The pokémon must still be at level 1 and it must be a pokémon that is approved to be a starter. You can choose to have the pokémon inspected by the Pokémon Lab in a roleplay thread if you so choose; however, staff will provide you with your pokémon's stats after your character is approved. Please remember that pokémon that have been in pokéballs for 80 years and have not been let out since the Rapture. If they were let out at any point during the Rapture or before it ended recently, they would have also vanished and not have returned. III. Tracking Your PokémonIt is vital you track your pokémon's stats in a tracker/PC thread. These can be set up any way you like, but it must always have a code block of your pokémon's stats available for staff. Please review the Tracker and PC Guidelines for further information. Ensure you are tracking all changes to your pokémon. This includes level-ups, evolutions, and new pokémon you add to your team. It is not staff's responsibility to update your pokémon's information or hunt through threads to find information that was not added. |

| No shared encounters between players or your own characters. All encounters, even self-modded, must be solo.
I. OverviewDeprin has a host of areas to find wild pokémon, including civilization. For the sake of ease, you can only capture wild pokémon in official encounter threads. At this time, staff will not be introducing any wild pokémon into roleplay only threads. This also ensures that threads can stay organized and, should you need a reminder about where you caught a pokémon, it will be in its own thread. Encounters can either be staff-moderated or self-moderated; however, encounters tend to follow the same general rules and guidelines. Please reach out to staff with any questions. Each encounter costs a base price of 40 EXP. There are additions you can purchase in the official Encounter Request and Review thread. II. General Encounter Guidelines and MechanicsPlease note that captures and battles work differently in self-moderated threads. Please also note that Safari Zone Encounters have their own special rules located here. The Basics- You can choose for the encounters to be at night or during the day.
- Weather is rolled at the start of the thread, unless a special item is purchased.
- You can choose to fish or surf if they are options for the area you are in (please state if you do so, as this alters the encounter pool).
- You can only encounter 3 pokémon per encounter thread.
- Encounter threads automatically end once you capture/knock out your last encounter, white out, or if you use all your pokéballs.
- Rolled Battle Mechanics must be followed when battling wild pokémon in moderated threads.
- You can choose to have a "pacifist" thread yourself. This means you do not engage in battles with wild pokémon and instead try to solve things peacefully; however, wild pokémon may still attack you regardless.
- All area information and lore threads have encounter tables. These are "living dex" tables. The spaces without pokémon mean there is still something to be discovered! Once an undiscovered pokémon is found, staff will update the living dex.
- An area's living dex may change over time as new pokémon are released from games. These changes will be signified by more blank spaces in the dex.
- All encounters in civilizations will be Out of Battle encounters -- meaning battling the wild pokemon is prohibited. This includes self and volunteer-moderated threads.
Items and Pokéballs- You have 5 pokéballs you can use in your thread. You can purchase different types of pokéballs when requesting an encounter.
- You have three item uses for your entire thread. The types of items you can use depends on your number of gym badges or certificates.
- You are granted one free out of battle heal. This can only be used once per thread and it fully heals a pokémon of your choice, including any status conditions. This cannot be used to revive a pokémon.
- Your pokémon can only hold one item at a time (a berry, a badge or emblem, etc.) and these items CANNOT be switched out once a thread starts. Your pokemon must have the item equipped at the start. If you forget to add an item in your first post when you display your pokemon's stats and items, you CANNOT add it later. Held items can be knocked off or stolen. If this happens with a badge/emblem the pokemon that loses it loses the benefit of the item.
Capturing Pokémon- Pokémon can be captured in or out of battle.
- Battle captures mean engaging the pokémon in a fight and reducing it's HP. Pokémon reduced to 0 HP will automatically flee and cannot be captured.
- Out of battle capture is trying to capture a pokémon without engaging it in battle. You have one chance to attempt this capture. In moderated encounters, staff may grant a bonus based on your roleplay decisions on how to attempt the capture.
- Capture rates are calculated inverse to a pokémon's remaining HP and any status conditions they have.
- There is no 100% guarantee to capturing a pokémon.
- Should you encounter a shiny pokémon and it breaks free of its pokéball, you have one more chance to capture it as long as you have another pokéball to use. For example, if you have two pokéballs left and you use one to try to capture the shiny pokémon and it breaks free, you can use your last pokéball to attempt another capture.
IV. Staff-Moderated EncountersDuring staff-moderated encounters, staff play the part of the wild pokémon. They give the pokémon a personality and base many of its actions on dice rolls and reactions to what you and your pokémon do. In staff-moderated threads, if the wild pokémon has a higher speed, they may attack your character/the pokémon that is out in the field. Your character can worm their way out of combat if they are A. clever in roleplay and B. get lucky with staff's dice rolls. It may not always be possible to escape a battle depending on the situation either, but the option is still open to give as much control to you as possible. Battle in staff-moderated threads follow all rolled battle rules and capture rates are rolled by staff. All staff-moderated encounters are started by staff. They will link you to your encounter thread once it is posted. Please keep in mind that, with these threads, you will need to wait on staff's response. We try to be as fast as we can, but we cannot make promises on time; however, we will do our best to keep you updated if a wait is expected. V. Self-Moderated / Volunteer-Moderated EncountersSelf-moderated and volunteer-moderated encounters are ways for members to have more direct control over their encounter threads or to do an encounter with a fellow member. Self-moderated cuts the wait time down to only what you yourself want to do for an encounter. You can check-out an example of a self-moderated thread here. For volunteer-moderated thread, the volunteer would be making all the rolls and then replying to their own roll post with information about the pokémon. Before you claim a self-moderated or volunteer-moderated thread in the Encounter Request and Review, be sure to review all these rules to ensure your thread is not deemed unusable and invalid. Please note that on mobile, you will be unable to see dice rolls unless you go to "Desktop View". i. The Basic Guidelines- Roleplay posts and dice roll posts must be made separately. For example, your very first post will be rolling for weather. The second post will be introducing your character to the situation. Third post is for your first encounter.
- Roll posts cannot be edited once they are posted. If you need to edit it, contact staff first. If a roll post has been edited and staff has not approved the edit, your entire encounter will be considered null and void. Staff will also edit the posts and add in a note. Remember, on Proboards you can track who last edited the thread.
- If you purchase great or ultraballs for the thread, they will only take effect when staff does the final review and make their own capture rolls for pokémon that were not auto-successes.
ii. How to Roll the Dice- You can roll dice by clicking the in the BBCode buttons at the top of a post.
- Once you click the button, you will be able to select how many sides the dice has. You will primarily be using 1-20, 1-100, and 1-1000.
- The rolls will dictate your captures, your encounters, the weather, and if a pokémon is shiny.
- The dice roll looks like this: LVuzQyI|1-1001-10
iii. Rolling Weather- To roll weather, you must go to your area's Information and Lore post. This will list the weather for the area.
- Take note of what the weather is (such as Storm: 60%). You will then roll a d100 (1-100) dice and if it is 1-60 your thread will take place during a storm (unless you purchase a weather item while requesting your thread).
- Weather and time of day both affect the pokémon you can encounter in an area (safe for their core pokémon).
iv. Rolling Encounters- First you will roll for rarity using a d20 (1-20):
1 - 11 = Common 12 - 17 = Uncommon 18 - 20 = Rare - If you have a repel or super repel, please mention you are using it for one of your encounters. If it is a repel you are guaranteed either an Uncommon or Rare pokémon, so a 1-10 will be Uncommon and 11-20 will be Rare. For a super repel, you are guaranteed to encounter a Rare pokémon for one encounter.
- Then you will look at the encounter table for the area you are in, finding the one that corresponds with your area, time of day, and weather. You can still only move to adjacent areas, but you choose which area you start in, as with staff-moderated threads.
- Roll a dice that equals the same number of sides as discovered pokémon. A Missingno + "??" for the name is an undiscovered pokémon. This means that is a pokémon you cannot yet encounter. These pokémon can be discovered through staff-moderated threads.
- If you see a pokémon that has two images (such as /) then you will roll a dice to determine which pokémon you encounter. For example, There is Tauros, Paldean Fighting Tauros, Paldeas Fire Tauros, and Paldean Water Tauros. So you will roll a d4 (1-4). For a Nidorino/Nidorina you will roll a d2 (1-2).
- Finally, roll if the pokémon is shiny. You will roll a d1000 (1-1000). If you roll a 1 or a 1,000, you encounter a shiny! The Shiny Charm increases the odds to a 1-10 or a 990-1,000!
- Bad Luck Clause: if you roll the same pokémon in the same self-modded thread (ex: two pidgeys), contact staff and we will roll a new encounter for you. If you want to encounter the same pokémon for any reason, you can ignore this clause.
- If you ever encounter a pokémon with a Paradox evolution, staff will roll to see if this pokémon you captured is a Paradox pokémon during their review.
v. Battles- Anime rules apply to these battles. You can use any move that makes sense for the pokémon's evolution and a level that associates to your own team's. So if you encounter a Bulbasaur, you can have it use Razor Leaf in the thread.
- You do not roll moves, abilities, or levels. This is for staff to do after you submit your thread for review. Do what makes sense for the pokémon.
- You and your volunteer will determine how a battle goes using the Freestyle Battle rules. For the purposes of fairness, only volunteer-moderated threads and staff-moderated encounter threads will count for battle requirements for leveling. Self-moderated encounters will not count.
vi. Capture- You roll for your own captures or to determine if a staff will roll during their final review.
- You roll capture chances using a d20:
-1 - 5 = Instant failure -6 - 14 = Staff rolls during review (canonically, the pokémon escaped and then returned) -15 - 20 = Automatic success - Automatic failures will not be re-rolled unless it is a shiny pokémon. Staff will re-roll this in their review to see if you capture the pokémon due to our Shiny Clause: everyone is allowed one re-try when a wild pokémon is not captured the first time.
- You can only throw one (1) ball per encounter.
vii. Submitting for Review- Go back to the Encounter Requests and Review thread and submit your thread for review using the review template.
- Be sure to fill out everything in the review template since you and your volunteer (if applicable) will get bonus exp for a self-modded or volunteer-moderated thread!
- If you want to request more than one wild encounter during a week, you will need to pay an extra fee, even if it is self-moderated.
VI. AbilitiesSome pokémon abilities don't translate well to a completely text-based roleplay. We have attempted to gather these abilities and update them with how they will work with the site. If you notice one missing, please notify staff. Please click the spoiler to see all the abilities. - Honey Gather - roll a 1d6 after an encounter. On a 1 or a 6, your next encounter in the same thread will be either uncommon or rare
- Pick Up - when an item is thrown, such as with Fling, the item is caught and held.
- Super Luck - a critical hit lands on a 1 or a 2
- Compound Eyes - +2 to each accuracy DC check (example: a DC for a move with an accuracy of 55 is now 13 instead of 11)
- Early Bird - when asleep, flip two coins/roll two two-sided dice. If either is heads or 1, it wakes up
- Anticipation - when a pokémon enters the field and there are any field traps (spikes, toxic spikes, etc.) this pokémon is not affected
- Ball Fetch - once during an encounter thread (except for self/volunteer-modded) your pokémon will retrieve the ball and add it back to your items
- Commander - once per battle, this pokémon can have one of its moves land an automatic critical hit. This will bypass protection, detect, or wide guard. It does not bypass ineffective moves due to typing (ex: ghost to normal)
- Forewarn - once per battle, this pokémon can make a perfect dodge against the next attack move (as determined by the trainer, this ability must be activated before the attacker's moves are made)
- Harvest - on a roll of 6 on a d6, the pokémon finds a tasty treat. The next out-of-battle capture attempt will be rolled with advantage
- Healer - on a roll of 10 on a d10, it will heal its own status condition
- Illuminate - if this pokémon is considered the battling pokémon for an encounter, a d6 will be rolled. On a 6, an uncommon or rare pokémon will appear
- Minus / Plus - if another electric-type is in the party, the attack is raised by 5 points
- Moody - on a roll of 6 on a d6, two stats will be randomly switched for the duration of the battle
- Power Spot - on a roll of 6 on a d6, the next attack move the pokémon makes will be a considered super effective regardless of the move's type
- Quick Draw - on a roll of 6 on a d6, this pokémon will attack first in the battle round
- Symbiosis - once per battle, this pokémon will use an item if the opponent uses an item (this does not take away from its trainer's item pool)
- Telepathy - once per battle, this pokémon can predict the next move and dodges it (as determined by the trainer, this ability must be activated before the attacker's moves are made)

| I. OverviewPokémon grow through experiences. On Pokémon Rapture, this growth is gained through battle, completing objectives, and exploring the world. Once a pokémon has gained enough experience they can level-up. For some pokémon, they evolve when they reach a certain level. For others, they require more special circumstances. In order to level-up or evolve your pokémon, you will want to visit this thread: Level-Up and Evolution Request. II. Leveling UpLeveling up your pokémon is rather easy. You need to unlock a series of of conditions for each level-up and pay a small fee of EXP. On Rapture, pokémon level up in increments of 5. For example, if you want to level up your level 1 pokémon, they will go to level 5 once you meet the conditions required for that level. The higher the level you are going to, the more difficult or complicated the conditions you will need to meet. The EXP fee also goes up. A full list of these conditions and fees can be found in the Level-Up and Evolution Request thread. III. EvolutionFor pokémon that evolve when they reach a certain level, you do not need to do anything special. Staff will inform you that your pokémon is ready to evolve and they will ask you for approval before processing your level-up request. Once you approve it, staff will provide you with your new stat block which includes the new level-up. For pokémon that require certain items or conditions, you will need to reach these conditions or purchase the item in question. A full list of what needs to be done can be found in the Level-Up and Evolution Request thread; however, we have mentioned some of them below. - Item: the item must be purchased or found. You can purchase an item when you submit your request. They will need to be at least level 25 if there are no other conditions.
- Trade: inform staff you wish to evolve your pokémon. They will need to be at least level 25 if there are no other conditions.
- Friendship: you must complete a total of 5 threads with your pokémon and they must be at least level 25.
- Time of Day: inform staff you wish to evolve your pokémon. They must be at least level 25 if there are no other conditions.
- Moves: your pokémon must know this move. They can either learn it naturally or you can purchase the TM for it. They must be at least level 25 if there are no other conditions.
- Other: for pokémon that need to be held upside or complete other odd conditions, inform staff you wish to evolve them. They must be at least level 25 if there are no other conditions.
After your request has been processed, you are free to post about the pokémon's evolution in any thread you wish for it to happen in (such as a thread that meets our semi-liquid time rules, or an encounter). You can also create a Journal entry describing the story behind your pokémon's evolution. ** Special note for Silvally: Silvally can change types in between each thread. Once a thread starts that has Silvally in it, you must pick its type. You cannot change the type at any time during the thread. - Lore wise, everyone that obtains a Type Null obtains a care package sponsored by the Pokémon Center that includes the necessary memories to change Silvally's typing. These memories are made by Salve Co.

| Trading, Gifting, Releasing, and Breeding |
|
|
|
|
| I. TradingPokémon can be traded between members. Currently, all trades need to be 1-to-1. In order to trade a pokémon, please visit the Trading and Release Request thread so staff can verify trades and the new owner of a pokémon. Once staff approved the trade, you will post the pokémon's information to your tracker. Once both parties involved do this, they will notify staff and staff will delete the old tracker posts. Do NOT delete a pokémon's tracker post! Staff will do this once everyone has verified that they have the pokémon's stats. If you wish to trade between characters, you will need to post the request using your OOC account and link to the pokémon in their trackers you wish to trade between them. Staff will verify the trade and you can post the pokémon to their new trackers. Trades do not cost anything and have no special requirements other than everyone is in agreement about the trade. Everyone needs to have at least one pokémon to their name. You cannot use a new character to trade their starter to an established character. You can also not trade all of a character's pokémon to a new character for them to use. Doing so will result in a warning and your characters being banned from trading to each other. If it happens a second time, you will be banned. Some pokémon cannot be traded without a valid reason (such as retiring a character or a in-lore reason that passes staff's muster). These pokémon include: Type: Null, Ultra Beasts, Legendaries, Mythical pokémon, etc. The site reason is that these pokémon usually decide to go with a specific trainer. If they chose to go with you and only you, why would they want to go to someone else that hasn't earned their respect? II. GiftingPokémon can be gifted between members or between someone's characters. In order for this to occur, the gifted pokémon cannot be 6+ levels higher than the receiver's strongest pokémon. This means you cannot trade a level 6+ pokémon to someone whose strongest pokémon is level 1. There is a non-negotiable 2-week cool down between gifts for everyone involved. If you gift or receive a pokémon through this measure, you cannot gift or receive another for two real life weeks. This cool down can be increased or decreased at any time via staff's discretion. You CANNOT gift your last pokémon, as in if you gift that pokémon you are left with no pokémon. This is only ignored if the character is being retired and will never return to the site. Some pokémon cannot be gifted without a valid reason (such as retiring a character or a in-lore reason that passes staff's muster). These pokémon include: Type: Null/Silvally, Ultra Beasts, Legendaries, Mythical pokémon, etc. The site reason is that these pokémon usually decide to go with a specific trainer. If they chose to go with you and only you, why would they want to go to someone else that hasn't earned their respect? III. ReleasingYou may not want a pokémon in your PC after a while and you may not be able to find anyone to trade it to. If this is the case, you can release your pokémon. Releasing a pokémon gives you EXP that is equivalent to the pokémon's level multiplied by two. For example, if you release a level 30 pokémon, you will get 60 EXP. Likewise, when you release a pokémon, they go into a list kept by staff*. That pokémon may reappear again in the future, and they won't forget you as their first trainer! You may even encounter them again when they are stronger! Or, in some circumstances, other players may encounter them as well! If you want to release a pokémon, please visit the Trading and Release Request thread. *You can opt out of this. IV. BreedingBreeding is very easy in Deprin! All you need are two pokémon and to follow the following criteria for breeding and hatching. Breeding:- In order for two pokémon to breed, one must be male and one must be female. Alternatively, you can breed a Ditto with a male, a female, or a genderless pokémon. Some pokémon cannot breed which are mentioned further below.
- To get two pokémon to produce an egg, you will need to go to Breeding and Hatching Request and pay a fee while presenting the two pokémon required. Be sure to follow the steps listed.
- Once you have an egg in hand, you will be able to work towards hatching it.
- Pokémon can only breed once every real life month!
- Paradox Pokémon Clause: Paradox pokémon can breed, but their offspring may not be Paradox Marked. Just like shiny pokémon, a Paradox Mark will have to be rolled for at hatching.
- Shiny Pokémon Clause: In order to hatch a pokémon with a Shiny Mark, it will need to meet staff's shiny roll threshold. A Shiny Charm on the character hatching the egg will alter the threshold.
Hatching:- Eggs are required to have their own PC/tracker post before they can be hatched.
- You can only focus on hatching one egg at a time. This means you cannot try to include 2+ eggs in the same hatching criteria threads. However, an egg does NOT count towards your 3-party maximum! You can involve the egg and have a 3-party team. Once the egg hatches, however, it is now considered a valid fighting pokémon.
- The egg you are hatching needs to be mentioned in three separate threads and/or journal entries more than once. This means that, during the duration of a thread or journal entry, the egg must be mentioned more than a single time.
- All hatched pokémon have a chance for a Hidden Ability and will always have a randomly chosen Egg Move.
- You can hatch your eggs by going to Breeding and Hatching Request and following the instructions.
Unbreedable Pokémon- Legendaries
- Mythical Pokémon
- Ultra Beasts
- Type: Null/Silvally
- Galarian Fossil Pokémon
